Nomads Getting Restless

Nomads getting restless. It’s said restlessness is caused by anxiety. When nomads are getting restless it’s wanderlust. Details in Nomads-Getting-Restless-Bob Davis Podcast 1104.

Pace of Travel

Certainly the pace of my travel has changed since my first year as a nomad.

Indeed this year I spent 8 months in the desert.

And due to family stuff I have now spent almost four months lakeside in Western Wisconsin.

Winter To Spring

On the positive side I have been able to experience winter to spring…

To Summer

And now Spring to summer…

Lake Side

Here on the shore.

Ready To Travel

But now I am getting restless.

That is to say I am ready to travel.

Change

Therefore it’s a great opportunity to talk about how my travel has changed over the years.

Back and Forth

For example in the first year of full time nomad life I barrelled back and forth across the country.

Border To Border

To say nothing of my trips to the Northern and Southern US Borders.

Experiential Desire

These days I am thinking I want my travel to be a little more experiential.

Bucket Lists

Comparatively many travelers hit all the national parks.

Or every major league baseball field.

People and Places Are My Jam

By comparison I’d like to find different places and people.

Colorado

For instance a town I visited in Colorado last summer with people trying to live a different way.

New England

At the present time though I’m planning a trip to New England from Western Wisconsin.

Travel Preparation

Leaving in about a month.

Still Some Time

All in all I still have some time left.

Travel

Finally I talk a lot about travel and the travel experience.

The Drive

And I love to drive.

To Learn

To explain a little further, one of the reasons I do this to learn more about America.

Avoid Judgements

By the same token one of the things I’ve learned is to avoid categorization and judgement when it comes to the places I’ve been and the people I’ve met.

Whole World

To sum up we nomads know there is a whole world out there.

Opposite Of Anxiety

Hence our restlessness is the opposite of anxiety.

We can’t wait to get out there.

As much as we love hanging out lakeside.

Front-Porch-Summer-Stories-Bob Davis Podcast 928

Live from the Front Porch! These days we all need some summer fun. I once lived on the front porch for an entire summer and it was pure bliss. Summer stories in Front-Porch-Summer-Stories-Bob Davis Podcast 928.

First of all we honor those who have fallen in battle for our country on Memorial Day.

Second we’re not supposed to say, “Have a happy Memorial Day Weekend”.

Finally I did anyway. I know. Just seems like we all need some good summer vibes.

Consequently I might take some flack for my summer best wishes. However this three day weekend in the US is also our summer kick off.

More importantly this is probably going to be the weirdest Memorial Day weekend in memory.

Therefore as I we kick off the weekend time to share some stories about summer.

For example there was the time I spent an entire summer living on the front porch. My backyard ‘fort’. Running around the neighborhood in the middle of the night. Spending the entire summer at the Lion’s Club Pool.

What about those rainy cold summers? Day after day spent playing cards with all the other kids on the neighbor’s front porch. At the end of the summer someone would announce school was starting soon. What happened to the summer?

Above all summers in the upper Midwest are short. Memorial day weekends are usually rainy and cold. Due to the extreme nature of our seasons up here we approach every moment of any warmth with gusto! We’ll talk about it in Front-Porch-Summer-Stories-Bob Davis Podcast 928.

In conclusion, join me on my front porch today as I test out some new podcasting equipment and tell some stories. We all need a break from the insanity.

We all agree on one thing. There’s a lot of crazy to go around these days. It’s especially relevant and important to remember it’s summer. Join me on the deck and we’ll talk about it in Pause Crazy News Coverage-Summer Stories-Bob Davis Podcast 734.

Taco Night!

Taco night at the Broadcast Bunker ends on the deck, with fresh hot coffee, as the rain rolls in.

Stream Of Consciousness

As a long time podcaster I prefer preparation and even writing content. However subscribers and listeners tell me they love my free wheeling stream of consciousness style.

Furthermore it takes a lot of thought to get to the nub of what is near and dear to talk about in a podcast. Easy for me to talk about politics and society. Maybe because politics is always top of mind.

Awash In News Coverage

To me, valuable content is just beneath that crust of all this political talk. Moreover society is awash in so called news coverage that ends up forcing us all deeper into our ‘positions’. The great thing about podcasting is, I don’t have to keep banging away on a political topic. I’ve done plenty of unique podcasts on society and politics that are still current.

Then I remember it’s summer!

In the Upper Midwest summer is short and sweet. Most of all this year we’ve had a lot of rain and it has been hot. That means thick leaves and bugs and lots of green.

No Shoes And Running Free

Summer nights make me think of summer stories. Spending summer with no shoes. Days at the community pool. Bike rides. Running free from morning til late at night. Sitting on the front steps listening to the radio all night.

All of this, kicked off from the last day of school and running straight through to Labor Day.

Summer Nights

My experience has been that it doesn’t matter when someone grew up. Summer nights are always good for thinking about those days when we had endless freedom and possibilities.

Remember Your Summer Stories

Finally considering the intensity, the yelling and screaming, the rancor that passes for ‘news’, it sure made me feel good to do this podcast. Listen and remember your summer stories, no matter when you grew up. And all this kicked off because someone asked me why I don’t wear shoes in the summer.
