Squeamish?

Secondly the only disclaimer I would offer is that some people are squeamish about these things.

And others don’t like the whole of idea of spirits in another realm able to show themselves to us, talk to us or even touch us.

Ghosts Of The American West

But if you can get past all that the fact is the American West is full of ghosts.

Strong Opinions

Most importantly because of the strong opinions surrounding this kind of thing I am not identifying the campsite we’re in, and I’ll call my interview subject ‘Bonnie’.

Colorado Is Haunted

Finally Colorado itself has many a haunted place.

‘Bonnie’ has been to most of those places and documented the existence of these entities over the years.

Know The Feeling

More importantly those of us who’ve spent any time camping out here know the feeling.

For example, you’ve gotten into an isolated campsite. Set your camp up. Got the fire going.

Something Doesn’t Feel Right

However something doesn’t feel right.

Spirits In The Natural World

Are there spirits in the national parks and forests?

‘Bonnie’ says yes.

How To Handle It

Even more she’ll tell us how to handle the feeling and what to do if you have an encounter.

They Can Touch Us?

Certainly the idea that a ghost can touch us threw me for a loop.

Visited By Loved Ones

Similarly ‘Bonnie’ says we’re often visited by loved ones who have passed. And she tells some great stories about her father’s attempts to let her know he’s there.

You Might See Them And Not Know

In addition what about ghosts that appear in a corporeal form? You may be seeing them and not even know it. We’ve got a story about that too.

To sum up most of my readers and listeners know how much I love the west.

It’s All A Land Of Enchantment

Even more I believe all of the west is a land of enchantment, not just New Mexico.

Native Americans Knew It Too

Certainly there’s plenty of Native American Lore dating back to the times before any Europeans came to this continent.

Spooky

In the same vein American Indians knew there were places across this land that could have been termed ‘spooky’ for one reason or another, and accepted the idea of ‘ghosts’.

Thanks In Order

In conclusion I want to personally thank two of the most interesting people I have met in my travels and visits to National Parks and US Forest Campgrounds.

Toss Up House Elections 2018-Part 1-Bob Davis Podcast 753

Every two years the entire US House of Representatives has to run for election. The predictions of the prognosticators concerning these elections are most noteworthy. The sages say as many as 58 republican seats are in jeopardy. We’ll find out in a series of podcasts that examine each of these house races in detail. Toss Up House Elections 2018-Part 1-Bob Davis Podcast 753.

Predictions Are Dangerous

I hate predictions, Moreover I find while the media loves to ‘nationalize’ house and senate elections most of the time they turn on local issues not the national issues. One of the reasons predictions are often be wrong.

Especially relevant, so many of these races are considered toss ups.

Calibrating The Crystal Ball

There’s only way to determine whether men staring into crystal balls can predict the future. You have to examine each district one at a time.

In part one we look at several districts in California, Colorado, and Florida. More are on the way.

Travel Makes Great Political Analysis

I am happy to say I have been to many of these districts in Mobile Podcast Command. ‘Just passing through’ doesn’t give you some gift for the truth but it does help to visualize. Because I travel I have additional knowledge that is invaluable when it comes to understanding what’s going on in some of these elections.

Pivot Counties Are Well…Pivotal

Similarly it helps to have visited to some of the so called ‘Pivot Counties‘ and to have traveled through areas these guys on TV probably have not seen recently, if ever. It all adds up to the realization that all politics really is local.

New Political Environment?

Because I traveled in 2016 I was able to to realize early on something different was brewing. I think we’re still in a new political environment. All the more reason not to avoid the tarot card readers on TV. Listen to Toss Up House Elections 2018-Part 1-Bob Davis Podcast 753 instead.

No Predictions Just Information And a Baseline For You

While I won’t predict anything in 2018 I think it is fair to say we’re in a new environment politically in which almost anything can happen. Moreover whatever is happening may not show up in polls and primary election data.

Isn’t that what makes watching the outcome so much fun?

Podcast 214

North Dakota. The final On-The-Road podcast takes us through Montana to North Dakota. When you travel, especially in a car, you get philosophical. Subscribers to the Bob Davis Podcasts suggested a trip to Williston, for a first hand look at what ‘Fracking’ has wrought. One does not have to go to Williston to see the effects of development and economic growth in North Dakota. Everything is new. Kicking off some musing about the different ways the American West Developed, how the West uses its resources for economic growth. The sheer geographic size and scope of Western States is truly impressive, not to mention innovation and opportunity from the coffee stands and whitewater outfitters in Moab, Utah to brand new service stations, franchises, apartment buildings, hotels and office buildings in North Dakota. While North Dakota leads the nation in economic growth and energy development, it is just one state. The whole trip through the so called ‘Mountain West’ definitely leaves a visual impression, but it also serves as a reminder of just how majestic the United States is, and how much potential there really is. From trains, to smaller cities all over the west, in states so large you wouldn’t even know there is growth and development, and innovation everywhere. One can’t help but wonder how much more potential for growth would exist if people enjoyed an easier path to following their dreams. The Minneapolis Tribune and New York Times don’t like North Dakota’s oil boom, but then again, the establishment ‘back east’ has never been comfortable with the diverse economic interests ‘Out West’ that have struggled with development, exploitation of natural resources, agriculture and ranching issues, for over one hundred years.
