Pandemic-Finally-Kills-Conservatism-Bob Davis Podcast 912

Uncertainty Rules The News

These days you don’t know what the news will bring. Furthermore the latest spate of shoot-from-the-hip fixes take the cake. Learn more in Pandemic-Finally-Kills-Conservatism-Bob Davis Podcast 912.

Pandemic Podcast Series

In addition I’ve been doing a series of podcasts on reactions to the virus.

Old Political World Already Dead

First of all the left-right political spectrum is out of date.

Conservative Versus Liberal? Get Real

Consequently, conservative versus liberal doesn’t even begin to describe what we’re dealing with.

Minimizer In Chief Suddenly Worried

Even more President Trump minimized what became a pandemic from the start. As a result, his supporters parroted what he said with gusto.

Trump went from pointing fingers and calling Coronavirus a hoax, to cowed in one day!

Learn why in Pandemic-Finally-Kills-Conservatism-Bob Davis Podcast 912.

Losing Their Principles For Trump

Conservatives believe in Limited Government or personal freedom, Economic Freedom the US Constitution and above all a debt free future. Moreover the right wing hates deficit spending, the Federal Reserve and Executive Overreach?

Trump Shifts

And yet in a few hours President Trump abandoned conservatives! He proposed a series of policy ideas that should have former and current democratic presidential candidates claiming copyright infringement!

Checks, Deficits, Bail Outs

Especially relevant, perhaps two thousand dollar checks for every American. A trillion dollar bail out package on top of a trillion dollar deficit just for 2020 and 23 trillion in public debt. Using the military. Shutting down private businesses.

Threatening The Federal Reserve Chair

In addition, the president threatened to fire the Federal Reserve Chair because interest rates weren’t being cut far enough, fast enough.

Wall Street Response

Finally the response from Wall Street isn’t good.

Investors want to see the president leading the government to take real action to address a growing crisis.

Never Waste A Crisis

In conclusion, it’s time for questions about the future of the republican party and this president. Remember those Obama Era Memes about not wasting a crisis?

Now they’re being applied to ‘conservatives’.

Chaos-Confusion-Shut Down-Merry Trumpmas-Bob Davis Podcast 788

I love talking about current events. These days it gets harder and harder because of a volatile President Trump. Learn more in Chaos-Confusion-Shut Down-Merry Trumpmas-Bob Davis Podcast 788.

Genius Or Idiot

Moreover all this talk of political polarity isn’t republican or democrat. Either you think the president is a genius or an idiot. There’s no in between.

Especially relevant is the question of whether we are able to take a step back and look at recent key events with some perspective.

Economics and Diplomacy Nobody Wants To Discuss

Not too long ago I asked listeners and subscribers to think about what US economic and foreign policy should be. A presidential election and midterm election have taken place since then.

Suddenly foreign policy and economic policy are front and center. We’ll talk about it fireside in Chaos-Confusion-Shut Down-Merry Trumpmas-Bob Davis Podcast 788.

Syria and Turkey

First of all, the president made a snap decision to withdraw US Troops from Syria while on the phone with the Turkish president. In the aftermath the defense secretary resigned, as well as a senior diplomat managing the alliances to fight ISIS. Now the president is talking about withdraws from Afghanistan and Iraq. Is he right?

Combined with Trump’s executive order ban of Bump-Stocks the Syria Withdraw has usually fawning talk show hosts apoplectic.

Government Shutdown

In addition the ongoing struggle between the White House and Congress has resulted in a government ‘shutdown‘. What’s more the struggle appears to be between a Republican president and his Republican majority in the House and Senate.

Firing The Fed Head

On top off all this the president wants to fire the Federal Reserve Chairman. Concerns about economic performance are rising and finally financial analysts are writing about government spending accounting for most of the so called ‘boom’ in the US economy over the last two quarters. This is conservative republican economics?

End Of Conservative GOP

Finally there’s talk of a big split within the republican party. Moderate Republicans fighting Trumpers. Trump fighting with all of them to get a wall built along the US Mexican border. Through all of this there’s been no legislation on key matters like immigration even with republican control of the Legislative and Executive branches of the government. It sure seems like the lack of principles and republican populism is tearing the so called ‘conservative’ coalition apart.

Merry Trumpmas

In conclusion the question of whether people thought about policy during both elections is key. New ideas, and international structures are coming. If we the people don’t start thinking about what kind of country we want, and how will the next America function? Trumpmas will look like child’s play. All of this has me aching to hit the open road!

Goodbye To 2017-Hello 2018-Happy New Year-Podcast 690

As the year closes time for a look back at 2017. Some of the experiences, helpers, clients and some big thank you’s. Any look back also includes a look ahead. In Goodbye To 2017-Hello 2018-Happy New Year-Podcast 690.

Fast Changing World

The theme of 2017 for almost everyone seems to be fear and anxiety in a fast changing world. Boy is it changing fast. Biggest change in 2017? Our politics. Still, there was a lot of great travel and fun this year.

These days things change so fast. One story that is still with us? The so called Russian Hack and the Russian Collusion story. The media is still trying to predict the future, getting stories wrong or advocating for a point of view. It’s a theme of the podcasts this year and we’ll talk about it in Goodbye To 2017-Hello 2018-Happy New Year-Podcast 690.

The Truth Is On The Back Roads

With all the talk about political civil war and surreal protests this year, travel on the backroads of this country convinces me the real America is significantly different from the America we hear about in the media in general. There were some great trips this year. Sturgis, the Air Show, a crumbling home town and more. Too bad Burning Man didn’t happen for the Bob Davis Podcasts in 2017. Maybe next year. In Goodbye To 2017-Hello 2018-Happy New Year-Podcast 690.

We Don’t Need No Stinking Principles

Political fighting was all the rage this year. Especially relevant is the fact that most of the partisan bickering was free of principles. This was a year in which both mainline political parties seemed to have forgotten what they stand for. Good thing I can talk about small business and the role of the podcaster helping people in business.

Opening Up

This was also a year in which I started a podcast specific to Yoga, which has really enhanced my life in these crazy times. I’ve experienced some big personal losses this year. Between yoga and travel podcasts, it became clear to me there is a whole world out there which doesn’t turn on political develops in Washington. Thank God. In Goodbye To 2017-Hello 2018-Happy New Year-Podcast 690.

Thanks To Everyone

Whether its analysis, business, yoga, travel, storm chasing and the eclipse it’s been a big year for me. There have also been a number of great local stories to cover as well. Thanks to the clients, contributors, subscribers and listeners who make podcasting a great medium and help The Bob Davis Podcasts everyday.

Happy New Year!
