Pause Crazy News Coverage-Summer Stories-Bob Davis Podcast 734

We all agree on one thing. There’s a lot of crazy to go around these days. It’s especially relevant and important to remember it’s summer. Join me on the deck and we’ll talk about it in Pause Crazy News Coverage-Summer Stories-Bob Davis Podcast 734.

Taco Night!

Taco night at the Broadcast Bunker ends on the deck, with fresh hot coffee, as the rain rolls in.

Stream Of Consciousness

As a long time podcaster I prefer preparation and even writing content. However subscribers and listeners tell me they love my free wheeling stream of consciousness style.

Furthermore it takes a lot of thought to get to the nub of what is near and dear to talk about in a podcast. Easy for me to talk about politics and society. Maybe because politics is always top of mind.

Awash In News Coverage

To me, valuable content is just beneath that crust of all this political talk. Moreover society is awash in so called news coverage that ends up forcing us all deeper into our ‘positions’. The great thing about podcasting is, I don’t have to keep banging away on a political topic. I’ve done plenty of unique podcasts on society and politics that are still current.

Then I remember it’s summer!

In the Upper Midwest summer is short and sweet. Most of all this year we’ve had a lot of rain and it has been hot. That means thick leaves and bugs and lots of green.

No Shoes And Running Free

Summer nights make me think of summer stories. Spending summer with no shoes. Days at the community pool. Bike rides. Running free from morning til late at night. Sitting on the front steps listening to the radio all night.

All of this, kicked off from the last day of school and running straight through to Labor Day.

Summer Nights

My experience has been that it doesn’t matter when someone grew up. Summer nights are always good for thinking about those days when we had endless freedom and possibilities.

Remember Your Summer Stories

Finally considering the intensity, the yelling and screaming, the rancor that passes for ‘news’, it sure made me feel good to do this podcast. Listen and remember your summer stories, no matter when you grew up. And all this kicked off because someone asked me why I don’t wear shoes in the summer.

ADHD-Solitude-Technology-Yoga Therapy In Modern World-Podcast 718

Facebook. Twitter. Snap Chat. Social gatherings. These days it seems like we’re around people all the time. Suddenly solitude has become a ‘thing’. We’ll talk it in ADHD-Solitude-Technology-Yoga Therapy In Modern World-Podcast 718

ADHD Is The Culprit?

Moreover I’m starting to hear a lot of talk about Attention Deficit Disorder. ADHD is the culprit in almost every analysis of what’s wrong with the world. To be sure there are places where smartphones aren’t kosher. On the other hand maybe we can put the judgments on hold.

Yoga Eases The Pressure Of Modern Life

Most noteworthy is Yoga’s role in easing the pressures of modern life. I call these podcasts ‘Always A Student‘ because I am not a teacher. Naming my yoga podcasts this way also keeps me humble. They are designed to share my life experience as well as my experiences as a yoga student. Learn more in ADHD-Solitude-Technology-Yoga Therapy In Modern World-Podcast 718.

Solitude Kicks Ass

These days I prefer solitude. Life and a daily Yoga practice have taught me that I need more time to process events in my day to day. Spending time alone is a great way to process. Most of us have a lot running through our minds. An hour a day on the mat is usually the only time where we can breath and be free of the constant mental chatter.

Smart Phones On The Mat

When it comes to modern attention deficit disorder, in this free wheeling talker, I get into teacher’s reactions to smart phones in the yoga studio. I also talk about judging a younger generation. Are millennials sitting on their yoga mats finishing up the day’s emails and texts, or checking their social media feeds really all the ails the world?

No Place Better For ADHD Than The Yoga Studio

In conclusion, I think hyperactive people perceive life differently. Rather than some kind of condition to be ‘treated’, what if ADHD isn’t some kind of mutation to allow us to better use fantastic new technology. One of the cool things about being hyperactive is, we also have a great capacity for exercise.

I can’t think of a better place to enjoy being hyperactive than the yoga studio.

Christmas 2017-New Year’s 2018-Getting Through-Road Ahead-Podcast 684

That time of year again. Christmas and Holiday pressure. End of Year Themes. Predictions. Maybe the best thing to do is to kick back and wait it out. In Christmas 2017-New Year’s 2018-Getting Through-Road Ahead-Podcast 684.

It’s Christmas Season Already?

Hard to believe we’re nearing the end of another year. Just ahead of the big slow down between Christmas and New Year’s every year. The pressure is on though. Christmas 2017-New Year’s 2018-Getting Through-Road Ahead-Podcast 684 is an opportunity to give ourselves permission to take a slow down.

Pressure Time Doesn’t Have To Be Pressure Time

These days with people wanting to visit, pressures of blended and non blended families and the normal pressures of life it can get pretty hectic. Moreover, many of us try to pack so many tasks into the mix, it feels like four months of living in about thirty days or less, between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

As a Guy This Is How I Roll

How do some people get through it. My excuse is, I’m a guy. I don’t do much aside from planning my yearly Chinese dinner out on Christmas Day, which few in the family want to come to. It’s a nice opportunity to hang with the younger generation including my son and my nephews, escaping what might termed lightly as ‘the madness’.

Breathe

Especially relevant is the sudden exhortation at the yoga studio for people to ‘take a breath’ and ‘slow down’. Amen to that! What do I want? Time. Time to do nothing. Back in the day, the people out on the plains mended their tools, drank egg coffee and pored over the seed and Sears catalogs to plan what they were going to plant, grow and hopefully harvest in the next year. Take a slow down with me in Christmas 2017-New Year’s 2018-Getting Through-Road Ahead-Podcast 684.

Be A Kid

Then there are the endless predictions and prognostications from a media hell-bent-for-leather to predict the future. What’s going to happen. What happened last year, as though each year has earthshaking developments that will never be forgotten. No time to enjoy the present like we used to when we were kids.

Take Time Off If You Can

Especially relevant for me are the memories of trips to Florida when I was a kid. Getting up at 4AM, climbing into the way-back of the wagon. We couldn’t wait for the moment when you could feel the warmth against the windows. Listening to this podcast, you may find yourself in a reverie of your own memories when Christmas was a simpler time.
