Super-Blood-Wolf-Moon-Eclipse-Endgame USA-Podcast 797

First of all they say an eclipse brings change. Do you think we need change or have we had enough? Learn more in Super-Blood-Wolf-Moon-Eclipse-Endgame USA-Podcast 797.

Shouting Across the Aisle

These days all you hear about is the latest insult. What one is doing to the other. What the other said about the one. Meanwhile there are lessons to be learned from the longest ‘government shut down in history’, even if it is over by the time you listen to this podcast.

Feds Furloughed. What About The Rest Of The Country?

As federal workers head into their second pay period with no paycheck, certainly they have concerns about the future. What about the rest of the country?

US Federal Government. Too Big To Fail?

In contrast to the furloughed feds, the rest of us are learning just how important the federal government is to the overall US Economy. In my state the federal government is one of the top five employers. The same is true to varying degrees in most other states. Find out more in Super-Blood-Wolf-Moon-Eclipse-Endgame USA-Podcast 797.

Fruits Of Government Not Labor

Consequently all the talking heads seem to be focused on the fruits of the government, and what happens when those fruits are taken away.

While the rest of the world bemoans the state of the federal employee, what about the impact of government spending? It’s all in Super-Blood-Wolf-Moon-Eclipse-Endgame USA-Podcast 797.

New Theory Spend, Borrow, Print

A new modern monetary theory everyone in Washington is taking about says it doesn’t matter how much we borrow and spend. Or tax. All we have to do is print more money. There’s no sunset to the wonderful things we can do for Americans and the rest of the world. Rome had the same idea.

We’re All Globalists Now

Furthermore younger demographics don’t have a problem with the supreme sovereignty of the state or spending. And there is a fair amount of support in younger demographics for globalism, despite Brexit and the Yellow Vest Protests.

Republicans want to borrow for things they want, and so do democrats!

Spending and Borrowing? Both Political Parties Are Bankrupt

When it comes to spending it doesn’t matter whether there is a R or a D in front of a name. For example, what’s the argument against borrow and spend when you spend and borrow?

Pass Me The Soma!

Finally one thing about an eclipse. We get to see just how fast things are moving. As the soma from our biggest satellite faded from the sky recently, one wonders how long it will be before the benefits of individual sovereignty and freedom fade also.

Out With The Old…

In conclusion, isn’t that what an eclipse is all about? Out with the old…In with the new. ( Editor’s Note: That fantastic picture of the blood moon Sunday, January 21st was taken by Mitch Rossow, of Mitch Rossow Photography, from his roof in Uptown Minneapolis.)

Chaos-Confusion-Shut Down-Merry Trumpmas-Bob Davis Podcast 788

I love talking about current events. These days it gets harder and harder because of a volatile President Trump. Learn more in Chaos-Confusion-Shut Down-Merry Trumpmas-Bob Davis Podcast 788.

Genius Or Idiot

Moreover all this talk of political polarity isn’t republican or democrat. Either you think the president is a genius or an idiot. There’s no in between.

Especially relevant is the question of whether we are able to take a step back and look at recent key events with some perspective.

Economics and Diplomacy Nobody Wants To Discuss

Not too long ago I asked listeners and subscribers to think about what US economic and foreign policy should be. A presidential election and midterm election have taken place since then.

Suddenly foreign policy and economic policy are front and center. We’ll talk about it fireside in Chaos-Confusion-Shut Down-Merry Trumpmas-Bob Davis Podcast 788.

Syria and Turkey

First of all, the president made a snap decision to withdraw US Troops from Syria while on the phone with the Turkish president. In the aftermath the defense secretary resigned, as well as a senior diplomat managing the alliances to fight ISIS. Now the president is talking about withdraws from Afghanistan and Iraq. Is he right?

Combined with Trump’s executive order ban of Bump-Stocks the Syria Withdraw has usually fawning talk show hosts apoplectic.

Government Shutdown

In addition the ongoing struggle between the White House and Congress has resulted in a government ‘shutdown‘. What’s more the struggle appears to be between a Republican president and his Republican majority in the House and Senate.

Firing The Fed Head

On top off all this the president wants to fire the Federal Reserve Chairman. Concerns about economic performance are rising and finally financial analysts are writing about government spending accounting for most of the so called ‘boom’ in the US economy over the last two quarters. This is conservative republican economics?

End Of Conservative GOP

Finally there’s talk of a big split within the republican party. Moderate Republicans fighting Trumpers. Trump fighting with all of them to get a wall built along the US Mexican border. Through all of this there’s been no legislation on key matters like immigration even with republican control of the Legislative and Executive branches of the government. It sure seems like the lack of principles and republican populism is tearing the so called ‘conservative’ coalition apart.

Merry Trumpmas

In conclusion the question of whether people thought about policy during both elections is key. New ideas, and international structures are coming. If we the people don’t start thinking about what kind of country we want, and how will the next America function? Trumpmas will look like child’s play. All of this has me aching to hit the open road!

New Thinking-Grassroots Movements-Minnesota-Bob Davis Podcast 786

These days people often say, “Politicians never do what they say”. Time to focus on a new way of thinking about politics in New Thinking-Grassroots Movements-Minnesota-Bob Davis Podcast 786.

Focus On Minnesota

First of all, let’s focus on Minnesota in New Thinking-Grassroots Movements-Minnesota-Bob Davis Podcast 786.

All States Are The Same. Right?

Seems like we think all states are the same. Every state has McDonald’s right? We eat the same foods. Watch the same shows.

Different Settlers

Especially relevant all the states were settled at different times. Different kinds of people settled them. Consequently the politics of all the states are different.

Minnesota Quirk

Furthermore political scientists say Minnesota is most noteworthy for its political quirks. Minnesota can produce a Walter Mondale and a Jesse Ventura. Therefore for history on Minnesota’s unique progressive history, go here.

Ranching Versus Farming – Oil versus Taconite

In addition one of the common refrains of Minnesota Republicans is, “Why can’t we be more like Texas?“. It’s as simple as when the states were settled and who settled them. The difference between ranching and farming. Or, between oil and mining.

Passive Aggressive Behavior or Minnesota Ice

Truth is when it comes to politics in the land of ten thousand lakes, passive aggressive behavior rules the roost.

Political Movements Going Nowhere

Moreover republican homegrown political movements are reactive and scattershot. So, they aren’t very effective.

Special Interests Are Choking All Minnesotans

Finally, special interests and money have a choke hold on Minnesota’s politics. Public private partnerships. Chambers of Commerce. Insurance Companies. Non-Profits. Seven rich guys in Minnetonka. One-Issue-Charlie religious contributors. Certainly a grassroots movement has to be strong enough to overpower these interests.

Above all nothing will change until the advent of a dynamic and powerful grassroots movement. Even more a movement that can deliver votes and money.

No More Self Serving Republican Reptiles

Great movements don’t start with self serving pols seeking glory and fame. In conclusion and by definition is starts with the people.
