Pleasure and Pain In Nomad Life

First there’s pleasure and pain in nomad life. It’s not all joy, all the time. Learn more in Nomad-Life-Pleasure-Pain-Bob Davis Podcast 966.

Summer in November

Second we’re live in Virginia on a perfect summer like morning.

Living Life On The Road

So it’s time for an easy talker in a continuing report on living life on the road.

Best. Idea. Ever.

Certainly I am still sure getting rid of everything I owned and hitting the road is still the best idea I’ve ever had. For me!

Pure Bliss

Above all those moments considering my new found freedom are pure bliss.

And Some Pain

On the other hand making silly mistakes can end in a lot of pain.

What’s The Mission On The Road

These days I find myself thinking more deeply about the actual reason for my decision to hit the road.

Experienced Traveler

Most importantly I felt called in some way to do this. Certainly I’ve traveled a lot in the last few years. Sometimes for months at a time.

Life On The Road

So I am no stranger to life on the road.

Home?

On the other hand I always ‘had’ to come ‘home’.

Home Is Here. Now.

Now home is where I happen to be on any given day.

Freedom?

Many people i talk to yearn for that kind of freedom.

Reason For the Adventure

However for me, there has to be a reason for this adventure. Find out why I say this in Nomad-Life-Pleasure-Pain-Bob Davis Podcast 966.

What’s The Mission?

To sum up, this is an adventure. This is a mission. I’m just not quite sure what it is right now.

Finding It Together

In conclusion I guess I’d say we’ll find it together. In a sense that’s what these podcasts are all about…and that’s my pleasure!

Not to mention enjoying an endless summer this winter.

Podcast 578-Jennifer Lokken-Culture Wars

Podcast 578-Jennifer Lokken-Culture Wars. A FaceBook friend of mine recently posted an article on her page about the Culture Wars. The Battle Of The Sexes. It’s clear there is a general rethink of the Feminism movement. Some call Feminism a cancer on our society. Some Feminists believe it is time for a shift in the movement’s focus from legal equality to attacking ‘The Market’. That’s right. The market is considered by them to be male dominated. In her mid thirties, Jennifer Lokken has had six children. She takes care of the house and homeschools her kids. Her husband works. Some data shows housewives are happier than feminists, indeed happier than women in any other occupation. Jennifer talks about her post and her ideas. Relationships. How men and women relate to each other. The question of whether women in other parts of the world treat men differently than American women. What men and women need and want. Much of what Mrs. Lokken has to say in this interview might be controversial. I present the interview without endorsement or judgement. My conversation with Jennifer illustrates the idea that there is a push back against feminism. We hear a lot about how men treat women in this country, but we don’t hear a lot about how women treat men. We don’t hear much about men who have gone ‘on strike’ refusing to have meaningful relationships with women. We don’t hear how men feel about being made the butt of jokes in mainstream media and entertainment. We don’t talk about how many boys and young men are confused about their roles. With fake news about rape how should we raise healthy boys and girls in this environment? How do we teach them to treat each other with respect and dignity? Is there a truly equitable way for men and women to marry and raise children, work and … be happy? By the same token, is the institution of marriage so sacrosanct as to become a jail for a women, or man? You may agree or disagree with Jennifer’s opinions and life choices, but she will definitely make you think. Sponsored by Ryan Plumbing of Saint Paul.

Podcast 266

Rolling Stone’s Debacle. This weekend Rolling Stone Magazine admitted it did not properly fact-check a story about an alleged gang rape on the campus of the University of Virginia. So now we have a clear example of media bias in action and it goes way beyond fact checking. The editors liked the story, so they never pushed the reporter to interview the accused, or confirm the stories of the friends of the woman who claimed she was gang raped at a frat party. So, it took the Washington Post to go down to UVA and run down the particulars in the story. As this was going on, Rolling Stone defended its reporter, and anyone who questioned the woman’s story was pilloried. What did the Washington Post uncover? The discrepancies are so numerous, Rolling Stone had to issue an apology this weekend. ‘Narrative journalism’, combined with bias and shoddy editing is the order of the day in most of today’s news shops. Now the media, UVA, Fraternities, the alleged perpetrators, the victim, not to mention real cases of rape have all been thrown into question as the result of an editor and reporter, and magazine that did not do their job. And what can we say about the media? Charlatans, hustlers, think tank spokespersons, operatives are booked as guests on all the major news shows, round table shout fests, and empty suits abound. An informed populace/electorate is the one necessary ingredient for democracy, and we do not have it. America is being so poorly served by its so called media, its no wonder people cannot reason, don’t know the facts, scream and yell at each other, throw labels onto each other that are meaningless, and are deeply confused about how any process works, because they are uninformed. Who’s fault is it? What can be done about it? Have we reached the stage where the rule of the mob has become a reality? Unfortunately, it sure looks like it. Meanwhile, Mary Landrieu has lost her bid for a fourth term in the US Senate representing Louisiana, giving the GOP one more seat in the Senate, and an historic majority in the House. Wait until after January 7th for the fireworks to start when the 117th Congress is sworn in. The President has acid reflux, as does the rest of the country due to his policies. The media ballyhooed the latest unemployment numbers, but once you look under the hood, they don’t look so good. Surprise! We have yet to produce one month with over 375,000 new jobs, which is what the country needs to fully recover. It never ceases to amaze what the media thinks is ‘good’ versus what is factually needed. Sponsored by Baklund R&D. (Correction: I keep referring to the current congress as “the 116th Congress” in this podcast, and the next as the “117th Congress”. Getting a little ahead of myself; The current Congress is the 113th, and the incoming congress is the 114th.)
