Modern World Life Hacks Summer Storm-Podcast 677

I think it is fair to say we’re living in a completely different time than just a few years ago. Messaging, alerts, constant interruptions. People complain they’re working twenty four hours a day because they have to be available around the clock. In Modern World Life Hacks Summer Storm-Podcast 677 I share my hacks to stay sane. What are yours?

Maintaining Composure

Especially relevant is the need to stay in a positive state of mind. This can be difficult when you’re responding to text messages, emails, clients or bosses at three in the morning. Content creators and creative people can find the need to stay connected constantly the most difficult.

Enjoying A Summer Storm

My contribution to your peace of mind? Sitting on the porch during a summer storm. What about the things that interest me. Excite me. Keep me in a positive, productive and creative state of mind? Hopefully my list will spur you to think up your own list. Things that really keep us going. In Modern World Life Hacks Summer Storm-Podcast 677.

Nobody Ever Said It Would Be Easy

Life is not easy. Turns and shifts happen without warning. Sometimes these changes are welcome. Sometimes not. People leave. Jobs end. Companies are sold. Plans shift. There are times when the changes are good. Finally, shifts and changes that are later looked upon as a ‘blessing’.

My Hacks

Travel is a big hack. A great way to shift my thinking. I don’t even care where I go anymore. Just going is half the battle. Especially road trips. Going to exotic far away places is also good. There are times though, when all you can manage is a weekend getaway.

The famous Bob Davis News Cleanse changed my life. It brought the realization that I did not need to maintain a twenty four hour news watch and freed me to create content outside of the confines of ‘the news’. Reading, walking, sitting quietly, or doing anything that shifts your thinking even short term are great for hacking the madness that is modern life.

The Old World Is Never Coming Back

In conclusion, we live in a great age. As we modernize we live among the trappings of an old world. Some of the old things are still around, but the pace of life will never go back to what it was. There are new pressures. New ideas. While we adjust to these new approaches its important to maintain our balance.

Desk Time Lobby Time-Yoga Community Experience-Podcast 674

If you practice yoga you’ve, heard talk about the yoga community. For me, it starts in the studio before and after class. We’ll talk about it in Desk Time Lobby Time-Yoga Community Experience-Podcast 674.

Working At Home Can Make You A Shut In

I run my own business and I work out of my home. I don’t know if it will always be this way, but the truth is, I kind of like working from home. For me, the most social point of the day is daily practice and the time at the yoga studio.

Emotional and Energetic High Point Of The Day

When I first started practicing I heard a lot of talk about the yoga community. Is the community something that can be activated to serve a purpose? I think it is a little more etherial than that. We come together for the joy of practicing yoga. People who probably would never socialize in any other venue turn out to be the best people you’d ever want to meet. In Desk Time Lobby Time-Yoga Community Experience-Podcast 674.

What’s Desk Time and Lobby Time

At my studio the teachers call it desk time and lobby time. That period of time before and after class when they check students in and after when they’re available to talk with students about their experience. Sometimes it is a lot more than just customer service. Teachers and students have great conversations about all kinds of things.

The Social Experience At Yoga

In Desk Time Lobby Time-Yoga Community Experience-Podcast 674 we’ll talk about how much socializing is too much at the studio. Especially relevant is the fact that sometimes I can’t shut up! Much has been written these days about teachers who talk too much. What about us students? Where is the line between getting in the way and having a good time?

A Young Business Delivering Great Customer Service

Finally the business of yoga is a young business. Most of the teachers and managers are younger. There’s a lot of talk these days about millennials and their approach to work. Much of that talk is negative. My experience is these younger adults are exceptional at delivering a consistent experience for their yoga students and great at customer service in this environment. We talk about it in Desk Time Lobby Time-Yoga Community Experience-Podcast 674.

First Official Bob Davis Yoga Podcast-Podcast 663

Welcome to the first monthly yoga podcast as part of The Bob Davis Podcasts. Through all the news and current events podcasts over the years, yoga has been a behind the scenes commitment. In First Official Bob Davis Yoga Podcast-Podcast 663, we’ll talk exclusively the practice.

Forever A Student

First and foremost I will be forever a student. There are many yoga podcasts about teaching, nutrition and the poses. Not many about the experience of the student. The first podcast in this series then has to be about my history. How I came to Yoga. How I came to integrate it into my day to day life.

Yoga Every Damn Day

The Bob Davis Podcasts have done podcasts about Yoga or about people who practice Yoga and the links for those shows are here. Yoga has been a part of my travel podcasts. Where I practice. What Yoga is like in one town versus another on the road. It’s time now to spend some time focusing on the practice. We’ll start doing this once per month. The first podcast in this series is here.

It’s All About Growth

Like many people I came to fitness later in life. I came to yoga later in life, starting at the gym. You grow tentatively, in fits and starts, until you find a daily practice. For me it was Bikram. Now I do all kinds of yoga, practicing every day. Get the details in First Official Bob Davis Yoga Podcast-Podcast 663.

Don’t Even Notice The Heat Anymore

This podcast covers what it’s like to start ‘hot’ style Yoga, not knowing anything about any of it. For the people (like me) who practice ‘everydamnday‘, how that works, and the effects. The so called promises of Yoga. In First Official Bob Davis Yoga Podcast-Podcast 663.

Humility and Awe

I wouldn’t begin to tell people what kind of Yoga they ‘should’ do. Wouldn’t begin to make suggestions about what kind of nutritional guidelines one ‘should’ follow. There’s a certain level of humility that is a result of this practice. A approach different from talking about news and current events that is, for me, refreshing.
