Nomad-Meetup-New-Mexico-Bob Davis Podcast 973

Firstly holiday season means many avoid travel restrictions with a road trip so it’s a perfect time for a nomad meetup and New Mexico is the place. Join us for Nomad-Meetup-New-Mexico-Bob Davis Podcast 973.

Secondly Las Cruces New Mexico turned out to be the perfect place.

Most importantly I’m doing the nomad thing and my friend Don Anger is doing a variation of the nomad thing.

Don works in the oil fields in Midland, Texas and lives in Case Grande, Arizona.

Even more my old radio buddy works two weeks on, and gets a week off.

Certainly like a lot of other workers these days no one’s taking any risks. Therefore Don is not alone migrating from the job, down the I-10 and back again at least twice a month.

On the other hand I am thoroughly loving the whole nomad experience. Having spent the last week or so in New Mexico, it was easy for me to head to Las Cruces.

Therefore my friend and I could meetup in Mobile Podcast Command for some coffee, and conversation.

As a result we got to share stories of the road and life’s challenges.

Above all how do we deal with issues like where we park at truck stops or Walmart parking lots. What about showers. Food. Do we travel at night or during the day?

In addition why do guys do what we do? For Don it’s about feeding a family and doing what has to be done.

But for me it’s about the open road and pure freedom.

Most importantly in this time lots of people are on the road.

Whether they’re working in one city and commuting to another or hitting the road in the same vein as I am, it doesn’t matter.

Finally even though it seems foreign, strange or even scary to some…It’s home to us.

To sum up we both get a lot of questions about life on the road. Time for a freewheeling conversation with two road warriors about what it’s like, why we do it and why we love it.

Suggestions and Support For Nomad Life

Certainly I get a lot of suggestions. And I welcome the support and interest in this nomad life effort.

Recent Suggestions

Firstly, one of recent suggestion was, get a camera in the truck. Just turn it on and record. That would be my ‘video’ channel. I appreciate the fact that people want to help and participate.

Secondly it just doesn’t work that way for me.

Nomad Life Is An Internal Process

For instance my experience is this is very much an internal process. I never knew how much noise my brain made until I decided to hit the road. Alone.

True Freedom

Even more once you give away everything you own and release the connection to place the potential to experience true freedom is there.

Your Mind Makes Noise

However the mind resists. Makes noise. Produces various reactions.

New Understanding

But until I hit the road permanently I never really fully understood.

Intensely Personal Experiences

In the same vein these are intensely personal experiences.

Personal Memories Too

As a result the memories are also personal. Although I work in the audio medium it’s very difficult to relate those internal processes, let alone produce videos about it.

A Challenging Time

Finally we’re living through a challenging time. I don’t feel it as much because I am mobile. But it’s there.

Planetary Conjunction

Above all on a date which marks the ending of the darkness and the beginning of the light, and a planetary conjunction to boot, I have some observations about that too!

Sights Smells Feelings

To sum up nomad life for me has been a jumbled collection of visual memories. Sights. Smells. Feelings.

Covering A Lot Of Ground

From Minnesota all the way through the middle of the country and deep south, to the deserts of the American Southwest.

Only Just Started

In short like life itself I’ve covered a lot of ground but it feels like I’ve only just started.

Road Trip With Me

First of all have you ever wondered what a road trip with me is all about? You’ll find out in Nomad-Ride-Along-Bob Davis Podcast 971.

Southwest Texas!

Secondly there are more than a few observations in this podcast about Southwest Texas and the travel so far.

Updates Every Hour

Most importantly the plan is to do a two to five minute update every hour as I travel.

Hit Play And Learn More

Finally when you hit play, the day compresses down to about half an hour. Check it out in Nomad-Ride-Along-Bob Davis Podcast 971.

Internal Processes

Moreover this process is often more internal than external. Now I understand why people take a sailboat around the world, alone.

Creative Spirit And Solitude

Even more it’s the solitude. Being alone ignites the creative spirit.

Ride With Me? Say What?

Therefore if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to ride with me you can do it in this podcast.

From Brownsville to Laredo and Points West

Meanwhile I am transitioning from the Gulf Coast Beach Life to the drier desert air. From Brownsville to a place called Carrizo Springs, Texas. Way out here in the middle of nowhere. But we’re somewhere, right?

Borders, Walmart, Campgrounds and Motels

Even more you get an answer to questions like how close am I to the border? Is it true I got kicked out of a Walmart Parking Lot? When you’re just out there do you stay at campgrounds and motels?

Checkpoint Charlie

After that we get to go through a Border Patrol checkpoint. You have no choice. You have to go through it. Makes mask mandates look tame.

Stop?

A friend asked me yesterday why I was driving so much. Why not stop in these little places?

The Open Road

To sum up once I head west I crave the open road.

Full Days

Certainly my days are full. Travel. Work. Fueling. Stopping. Cleaning. Constantly.

Nomad Objectives and Schedules

In short I have a schedule and objectives in this nomad effort. I know it sounds weird but it’s true.

Be My Ride or Die

Be my Ride or Die and we’ll discover it together in Nomad-Ride-Along-Bob Davis Podcast 971.
