Death Valley Solitude

Above all the lessons you learn on the road is the value of solitude, especially in Death Valley. The trip out of LA to the park and much more in Death-Valley-Solitude-Heaven-Bob Davis Podcast 999.

Questions About My Experience

Certainly people ask questions about what life is like as a nomad.

First of all one of the best questions came from a good friend recently.

What lessons have you learned on the road?

Secondly I had to really think about that one.

Bustle Of The City

Subsequently I spent a week with friends and family in the LA area. Mobile Podcast Command needed service. Between having six or seven people in the house and three kids it was hectic to say the least.

Seeking Solitude

Consequently rather than head up the Pacific Coast I sought the solitude of Death Valley.

Hub Bub Is Good

To clarify I’d just say I think travelers need the normalcy and hub bub of family life every now and then.

So Is Solitude

However I have come to rely on the solitude this life brings. I’ll share why in Death-Valley-Solitude-Heaven-Bob Davis Podcast 999.

Enter Death Valley

What better place to enjoy it than in the vastness of Death Valley.

Desert Meditation

These days the more time I spend in the desert the more I value the whole thing as a sort of meditation.

Rock and Hot Wind

To sum up I don’t need incense and chanting. I just need to see rock, sand and feel the hot wind.

Modern Life?

Moreover it seems to me that much of what we take as the essentials of modern life is pretty much nonsense.

Conversation

Especially conversation.

Mountains and Canyons

For example, gossip, politics, movies and TV shows all pale in contrast to the view into a Death Valley canyon from a mountaintop.

Deep Conversation

Most importantly it makes me wonder why conversation isn’t deeper.

Search For Meaning

How important certain people are to us.

What the meaningful things in life really are.

Why People Seek Out The Wilderness

In addition I used to wonder why so many Van life and nomad people seek out the wilderness.

Now I know.

Learning Something About Solitude

Further at the edge of these mountains and throughout my nomad travel experience I’ve learned something about solitude.

Pleased To Meet You

In conclusion the thing I’ve learned is you meet yourself on the road.

Everyday People

And, above all, some amazing everyday people.

Buddy-Holly-West-Texas-History-Bob Davis Podcast 994

West Texas Buddy Holly History

Firstly there’s a lot of history in West Texas including Lubbock’s Buddy Holly Center. Nomad friend Don Anger joins me to talk about it all in Buddy-Holly-West-Texas-History-Bob Davis Podcast 994.

Still Heading West

I am certainly continuing my nomad travels, heading west.

West Texas

And there is no more West than West Texas.

Firstly as I move west the roadside markers slowly change from historic periods.

Secondly the wind.

Boom and Bust

In addition the boom and bust nature of Texas. Especially West Texas.

Therefore you come across whole towns that have been abandoned over the years.

Those Highways

Even more highways that seem to go on forever.

Music and History Collide

On the other hand Don is a music guy.

As a result Buddy-Holly-West-Texas-History-Bob Davis Podcast 994 is a nice balance between the two.

Unique Nature Of Texas

Most importantly I think we both realize the unique nature of an amazing place called Texas.

Influence Of Lubbock

In conclusion how interesting it is that someone who had so much influence hails from Lubbock Texas.

Twentieth Century Experience

To clarify this town in West Texas exemplifies the twentieth century experience in the west.

Ranching Oil Business

That is to say ranching, oil, rail roads, cowboys and grassroots business people.

Buddy Holly

Finally from road side markers and ghost towns to Buddy Holly.

A lot worth talking about.

There’s a Feeling You Get

Most importantly there’s a feeling you get out here. For example the sky. Wind. Heat.

In short something about this place calms me down.

All About Distance

Could be the distance from one destination to another. Might be the seemingly lonely places you pass through.

But you’ll never forget West Texas.

Authentic-Creativity-Nomad-Travel-Bob Davis Podcast 989

Authentic Creativity and Nomad Travel

First of all authentic creativity and nomad travel go together. Secondly we’ll talk about it in depth in Authentic-Creativity-Nomad-Travel-Bob Davis Podcast 989.

Authenticity

Most importantly while people value authenticity, there isn’t much of it around.

Thought Processes of Creating

Certainly I consider thought processes as a part of creating content.

Lots of Content

On the other hand there’s a lot of content on various platforms.

Not Genuine

Even more much of this content doesn’t seem genuine, creative or authentic.

No Time To Think and Dream

To clarify I don’t think content creators have enough time to think and dream.

Too Busy To Create!

In short many creators are too ‘busy’ to create.

Enter the nomad lifestyle.

Above all there’s no tether for the nomad. There’s no ‘coming home’. Because the nomad is home where ever he is.

The Zen Of Nomad Life

Moreover I’ve learned there is a zen to this life.

More Time Somehow

In the same vein there’s more time think and to think about what you’re thinking about!

In Depth

At least that is how I have experienced it. And, I talk about it in depth in Authentic-Creativity-Nomad-Travel-Bob Davis Podcast 989.

Untethered

Finally there is something about the pace of ‘untethered‘ travel.

Whim Is Real

For example the ability to decide to go South or North, East or West depending on your whim.

Time Slows Down

In other words time does slow down. You are alone with your thoughts.

No Peace In Today’s Culture

To sum up sometimes it seems as though you can’t get a moment’s peace in our day to day culture.

Not Easy

For instance we’re always listening to watching something. Texting. Communicating. Stop and go traffic.

In addition it feels like most people are just irritated just about all the time.

Nothing Is Easy

Not A Care In The World

Likewise I have had some bad days traveling but for the most part it’s like I don’t have a care in the world.

Happy?

In short the other day someone asked me if I was happy.

“Happier than I have ever been”, I said.
