Podcast 114 – Ying Ma

Ying Ma joins Bob Davis to talk about China’s strengths and weaknesses in relation to the United States and the rest of the world. Will China’s rise mean America’s fall? US First Lady Michelle Obama’s China trip is generating controversy, but there isn’t much substantive conversation about what China’s rise means, what the economic slowdown in China may mean for the world and its political system, and America’s position in all of this. Learn the reality about China, with one of the world’s foremost experts on the subject. Ying Ma writes about China, International Affairs, the free market and conservatism. Much of her writing chronicles the crossroads of political and economic freedom and China’s rising influence on world affairs. Ying Ma is the author of Chinese Girl in The Ghetto. Podcast 113 – Sue Jeffers

A big welcome to Minnesota political activist Sue Jeffers. If you’re not happy with your government, talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words. Many are upset and many are going to meetings to talk with others of like mind about it, but these groups are not organizing to get out the vote, and to take political action. Many are bewildered when it comes to exactly what to do to bring the local, county, state and federal government to heel. Sue Jeffers gives you some great suggestions about where to go and what to do. Sponsored by Ryan Plumbing and Heating of Saint Paul.

Podcast 112

Podcast 112 is your midweek update. Congressman Paul Ryan spoke at the Center for the American Experiment in Minneapolis on Saint Patrick’s day, 2014. Ryan said a lot of good things, and there will be more from this speech in future podcasts, but I take exception with one statement. There is no ‘center right movement’. There’s a liberty and tea party movement, but moderates by definition aren’t a ‘movement’. Plus, where I think flight 370 is, why the west will do nothing about the Russian annexation of Crimea and why inaction is dangerous, the heavy energy of late March and early April. Of course my favorite stories of the week so far, including government mandated ear plugs (only in Minneapolis), Amtrak and the Oasis on the North West tollway in Chicago.
