Campfire Is The Nomad Hearth

The Campfire is the Nomad Hearth. Therefore we’ll talk about cooking and contemplating the campfire in Campfire-Is-The-Nomad-Hearth-Bob Davis Podcast 1041.

Free Camping Is Good

Firstly I have been camping around Quartzsite Arizona for several weeks now.

Firewood Source

And I’ve been buying my wood from a place called Woodstock Firewood here in town.

Drum Circle

Secondly every year about this time Woodstock Firewood has a drum circle as a celebration of the season.

This Is The Season

Most importantly this part of Arizona has a season.

Sunshine

Even more a lot of Nomads come down here for free camping and sunshine.

Short Season

But I am sorry to say everyone pretty much starts clearing out around the end of February.

However I will be staying as long as I can.

Summers Are Hot Here

Certainly the one hundred plus temperatures here in the summer aren’t inviting for most snow birds.

On the other hand I have become more and more of a desert dweller every day down here.

I don’t know whether it can get hot enough for me given my years spent in the Northern Tundra!

We’ll see.

Contemplating Nomad Hearth

Meanwhile it’s time to enjoy the drumming of the drum circle and contemplate the nomad hearth.

Something About A Campfire

Above all there’s something about the fire that eases the troubled mind of modern times.

The fire is a nomad kitchen and more.

In addition the nomad hearth is a place for stories, songs and celebrations.

As it has been for tens of thousands of years.

Likewise there’s something special and deep about the campfire.

In short the nomad hearth is just that. The center of nomad life in the campground.

Modern Life Needs A Campfire

Even more I would suggest the craziness of Modern Life could use a campfire every now and then.

Back Drop For This Podcast

As a result I think the drum circle is a perfect back drop for Campfire-Is-The-Nomad-Hearth-Bob Davis Podcast 1041.

Moving On

Eventually and finally I’ll move on from this magical place.

But I Don’t Want To

That is to say I’ll be traveling again this spring and summer.

But I am so glad to have been able to share in the community and get to know people here.

Both in town and out in the campgrounds.

In short I wouldn’t trade this experience over the last several weeks for anything.

Just What I Needed

Stopping down and spending time has turned out to be just what I needed.

Uncertainty-Principle-Bob Davis Podcast 1039

The Uncertainty Principle

Firstly the uncertainty principle is about uncertainty in our world these days. Nomads deal with uncertainty every day. For more information check out Uncertainty-Principle-Bob Davis Podcast 1039.

New Campsite

Secondly as if to pay off on the Uncertainty Principle I had to move to a new campsite this week.

Bureau Of Land Management Rule

Certainly the rule on Bureau of Land Management free campgrounds is 14 days and you move on.

Pushing The Rules

I pushed the rule a little spending nearly three months in one location. The good news? I can come back in two weeks!

Community

On the other hand I learned a lot about the nomad community.

Life Long Friends

And made a lot of hopefully life long friends.

True Grit

Even more I personally witnessed resourcefulness and true grit among my full time nomad friends.

Happy To Move

Therefore I am not in the least upset that I had to move.

Passes Rule

Most importantly the ranger was great. We had a nice conversation about all the many sites one can access with a Long Term Visitor pass, which I possess.

Uncertainty

Above all it made me think about the uncertainty we all feel about how things are going.

Bricks And Sticks

Most importantly back in the so called bricks and sticks world.

Back In The World

Or ‘back in the world’ as I like to say.

Caution No Certainty Ahead

Moreover I do not think any of us are going to wake up some sunny morning in the near future feeling certainty.

In fact I don’t think that’s going to happen for at least one generation.

Stable and Certain World Closed For One Generation

So if you’re an adult now perhaps you’ll be able to contribute to a more stable and certain world.

Living With Uncertainty

However for the time being we’re going to have to live with uncertainty. Learn more in Uncertainty-Principle-Bob Davis Podcast 1039.

Unpacking At The New Campsite

Finally join me in this podcast as I unpack and all the mats and boxes of firewood. The groceries. Chair. You know.

Don’t Be Fooled By Cheerful Nomads

And we’ll talk about how nomads deal with uncertainty in an almost cheerful manner.

We Attack Change

In the same vein I revisit the idea that to attack change we have to observe and orient ourselves to a new situation more often than back in the world.

Make Quick Decisions

In addition we then have to make quick decisions and act on them.

Have A Lot Of Grit

Aside from the fires and pot lucks there’s a lot of grit out here in the land of the nomad.

And Surprising Flexibility

In the same vein the flexibility and willingness to embrace change is often visible among people out here you’d never expect.

Life Turning Points

In short there are three turning points in everyone’s life that can lay us out.

Death, Divorce and losing a job.

Easier On The Road

To sum up I have to feel like it is easier out here to deal with that kind of trauma and learn to embrace the future as a result.

More Fun

In conclusion I certainly can’t predict the future. But for me living out here on the road is actually easier and more fun than back in the world.
