These days no one talks about these events where people from all walks of life have interests that bring them together. I talk a lot about events like that in my podcasts.

So it was most noteworthy to attend an event that helps animals in need. In fact it was a surprise to find out I was going to have to emcee the event!

Especially relevant? Coming away from these road trips in awe of how big this country actually is. Moreover the contrast between the smallness of social media and how diverse we Americans actually are!

In the second half of this podcast some final thoughts about broken politics. Especially relevant? Russian Trolls ‘influencing’ the 2020 election. Again.

I have to point out the glaring difference between what we appear to be on social media and how we really are.

Finally my critics on one side of the political spectrum can’t seem to understand why I covered ‘the democrats’ in Iowa. Seems like no one can bear to listen to something they might disagree with!

I tell the story of getting kicked out of a Mike Pence event versus being welcomed with open arms by the supposedly ‘horrible’ democrats. I’ll also tell you why I am sitting this election and future elections out.

These days the one constant is the apparent contrast between the president and democrats on the future.

Above all Warren’s energy and passion means she projects her plans and programs like an automatic grenade launcher.

Lobbing Crowd Pleasers

The Senator lobs one program, tax plan, and initiative after another to an audience. Today in Iowa City, the audience is made up of canvassers, fans, teachers and supporters. They love it.

Hope Over Fear…And Fighting

Especially relevant is the blue Warren campaign bus with the words, “Hope Over Fear” emblazoned on it. The candidate blasts out so many ideas it’s hard for democrats not to be hopeful.

Environment, Spending, Wealth Tax

Most noteworthy are plans for education and environment, a wealth tax, and spending. Spending for child care and child care workers, public schools, forgiving student debt, making college free, and medicare for all.

Super Rich Look Out

Even more she plans to ‘pay for’ all these programs with a tax on the super rich.

Corruption

It seemed to me she is best when talking about corruption in Washington and in what she calls ‘our’ government.

Look Out Politicians and Tax Cheats

Senator Warren says it’s time to end lobbying. Also she wants anyone running for federal office to have to put their tax returns on line. Even more, she says it’s time the US Supreme Court lives up to ‘ethical standards’.

On Record No Judgement

These days after a few days on the campaign trail you start to see and hear patterns in all the speeches candidates make. Steyer is no exception. The main theme? President Donald Trump.

Most noteworthy quotes from Steyer include comparing the republican administration to the holocaust. Trump’s a racist. Incompetent. A criminal.

In contrast to cheap talk though, Steyer has put his money where his mouth is for years. NextGen Climate and most recently Need To Impeach have mobilized millions.

Organize Highest Democrat Turn Out Ever

Furthermore Steyer intends to use experience with NextGen America and Need To Impeach to deliver the what he says will be the highest democratic turn out in history. Smart and Detailed

Especially relevant here is the fact that Steyer is smart and detailed. Consequently he talks. A. Lot. That means editing down hours of speaking and questions from the audience into a capsulized version of what actually went down.

Furthermore my intention is to take podcast listeners into these events with no judgements. I sincerely hope I was able to do this with Steyer. In addition, this time I talked to some of the people at the event.

Everyone Listen…Republicans Too

In conclusion I am sure my democrat friends will love most of what Steyer has to say. Republicans not so much in contrast. Still, I hope my republican friends can listen to understand the issues.

Actionable Proposals

Above all, despite the red meat, I sense most of the actionable proposals are surprisingly moderate. Even for Tom Steyer. That should concern republicans, because those kinds of ideas are not easily dismissed.
