Final Hours Energy

I can feel the energy fromĀ  candidates in the last few hours before the Iowa Caucuses on February 3rd. You will hear it in Election2020-Warren-Stumps-Iowa-City-Bob Davis Podcast 900.

Big Plans

First of all, these candidates have big plans.

Contrast

These days the one constant is the apparent contrast between the president and democrats on the future.

Automatic Grenade Launcher

Above all Warren’s energy and passion means she projects her plans and programs like an automatic grenade launcher.

Lobbing Crowd Pleasers

The Senator lobs one program, tax plan, and initiative after another to an audience. Today in Iowa City, the audience is made up of canvassers, fans, teachers and supporters. They love it.

Hope Over Fear…And Fighting

Especially relevant is the blue Warren campaign bus with the words, “Hope Over Fear” emblazoned on it. The candidate blasts out so many ideas it’s hard for democrats not to be hopeful.

Environment, Spending, Wealth Tax

Most noteworthy are plans for education and environment, a wealth tax, and spending. Spending for child care and child care workers, public schools, forgiving student debt, making college free, and medicare for all.

Super Rich Look Out

Even more she plans to ‘pay for’ all these programs with a tax on the super rich.

Corruption

It seemed to me she is best when talking about corruption in Washington and in what she calls ‘our’ government.

Look Out Politicians and Tax Cheats

Senator Warren says it’s time to end lobbying. Also she wants anyone running for federal office to have to put their tax returns on line. Even more, she says it’s time the US Supreme Court lives up to ‘ethical standards’.

On Record No Judgement

Finally it’s all in Election2020-Warren-Stumps-Iowa-City-Bob Davis Podcast 900. These podcasts from the campaign trail in Iowa this January and February are about getting the candidates on record without judgement.

Boatloads Of Fun

Certainly I hope these podcasts from the campaign trail become resources this election year.

It’s sure a boatload of fun out here.

On The Road In Iowa

I am live on the road covering the democrats in Iowa. With the much talked about Iowa Caucuses less than ten days away, the campaigning is in its final stages here. Most noteworthy is an appearance from a Fairfield favorite Marianne Williamson in Election2020-Andrew-Yang-Fairfield-Iowa-Bob Davis Podcast 894.

Fresh Approach To Campaign Coverage

I have a fresh approach to campaign coverage. In contrast to everyone else, I won’t tell you what to think and I am certainly not going to tell anyone who to vote for.

Taking You Inside

Because of my strict observance of this rule, my podcasts covering these events takes the listener inside the event. Moreover I’m not there to judge or tell subscribers and listeners whether the candidate is right or wrong.

No Judgements

Seems like all media outlets these days are bent on telling you what to think. As a result I think it’s time for political coverage that doesn’t do that.

Younger Voters

What’s especially relevant about Andrew Yang at this event is the appeal to younger voters and to the tech community.

Universal Basic Income and Tech

Yang’s self described signature proposal is a universal basic income for all Americans. He spends a lot of time talking about the inevitable loss of jobs due to artificial intelligence and robotics. Hear Andrew Yang in Election2020-Andrew-Yang-Fairfield-Iowa-Bob Davis Podcast 894.

Fairfield Iowa Is Unique

Fairfield Iowa isn’t just a farm town either. It’s home to a sizeable meditation community as well as a tech community.

Workers and Farmers

Finally Yang and other democratic candidates vying for a strong showing in the caucuses have been touring communities hit hard by the loss of manufacturing jobs over the last thirty years.

Where The Votes Are

Also important is the fact that many of the democrat candidates are going to where the democrat votes are, in the final week or so of campaigning.

Seven Days

I’ll talk more about the trip including my personal observations in the next podcast from the campaign trail.

America’s-Road-To-Oblivion-Bob Davis Podcast 888

Is Populism The Road To Oblivion?

First of all, I’ll say it if no one else will. I think our politics is too focused on ‘the little guy’. Is populism the road to oblivion for us? Learn more inĀ  America’s-Road-To-Oblivion-Bob Davis Podcast 888.

What’s Populism?

What is Populism? Where did it come from? I’ll tell you in this podcast.

Give The People What They Want, Right?

Certainly populism as a tactic does not have a cohesive ideology. I will point out it’s not about addressing specific issues. It’s about giving the people what they want.

Business As Usual Especially When They Say They It Won’t Be

Moreover I think politicians playing to the cheap seats risk making very bad decisions. Finally, it’s not just politicians.

Voting Against Yourself

It’s especially relevant to remember voters often make choices against their own best interests.

Democrats AND Republicans

Furthermore populism doesn’t call one of the two parties ‘home’. Populism is present in both party’s ‘business as usual’ politicians.

That’s Right…Populism

Consequently when democrats promise free basic incomes, free education and free health insurance. Or when republicans promise trade policies to protect coal miners, steel workers and farmers. It’s all the same. Populism.

A More Powerful Government

Meanwhile it sure seems like this trend leads to a more dangerously powerful and expensive government. Learn more in America’s-Road-To-Oblivion-Bob Davis Podcast 888.

Banana Republic Or Rome?

Due to masses lining up with their hands out, blaming capitalism or the deep state for all their problems we’re on the road to oblivion. We might end up banana republic, joining the other dead societies in history. Hence, Oblivion.

Don’t Hold Your Breath

Therefore I offer a small quiet voice of protest. Will it get fixed? Not anytime soon I am afraid.

Sorry but…

This just has to run its course.

(Editor’s Note: I refer to William Jennings Bryan as Wilson’s ‘former’ Secretary of State when discussing the election of 1896. Obviously Jennings became Secretary of State much later.)
