Considering The Nomad Life

These days there’s a lot of people considering the nomad life.

Certainly John is not alone in this interest.

So he rented a van, threw his gear in the back and headed out to the desert to join us for New Year’s.

Above all that’s a great opportunity for a podcast and we didn’t miss it.

Most importantly as I reevaluate what I am doing and make plans for the second year of the nomad experience I certainly have come to appreciate where I am.

That is to say I am partial to what some might call quirky and dusty desert towns like this one.

Consequently it ended up being a fun audio tour of what has become the nomad mecca.

Serving The Nomads

Further we talk about many of the small businesses here that do such a great job serving nomads of all stripes and walks of life.

For example the Coyote Market and Road Runner markets and my personal favorite the MAGA Campground.

Yes there is a MAGA campground.

Desert Rats

Even more John and I believe we have discovered a tremendous business opportunity in ridding campers of the scourge of desert rats!

But you’ll have to listen to the end for that.

To sum up I probably won’t be in this spot forever but I am having a blast for the time being.

However most people have questions about how every day life is as a nomad.

Do I smell like smoke.

In addition, what do I eat?

Even more what about all the other nomads?

Rigs, Retirement or Making Money On The Road

In the same vein I get a lot of questions about whether most of my fellow nomads are retired military and what rigs they’re all driving.

Meanwhile you’ve heard my comments about the trend toward organizing and nomad ‘movement’.

Social Structure

Finally there are many questions about what the so called social structure is out here.

In short we try not to have one.

To sum up I do get a lot of simple questions about nomad life.

After that I usually forget the simple questions and concentrate on complicating it as much as possible!

Winter In The Desert

In conclusion every now and then we get a cloudy or cold day during the winter out here in the desert.

Days For Simple Tasks

Consequently those are the best days for simple tasks like laundry, filling propane, getting more wood and groceries.

The Way It Is

And that’s the way our media is these days.

What It All Means

That is to say most of the time we’re deluged with reports about what something that has happened ‘means’.

Predictions

Even more almost every news story contains a prediction about what’s going to happen as the result of some event.

The Land Of The Nomad

However most of these predictions and even news reports don’t effect the Land Of The Nomad.

Different Frequency

Maybe it is for the reason that we’re on a different frequency, or rhythm.

Certainly that’s how I experience it.

Sun Moon and Stars

Moreover I tell time by the sun, moon and stars these days.

What Day Is It?

In addition many of us don’t even know what day it is. Or care.

Rooted In The Desert

Avoiding Higher Fuel Prices

My plan was to avoid the higher price of fuel and free camp.

Rolling and Rolling

During the past year I spent most of my time rolling across the country. I stopped only to visit friends and relatives.

New Experience

Therefore it is a new experience to be stopped.

And I am loving it!

Every Day Is New

In conclusion after one year of nomad travel I have learned it is above all a new experience every day.

Movement?

On the other hand these days the nomad experience is being referred to as a ‘movement’.

Anarchy

As a result the human desire to codify, communicate and organize threatens the beautiful anarchy here.

In the same vein so many people have YouTube channels sometimes I feel like I am at a broadcasting convention.

Not A Joiner

To sum up I’m not a joiner.

Fun

On the other hand I am having a lot of fun meeting and getting to know people.

Stay Wild Moon Child

Most importantly I hope the Nomad Thing stays wild.
