Celebrating Two Years A Nomad

Firstly very happy to be celebrating two years of nomad travel. Of course year two is very different from year one. Learn more in Celebrating-Two-Years-Nomad-Travel-Bob Davis Podcast 1077.

Review and Travelogue

Secondly reviewing the year takes the form of a travelogue.

Thanks and Appreciation

And there are many people to thank along the way.

Fuel Prices

Certainly fuel prices dictated a change in how this nomad travels.

Most importantly I like to drive.

That is to say I am one of these people who can cover a lot of ground.

Quartzsite

But at the beginning of this second year of nomad travel those fuel prices grounded me in Quartzsite, Arizona.

More To Nomad Life Than Driving

As a result I realized this is life is like peeling an onion.

New Layers

Therefore getting down to the new layers this year meant friendships and more.

Remembering Details

In addition I had to review images and podcasts from the year to remember details!

Like A Dream

In other words much of this life is so much like a dream sometimes that’s how you remember it.

Utah and Colorado

For example reviewing images on my phone made me realize I did do some travel this summer.

And got to know Utah and Colorado pretty well.

Friendships

Above all this has been a year of developing friendships and realizing the benefits of the nomad community.

Adventure

As well as quite a few adventures.

Stories In This Podcast

Certainly I’ll tell a few stories from the experience in this podcast.

A Nomad’s Childhood Roots

However I go back to my childhood for some snapshots that explain the drive to hit the road later in life.

Healthier Life

More importantly I have outlined the reasons I think this lifestyle is actually healthier than life back in the world in previous podcasts.

Community and Bonds

Even more it’s the community and bonds with people I have met that made the most of the year.

Nature Of Our Time

Finally I don’t think any of us know where we’ll be in a year.

Indeed that seems to be the nature of the time we’re living through.

Choices

On the other hand we do have choices.

The Road Is The Prescription

Hitting the highway for adventure and growth certainly was the prescription for me.

Monsoon-Musings-Bob Davis Podcast 1066

Monsoon Musings

Late summer means the Monsoon season out west and that means it’s time for some Monsoon Musings. In my case that means midnight between downpours. Up in the mountains in Monsoon-Musings-Bob Davis Podcast 1066.

Monsoons Are Not Created Equal

Firstly every year out here is different when it comes to the Monsoon.

Bad Monsoon

Secondly this is a bad Monsoon.

Above all it seems like every afternoon the thunderheads come up and the downpours start.

Spectacular Storms

Certainly the storms are more spectacular in the deserts down toward Phoenix.

Utah Monsoon

However I am in Utah.

And Utah has its share of summer storms.

Flooding

For example it doesn’t take much rain to produce flooding and a lot of mud.

Campsite Flooded

In fact my campsite was flooded when I recorded Monsoon-Musings-Bob Davis Podcast 1066.

Stay On The Black Top

On the other hand that is why nomads avoid sandy and dirt roads this time of year and park on the black top.

Reflections

But it’s a great time for reflections.

Musings

Monsoon Musings.

In the same vein I have been up in Salt Lake for a lot longer than I would have liked.

Consequently I have a few stories from my truck stop and Walmart parking lot stays.

In addition I had a chance to scout the whole area for great campgrounds.

Bryce Canyon

Finally I headed up to the Bryce Canyon area and camping at King’s Creek in the Dixie National Forest.

[Editor’s Note: Of course I called it King’s Crossing in the podcast!)

Dixie National Forest

To clarify this campground is about nine thousand feet up. When it rains there it’s cold.

Fog!

And foggy.

Red Rock Road

Therefore I was happy to get back down to the desert near Red Rock.

Two Takeaways

To clarify there’s two takeaways from this podcast.

Desperation In The Truck Stops and Parking Lots

Firstly I don’t think I have seen this many homeless and desperate people in the truck stops and parking lots in my travels.

And Utah has services and plenty of room for broken down car dwellers.

Nomads Have A Dream

Secondly it’s been my experience that nomads have a dream.

That is to say many nomads dream of a piece of land somewhere in the mountains.

Or beaches.

Forests too.

In short we talk a lot about what one would need for the perfect off grid ‘cabin in the woods’.

My Heart Is On The Road

But on the other hand my heart is not in those discussions although I don’t mind having them over a fireside steak and a piping hot cup of coffee.

My Cabin In The Woods

In conclusion Mobile Podcast Command is my cabin in the woods, mountain or beach.

Gratitude

And I am very grateful to stay on the move.

Sacrifice-And-Nomad-Life-Bob Davis Podcast 1065

Sacrifice And Nomad Life

Above all after nearly two years on the road it’s a good time to talk about Sacrifice And Nomad life. We’ll do it in Sacrifice-And-Nomad-Life-Bob Davis Podcast 1065.

Not Forced

Firstly this life wasn’t forced on me.

Sacrifice

Secondly I sacrificed a great deal by making the decision to go on the road.

Conversation

Certainly this has been a topic of conversation in these podcasts.

Utah

But these days I am in Utah.

Even more I am in Utah waiting for truck service, among other things.

Time To Think

Therefore I have time to think.

And that is not always good.

Podcast From Around The Campfire

Firstly join me around the campfire in Sacrifice-And-Nomad-Life-Bob Davis Podcast 1065 to discuss these issues.

Recent Experiences and High Summer

Secondly I’ll tell some stories about recent experiences.

Changes Out On The Road

That is to say things out here seem to have changed a bit due to inflation and other issues.

Desperation In The Air

So I see a little more desperation in the parking lots and truck stops than I remember seeing in 2020.

Sacrifice and Life On The Road

Consequently I end up thinking a little more about sacrifice and life on the road.

Would I Go Back?

For example what would I go back to my own life?

Just Beginning To Learn

But I came to the conclusion that I have only scratched the surface of what one can learn out here.

Auspicious Time

To clarify I think this is an auspicious time to be a nomad.

Back Roads and Highways

In short there’s a lot going on out on the back roads and highways of this country.

Experiences and Lessons

Even more it’s the experiences and the lessons learned that keep me wanting more.

And Friends

Not to mention the friends I’ve made.

Choose Again

In addition I would still choose the timelines and alternative life.

Powerful Inner Voice

For example when I made my decision there was a powerful inner voice which said, just go.

Just Push On

On the other hand now my inner voice seems to be saying, just push on ahead a little further.

To sum up things are a little different out here this year versus last.

But no less interesting.
