Sacrifice-And-Nomad-Life-Bob Davis Podcast 1065

Sacrifice And Nomad Life

Above all after nearly two years on the road it’s a good time to talk about Sacrifice And Nomad life. We’ll do it in Sacrifice-And-Nomad-Life-Bob Davis Podcast 1065.

Not Forced

Firstly this life wasn’t forced on me.

Sacrifice

Secondly I sacrificed a great deal by making the decision to go on the road.

Conversation

Certainly this has been a topic of conversation in these podcasts.

Utah

But these days I am in Utah.

Even more I am in Utah waiting for truck service, among other things.

Time To Think

Therefore I have time to think.

And that is not always good.

Podcast From Around The Campfire

Firstly join me around the campfire in Sacrifice-And-Nomad-Life-Bob Davis Podcast 1065 to discuss these issues.

Recent Experiences and High Summer

Secondly I’ll tell some stories about recent experiences.

Changes Out On The Road

That is to say things out here seem to have changed a bit due to inflation and other issues.

Desperation In The Air

So I see a little more desperation in the parking lots and truck stops than I remember seeing in 2020.

Sacrifice and Life On The Road

Consequently I end up thinking a little more about sacrifice and life on the road.

Would I Go Back?

For example what would I go back to my own life?

Just Beginning To Learn

But I came to the conclusion that I have only scratched the surface of what one can learn out here.

Auspicious Time

To clarify I think this is an auspicious time to be a nomad.

Back Roads and Highways

In short there’s a lot going on out on the back roads and highways of this country.

Experiences and Lessons

Even more it’s the experiences and the lessons learned that keep me wanting more.

And Friends

Not to mention the friends I’ve made.

Choose Again

In addition I would still choose the timelines and alternative life.

Powerful Inner Voice

For example when I made my decision there was a powerful inner voice which said, just go.

Just Push On

On the other hand now my inner voice seems to be saying, just push on ahead a little further.

To sum up things are a little different out here this year versus last.

But no less interesting.

Colorado-Abundance-Bob Davis Podcast 1060

Colorado Abundance

Firstly talking about Colorado and Abundance these days is a little strange. Learn more in Colorado-Abundance-Bob Davis Podcast 1060.

Scarcity?

Secondly given all the problems we’re dealing with maybe I should do a podcast about scarcity.

But I don’t feel that way.

What Is Important

Above all in these difficult times we all have to assess what is actually important.

Not About Material Possessions

And I don’t think of abundance as being related to material goods.

A Lot Of Something

Certainly the word abundance means a lot of something. Anything.

Keep It Simple

Most importantly I have come to believe that if you appreciate what you have and keep things simple you will feel abundance.

Even Austere

That is to say a sense of comfort and having a lot of what you need.

Pressure Cookers

Of course living in a pressure cooker because you have to pay bills doesn’t contribute to a sense of safety or abundance.

Less Is Indeed More

On the other than it is a surprise to have learned through the nomad experience the less I have the more abundant I feel.

Losses

For example we have all dealt with the loss of loved ones in the last couple of years.

Left Behind

Even more we often find ourselves overwhelmed by how much is left behind.

Is This Important?

Therefore one wonders whether any of this stuff is important?

Keep It Simple

Meanwhile many people are downsizing and simplifying.

Pop Culture Goes Dark

In the same vein “abundance” used to be a big word in pop culture.

You don’t see it as much these days.

Rich?

In addition if abundance is defined as being rich many of us are going to feel like we have fallen behind.

Not At The Gas Pump

Moreover one needs only one trip to the gas station to feel poor.

What I Need

Meanwhile as I camp and roll through Colorado and the rest of the Southwestern US I find myself getting what I need, when I need it.

Million Dollar View

Furthermore many million dollar views and experiences in the forests and campgrounds often for free.

Too Beautiful For Words

Finally some of these experiences are too beautiful for words.

Choice

In conclusion real freedom is being able to choose the experiences we have.

Breakout

In short we don’t have to live in a prison we created.

Escape

There are lots of ways to escape.

Pipeline-Fire-Flagstaff-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1058

Pipeline Fire In Flagstaff Arizona

Above all I am about 3 miles from the Pipeline Fire in Flagstaff Arizona. However my experiences South of here inform what happened here. Learn more in Pipeline-Fire-Flagstaff-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1058.

Coconino National Forest

Firstly I was camping in the Coconino National Forest about 20 miles South of Flagstaff.

Blatant Disregard

Secondly what I saw there was blatant disregard of the no fire rule by campers.

Freedom?

Of course we all want freedom.

Rules

Certainly nobody likes rules.

Don’t Be An Idiot

But freedom doesn’t mean being an idiot.

Negligence Caused Pipeline Fire

For example a local was arrested leaving the scene of the fire in Flagstaff. He had ignored the burn ban and started the fire.

Park Ranger View

I had a great conversation with a park ranger in the same vein.

Too Many People

To clarify there are too many visitors and according to the ranger they don’t listen.

And she said the rangers would rather tell people what they can do.

Due to the number of visitors in paid sites the National Forest shunts people to dispersed camping sites North of Sedona and South of Flagstaff.

Dispersed Camping Is Primitive

As a result there are no vault toilets or trash facilities.

Modern Americans Don’t Do Primitive

Apparently modern Americans don’t know what to do with that.

Let’s Have A Campfire!

Furthermore if they want a campfire then they light one.

Stories To Tell

In Pipeline-Fire-Flagstaff-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1058 I’ll tell some stories about some of the things that went on in that dispersed campground this weekend.

Forest Service

Moreover things that provoked a visit in force from the Forest Service.

These Are Spaces To Appreciate

To sum up it’s amazing to me that people don’t fully appreciate how lucky we are to have these spaces to experience.

Not Destroy

Even more a forest fire is incredibly destructive during and after the burn.

Sad

And it’s sad when the fire starts because someone just wants to do what they want to do.

In conclusion I don’t get into the debate about how they manage these forests. Truth is there is a generational drought in the west.

A sign that says no fires means no fire.

Sad that has to be said.
