Peter-Santenello-Interview-Bob Davis Podcast 1169

Peter Santenello Interview

Firstly Peter Santenello joins the Bob Davis Podcast for an Interview.

Three Years Ago

Secondly Peter and I became acquainted three years ago at Quartzite, Arizona.

In addition Peter and I became pretty good friends as a result of that interaction three years ago.

Furthermore he has helped me with my YouTube Project.

Experience In The Desert

Not to mention the fact that appearing in a video on Santenllo’s channel documenting his experience with us in the desert that year.

Collaboration

Equally if not more important is our collaboration this month on a video in Arizona.

Arizona Diversity

To begin with Arizona has so many diverse cities and towns.

Stories To Tell

And there are always stories to tell.

Therefore our trip entailed visiting four completely different Arizona Towns.

That is to say Sedona, Clarksburg, The Yavapai-Apache Nation, Jerome and Prescott.

New Rig Co-Stars

Even more my new rig, Mobile Podcast Command Unit 11, is prominently featured in Peter’s new video.

Audio Podcast

Thirdly we decided to sit down for a podcast on my channel the day after our little tour of mid northern Arizona.

Because I create unique content for the audio podcast as opposed to the video channel, Peter-Santenello-Interview-Bob Davis Podcast 1169, includes content not in the video on my YouTube Channel found here.

Also Peter’s YouTube Channel is here.

Experiences

Afterward we talked about the trip, and the experiences we had.

Social Media Isn’t Real

For one thing we agree the America people experience through social media is not the reality.

Travel Opens The Mind

In the hope this fact may be better understood Peter and I discuss how travel broadens the mind and softens harsh judgements.

Fourthly we talk about Peter’s experience with his many videos and interviews.

Great Adventure

All in all we had a great adventure.

Arizona History

In essence telling part of the Arizona Historical story and sharing our own observations.

All things considered we talked about the mining and ranching history of Arizona as well as our impressions of life in The Grand Canyon State.

And Grand It Is.

Road-To-Shambala-Bob Davis Podcast 1059

Road To Shambala

Firstly the road to Shambala took me through the Grand Canyon, Navajo Nation and the San Juan Mountains. Learn more in Road-To-Shambala-Bob Davis Podcast 1059.

Obsession

Secondly the road to Shambala is all about a bit of an obsession these days.

Tired Of The Vice

Certainly younger adults are beginning to tire of high rents and home prices back in the world.

And the day to day pressure in big cities that has begun to feel like a vice.

Welcoming Community

Therefore there’s a lot of conversation about how to design and build a welcoming community.

Sustainable Community

Even more a sustainable community that works.

Welcome to Shambala!

Mountains

Nestled high in the mountains of Colorado.

Mining And Farming

Above all Shambala is a mining and farm community.

But with a twist.

Dedicated To Community

Most of Shambala’s new and long term residents are committed to building just such a community mentioned above.

So far they’re making it work.

Don’t Tell Anyone

And that is why they don’t want anyone to know the actual name of the town.

Cooperation and Collaboration

For example community kitchens, Waldorf based schools and a spirit of cooperation and collaboration.

Most importantly this is a community that works at being a community.

Questions

Certainly I have questions. We’ll talk about them in Road-To-Shambala-Bob Davis Podcast 1059.

Thai Food At The Community Kitchen

However it’s pretty amazing to be able to enjoy Thai Food at the community kitchen with ingredients picked that morning from a local farm.

Newborns Welcome

Another for instance might be how the town welcomes new born babies.

Celebrations and Events

In addition there are plenty of town celebrations and events.

Networking

Finally it is an idea people network and work toward in Shambala.

Huge Trend

In conclusion interest in sustainability and community is a huge trend with certain demographics today.

In short it is great to see the work pay off in the community.

Not Bougie

Finally Shambala is a western mountain town without bougie trappings.

No Expensive Development

And without the expensive development that has ruined so many other western towns.

Bougie-Sedona-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1023

Bougie Sedona Arizona

Firstly if you like spas, hair and nails, pretentious art and Tortellini then Bougie Sedona Arizona is for you. Learn more in Bougie-Sedona-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1023.

A General Store And Shacks For Hippies No More

Secondly many remember when Sedona was a General Store and a few shacks where hippies lived.

Welcome To Myrtle Beach

However these days Sedona is more like Myrtle Beach than Arizona.

Bottom Of The Barrel

And Myrtle Beach is the bottom of the Barrel.

True West?

Even more locals and old timers remember when all these towns around here were true western mountain towns.

How Picking Up My Mail Became A Trip Through Newport California

Most importantly I came to Sedona to pick up my mail!

But even the mail effort did not work out here.

Some Great Campgrounds Though…In The National Forest

On the other hand I found some great National Forest Campgrounds Between Bougie Sedona and what some even call Bougie Flagstaff.

And I was able to stay up there for three days.

Day Areas Crowded

In addition there’s so much great hiking up there even the day areas are crowded.

In Season…Or Not

Therefore if you’re coming during before or after the season expect LA level traffic jams

Lots Of Pretty People There

Certainly the good news is lots of really good looking people sitting in their two hundred thousand dollar Mercedes Coupes and Porsche Cayenne’s.

Welcome To The Jersey Shore

Consequently one can only accept that these once western towns have become just like Orange County California, or even worse the Jersey Shore.

In the same vein you expect traffic jams and saltwater taffy on the shore.

Even the locals think it’s gone way too far. You’ll hear them in Bougie-Sedona-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1023.

Kitsch

On the other hand you don’t expect that level of kitsch in the mountains of Arizona.

We All Want An Experience

Finally everyone wants a unique experience these days.

Camping. Hiking. Breathing the fresh air.

These ‘wants’ have become ‘needs’.

Just Not This Experience

In short this development question comes up again and again in my travels.

The Search For The Unspoiled West Continues

We all have to travel to the most remote sections to find what one might think of as unspoiled.

To sum up I get it.

I’m not against people making money.

Or the idea that certain things are necessary in small towns.

Pave Paradise…

But I think there’s a real question and concern about development destroying whatever remains of the myth and reality of what once was…

The Old West.
