Summer Travel Solitaire 2022 Review

Firstly doing a summer travel solitaire 2022 review means defining what low and slow travel is. Details in Summer-Travel-Solitaire-2022-Review-Bob Davis Podcast 1071.

Taking My Time

Secondly taking my time has allowed me to opportunity to meet people and experience the American Southwest more completely.

Not A Beginner

And I am not a beginner when it comes to travel.

Deeper Experience

However I have enjoyed a deeper experience of this part of the country this year than ever before.

Solitaire

Even more my experience has been solitaire.

Why Choose The Nomad Path

Certainly Summer-Travel-Solitaire-2022-Review-Bob Davis Podcast 1071 gives me an opportunity to open up a little about why I chose the nomad path.

Thousand Mile Chunks

In addition shifting from barnstorming across the country in great thousand mile plus chunks has made a huge difference in fuel consumption.

Four States In Depth

Consequently I got to know four states in depth this summer.

For instance, Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Eastern California.

Made A Good Plan

Most importantly I made a good plan.

Stuck To The Plan

Moreover I stuck to that plan through the summer.

In the same vein nomads often trouble sticking to the plan.

Likewise this nomad!

Traveling Alone

To sum up what has traveling alone been like?

Winter In Quartzsite

And why spend winter in Quartzsite Arizona?

Pivotal Time

Finally I think we all understand we’re living through a pivotal time.

On The Road Is Special

Above all experiencing this time on the road is really special.

Depressed Farm Towns

For example I’ve spend some time in California’s depressed farm towns.

Hippie Towns

And hippie towns in Colorado.

Forest Fires

Experienced a forest fire in Arizona.

Small Towns

And Utah’s great small towns.

Fort Collins and SnowMass Village

In addition I got to house it in Fort Collins and SnowMass.

Run The Gamut

So my experiences have run the gamut.

Kick Back Time

In conclusion it’s time to kick back and rest in Southern Arizona.

2023’s Podcast and Travel Plans

And plan next year’s podcast and travel effort.

Never Disappoints

Even though Quartzsite never disappoints when it comes to content!

Bougie-Sedona-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1023

Bougie Sedona Arizona

Firstly if you like spas, hair and nails, pretentious art and Tortellini then Bougie Sedona Arizona is for you. Learn more in Bougie-Sedona-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1023.

A General Store And Shacks For Hippies No More

Secondly many remember when Sedona was a General Store and a few shacks where hippies lived.

Welcome To Myrtle Beach

However these days Sedona is more like Myrtle Beach than Arizona.

Bottom Of The Barrel

And Myrtle Beach is the bottom of the Barrel.

True West?

Even more locals and old timers remember when all these towns around here were true western mountain towns.

How Picking Up My Mail Became A Trip Through Newport California

Most importantly I came to Sedona to pick up my mail!

But even the mail effort did not work out here.

Some Great Campgrounds Though…In The National Forest

On the other hand I found some great National Forest Campgrounds Between Bougie Sedona and what some even call Bougie Flagstaff.

And I was able to stay up there for three days.

Day Areas Crowded

In addition there’s so much great hiking up there even the day areas are crowded.

In Season…Or Not

Therefore if you’re coming during before or after the season expect LA level traffic jams

Lots Of Pretty People There

Certainly the good news is lots of really good looking people sitting in their two hundred thousand dollar Mercedes Coupes and Porsche Cayenne’s.

Welcome To The Jersey Shore

Consequently one can only accept that these once western towns have become just like Orange County California, or even worse the Jersey Shore.

In the same vein you expect traffic jams and saltwater taffy on the shore.

Even the locals think it’s gone way too far. You’ll hear them in Bougie-Sedona-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1023.

Kitsch

On the other hand you don’t expect that level of kitsch in the mountains of Arizona.

We All Want An Experience

Finally everyone wants a unique experience these days.

Camping. Hiking. Breathing the fresh air.

These ‘wants’ have become ‘needs’.

Just Not This Experience

In short this development question comes up again and again in my travels.

The Search For The Unspoiled West Continues

We all have to travel to the most remote sections to find what one might think of as unspoiled.

To sum up I get it.

I’m not against people making money.

Or the idea that certain things are necessary in small towns.

Pave Paradise…

But I think there’s a real question and concern about development destroying whatever remains of the myth and reality of what once was…

The Old West.

Go-East-Young-Man-Bob Davis Podcast 1005

Go East Young Man

Go East Young Man. Certainly I love the west. But I’ve never been to Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Ride along with me in Go-East-Young-Man-Bob Davis Podcast 1005.

Summer Travel

Firstly summer is the time to make this trip.

No Drought Here

Secondly we’re hearing a lot of drought talk because of the situation out west.

Lush Fields

However the fields through central Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and New York are lush.

Small Town Love

Meanwhile all along Route 2, US 6 and US 20 are some amazing small towns and places of interest.

History

Now what is interesting to me is unique.

Certainly history.

Industrial Revolution In Reverse

Therefore I am subtitling this podcast, “The Industrial Revolution Tour In Reverse”.

In other words the Industrial Revolution began in Rhode Island in the late 1700’s.

Then spread west.

Because I am headed east across America’s Industrial Heartland it’s the Industrial Revolution…in reverse!

Rust Belt?

In short they used to call this part of the country The Rust Belt. It’s not descriptive these days.

Help Wanted

These days there help wanted signs are everywhere through Indiana and Ohio.

Back Roads Rule

Even more back roads travel allows the nomad to get granular.

US and State Two Lane Highways

To clarify on these state and US Highways you see details you’d never see on the Interstates.

Mennonites On Bicycles

For example Mennonites on bicycles.

Not a band name.

A real thing.

Twentieth Century Story

Most importantly I get a sense of the development all across this area in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

Firstly the farmers. Secondly the railroads. Finally the development of these small towns across northern tier.

As a result some of those towns became the big towns that wrote the twentieth century story.

Nomad Vibe

Above all this is one of the big reasons I became a nomad.

And why I love back roads.

Drive and Talk

To sum up sometimes the best thing is to drive and talk.

In conclusion that’s what Go-East-Young-Man-Bob Davis Podcast 1005 is all about.

Road Trip!

I’ve been on a lot of road trips with friends and they have always gotten a huge kick out of my observations.

So climb in and let’s go.
