Loves-Truck-Stop-Love-Bob Davis Podcast 1091

Loves Truck Stop Love

Firstly it’s time for some Loves Truck Stop Love. I’ve spent a lot of time in these places. Details in Loves-Truck-Stop-Love-Bob Davis Podcast 1091.

Tom Love Passes Away

Secondly the guy who built the Love’s Truck and Travel Stop chain Love’s passes away recently at 85.

Live Podcast

Therefore it’s time for a podcast live from the Love’s.

National Highway System

Above all this subject gets me going on the history of first the National Highway System and it’s successor the Interstates.

Trucking

In addition while I am not an expert on the history of trucking I’ll spend some time on this subject.

Independent Businesses

As well as discussing the whole subject of how the truck stops starting as independent refueling stations grew with the Interstates and the US from the 1960’s.

Logistics

Certainly it’s fair to say that over the road trucking coast to coast…

And the container system with railroads…

Has contributed greatly to America’s logistics systems.

Truck Stops

Of course the Truck Stops of all kinds have been a big part of that.

Nationwide

As a result Truck Stops like Love’s are nationwide.

Most importantly the truck stops also cater to travelers and nomads.

More Comfortable

That is to say fuel, great food, products we need and showers make life on the road a lot more comfortable and enjoyable than it was back in the day.

When The Interstates Were New

Likewise I am old enough to remember when the Interstates were still in construction.

Family Road Trips

Taking family road trips that often detoured onto two lane highways through the South and central US.

Passion For Travel

Moreover these trips fueled my passion for the travel experience.

Mom And Pop

Including the mom and pop truck stops of old.

Lamenting Change

Finally you often hear people lament the changes in this country.

Good Changes

But some of those changes have produced results that we will remember fondly someday when they too pass into the mists of time.

Truckers Travelers and Nomads

In short for Truckers, Nomads and Travelers Truck Stops are a necessity.

So here’s to Tom and Judy Love…

Built From A Small Business

And what they built from a small business back in the day.

When-Will-Dark-Times-End?-Bob Davis Podcast 981

When Will Dark Times End

When Will Dark Times End? Most importantly there seems to be a lot of grief to go around these days. A friend asked me to do a podcast about the subject, Find out why in When-Will-Dark-Times-End?-Bob Davis Podcast 981.

Loss

Certainly I am dealing with a loss in my own life.

Don’t Want To Talk About It

Even more I don’t like talking about it.

Many In Grieving

However my friend said lots of other people are in the same position these days.

Sharing To Help

Moreover, he said, my experiences and thoughts might help.

Don’t Want It To Be About Me

I don’t want this to be about me. But many people are dealing with grief in these dark times.

When Does Darkness End?

Therefore When-Will-Dark-Times-End?-Bob Davis Podcast 981 wonders when the dark time will end.

Any Loss Can Cause Grief

Firstly death isn’t the only cause of grief and bereavement. For instance many of us can be deeply effected by the loss of an animal, a breakup or the loss of a job.

Subtle And Long Lasting Effects

And the effects of grief can be subtle and long lasting.

Above all I don’t have any clinical experience in these matters. In fact I tend to be rather stoic in these situations.

Travel Helps

On the other hand I have traveled across the country most of this year and last.

Darkness All Over America

Consequently I can speak with authority on a general sense of what can only be called darkness that seems like it’s been with us forever.

Tough Times

To sum up it’s not inaccurate to suggest many are going through tough times.

Secondly the cure for me is travel. Just hearing the tires on the highway makes me happy.

Finally as my friend suggested, talking about it seems to help.

Spring Is Coming

Meanwhile the days are getting longer and spring is coming. Maybe the dark time will end soon for everyone.

Podcast 344

Foreign Policy In New Mexico. The negotiations with Iran are back at the top of the news. Taking a break from the road in The Mobile Podcast Command Unit 8, drinking coffee from the Flying J in Walter White’s Hometown. A quiet conversation about The President’s policy and negotiations with Iran, and what this president might leave the next. As the Iranians get just about everything they wanted, the Saudis, Jordanians, and Egypt talk about forming a joint command to address the Islamic State Threat. Again we find ourselves asking what the US Foreign Policy should be. Do any of the candidates on either side of the political spectrum have any ideas? Its seems as though they don’t. Meanwhile, while the media talks about domestic issues as the primary concerns of 2016, it’s very possible foreign issues could be the main focus, especially if things blow up before this President leaves office in January of 2017. And oh, a couple of side comments about road food, truck stops and travel. (Editor’s Note: This is the kind of stuff I sometimes like to talk about as soon as I wake up in the morning. I’m sitting in the RV Section at the Flying J in ABQ, drinking coffee and getting ready to roll on through New Mexico, onto Phoenix.Definitely having a blast!) And by the way, it’s spelled Albuquerque. And I did not see Walter White, Jessie Pinkman, or even Saul. Sponsored by Ryan Plumbing and Heating of Saint Paul
