Back Into The News. The News Cleanse is officially over, but there will be some changes on the podcasts due to lessons learned from it. What happened during the News Cleanse week? US Journalist James Foley got his head chopped off by Islamic militants (or, criminals, or thugs if you prefer). And, we’re surprised by this? And – gasp – that convoy of Russian military trucks painted white got into eastern Ukraine despite the red cross refusing to escort the convoy. Oh yeah, and the President played golf. After the guy got his head chopped off. At ease people. Go back to doing whatever you were doing. Nothing to see here folks. Meanwhile, the media keeps putting out noise. Fortunately Bob Davis is on it, to bring some clarity to these events, such as they are, and such as clarity is. An earthquake in Napa, California. The price of corn is down, which is bad for farmers, but good for steak eaters in the coming months. Fox Television is copying something from Bob Davis’ old radio show on KSTP. Bobovia will become a reality show called Utopia. You’re welcome, Fox. The Minneapolis Tribune is now taking its stories from the Bob Davis Podcasts, doing a big spread this weekend about gentrification in Uptown (where did they get that idea). You’re welcome, as well. And, oh yeah, the President played golf. And, a few more final observations about the cleanse. Sponsored by Baklund R & D.

News Cleanse Day Five. First Day of The Minnesota State Fair. Observations on the final day of the ‘News Cleanse’. Memories of the Minnesota State Fair. Broadcasting live, handing out bags, how the fair has changed over the years. Has an agricultural fair become a food fair, despite being the biggest attraction in the State of Minnesota the whole year? How Podcast 19 (The Lost State Fair Podcast) came about. What is it like to work out at the fair for ten hours a day, ten days straight? This is the last podcast of impressions from the News Cleanse. Back to the news for the next podcast. History is made slowly; we become aware of it only after many years of change. What kinds of changes are happening now, we’re unaware of? An age of disruption (as overused as that term is) is just beginning. All Americans are on this journey together, and all Americans will experience ‘history’ when the journey ends. The media ill serves us in this quest. What are the problems? How do we learn what works to solve those problems? How do we re-learn the citizenship process to help ourselves? Because no one is coming to help…and our ‘leaders’ aren’t creative enough, to solve them. Either informed, responsible citizens will decide the future, through the political process, or the mob will. Which do you prefer? Sponsored by X Government Cars.

News Cleanse Days 3 & 4. What happens when a news junkie quits cold turkey? No news. No Cable. No Talk Radio. No Newspapers, No Internet News. No Political Conversations. And by the way, the News Cleanse also includes TV Weathercasters. Continuing to get questions about whether I will talk about politics (yes) and ‘sociology’ (yes). “Is this forever?” (no). Late night, in the backyard of the bunker, as the neighbors sit around their bonfire, the last few planes on final approach at MSP, and lots of thoughts about the last two days without filling them up with news scanning, printing and reading. Without the anxiety and angst. Without the screaming and shouting. Spending time touring manufacturing companies, hanging with friends, and finding everyday Americans being quite creative. Which is better? Suburbia, exurbia, or the City. Saving money by shopping volume. How to blanch vegetables. A salmon recipe of sorts, discussion about Talk Radio, Media, and the future of media, including Podcasting. Getting some great email and questions about the News Cleanse, and seeing some great comments on the comments section at The Bob Davis Podcasts, and finding out many people listen to the podcasts right on the page. Suburban manufacturing warehouse availability and a tease on some new developments coming for the Bob Davis Podcasts. Sponsored by Autonomouscad.com
