Summer Without Air Conditioning-Reading More News-Midnight Walk Talk-Bob Davis Podcast 738

Some people turn off their air conditioning as some kind of statement. I just don’t like air conditioning and it doesn’t matter how hot it is. It’s perfectly still outside at midnight. Storms on the way. Time for a walk and talk podcast in Summer Without Air Conditioning-Reading More News-Midnight Walk Talk-Bob Davis Podcast 738.

Back To Reading

These days in my world I feel the need to start reading in depth again. During my talk radio days it wasn’t uncommon to read two to three hundred pages of information a day. Most noteworthy here is podcasting doesn’t require that level of prep. Unfortunately you lose the detail on key issues.

So it’s back to scanning, printing and reading. I feel like I am in summer school!

Two Big Stories

In Summer Without Air Conditioning-Reading More News-Midnight Walk Talk-Bob Davis Podcast 738 we’ll take a look at two big developing stories with an eye toward pointing out how story lines force us to anticipate outcomes rather than waiting until a story plays out.

Telling Us What’s Going To Happen Again

It has been a week since the president slapped tariffs on US trading partners. There has been no measurable economic effect to this date but that doesn’t stop commentators and reporters from telling us how Trump’s actions are already ‘having an economic effect’.

In addition the president’s comments on NATO are generating all kinds of talk. What’s going to happen? Why don’t we wait and see?

No Information Means Shouting Matches Not Conversations

Do you feel confident discussing trade and international defense agreements with strangers? Maybe it’s because you don’t have enough information.

Finally if we’re being fed a constant stream of speculation with no real information, is it any wonder our conversations about issues turn into shouting matches?

Join me on the walk and talk as the storms roll in and we’ll talk it out.

Below Zero Antidote-Summer Sounds Headphone Immersion-Podcast 693

Below Zero real temperatures are blanketing the North. While it is frigid, what if you could transport yourself back in time to summer? We do just that in Below Zero Antidote-Summer Sounds Headphone Immersion-Podcast 693.

Where and When is your summer?

Where and what is summer to you? A trip along the coast of northern California? A pool party? Or a walk down a gravel and dirt road at the lake, just before a summer storm? So, due to the bitter weather conditions in the upper midwest right now, almost everyone should enjoy a trip back to the warmth.

Summer Is A State Of Mind

For some people, summer is the sound of an AM radio drifting through the air on a hot day. A summer night in the 1980’s, or 1970’s. Summer is a state of mind. Where and when is for you to say. Almost all of us have a memory from summer. Especially relevant is the fact that your summer is one click away in Below Zero Antidote-Summer Sounds Headphone Immersion-Podcast 693.

High Quality Digital Sound Put Your Headphones On

No matter where I go or what I do I collect a lot of high quality digital sound. As the mercury dipped several degrees below zero this weekend I searched through my back up hard drives for something to remind me of warmer times. I decided to put together a summer sounds podcast. Headphones are best for listening to this one. Don’t worry, there isn’t much talk.

Sounds Collected From Across The Country During Summer

When I first started podcasting I did a summer sounds podcast. Since then with new tools, and more sound, I decided it was time for a new one. Since the first summer sounds podcast, there’s been a lot of summer travel. Much as I wanted to sit in my studio and listen, I realized from coast to coast and north to south I’ve collected a lot of sound. In conclusion, it seems like it would be best to share it with podcast listeners and subscribers. Furthermore, a lot of that sound is in this podcast.

From California To The Jersey Coast

We start in Mendocino County California on a warm night in September. A packed victorian hotel bar. From there, onto the California coast, and back to the midwest. Bugs. Wind. Storms. An outdoor soccer game in the heat. Most noteworthy, thunderstorms! The Lake. Of course, in conclusion, there will be fireworks.

Planning First Summer Road Trip-Storm Chasing-Podcast 632

Americans are allowing themselves to disregard most of the news they don’t agree with. Everything is ‘fake news’, unless it tells me what I want to hear. For those addicted, disengaging is nearly impossible. It’s important to realize in a concrete way, there is another world out there. There are many escapes. One of the best is travel. Time to prepare to head out in Planning First Summer Road Trip-Storm Chasing-Podcast 632.

Getting Ready

Planning the trip. The moment before the trip begins is almost as fun as the trip itself. Makes me recall getting ready for camping trips as a boy. Everything laid out on the floor for packing in the back pack. Calling friends and figuring out what everyone was bringing. What we would be cooking over the open fire.

Storm Chasing

This Memorial Day weekend I am Storm Chasing! Many things on this week’s check list. Getting Mobile Podcast Command checked out. Renewing my drivers license. Getting a haircut so I can do my You Tube videos. Loading in the sound board, microphones, the office stuff, and the food. Double and triple checking.

Into The Belly Of The Beast

Some of the underrated but fertile Tornado Chasing areas include Southeastern Iowa, Northeastern Kansas, Eastern Arkansas and Western Texas. Then the standard destinations for Storm Chasers. Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa. We will chase the storm chasers and get an idea of what this tribe is all about these days. In Planning First Summer Road Trip-Storm Chasing-Podcast 632.

Nature’s Summer Show

Storms are obviously bigger than all of us. Uncontrollable. Following these storms takes you through rural America. Two lane roads. Farm roads. Small towns across the Midwest and Mid South. Places made famous during the Bonnie and Clyde era. Places generally forgotten but magnificent in their own way.

It’s All About Anticipation

Join me planning the first three legs of this summer trip, with a hint of what is to come after. This isn’t a vacation. This is how the Bob Davis Podcasts works on the road. No talking heads. No one telling me what to think. Nothing but the open road, a clean windshield and fuel tanks full. (Editor’s Note: A few hours after posting this podcast I realized I referred to the movie ‘Twister‘ as ‘Tornado‘. What was I thinking? Maybe ‘Sharknado‘? LOL)
