Grand Canyon Southwest Masterpiece

Firstly the Grand Canyon is a Southwest Masterpiece. Learn more in my podcast from the Desert View Campground in Grand-Canyon-Southwest-Masterpeice-Bob Davis Podcast 996.

Blowing Through It

Secondly I think far too many people blow through the Canyon on a one day junket.

Certainly if you only have one day that’s one thing.

Vast Experience

However the Grand Canyon is a vast experience.

And if the traveler can take their time with it, all the better.

Got Lucky

Above all I got lucky. I rolled up to a full campground and managed to get a two day reservation.

Paradise

As a result I was able to spend two nights that felt like a week in paradise.

500 Feet From My Campfire

For example can you imagine having the south rim of the Grand Canyon less than five hundred feet from your campfire?

Moreover this national park just turned one hundred in 2019.

But it was closed in 2020. So I rolled into a campground that’s been closed for about a year.

Desert View Watchtower

During my stay on the south rim I fell in love with the Desert View Watchtower.

Sunsets

In the same vein the gathering of visitors and campers every night for the sunsets was a great experience.

Returning To A Sense Of Nature and Optimism

Most importantly I think we all need time like this to return to a sense of nature and optimism.

For example there’s something about the rock, desert flora and fauna and the trails.

Sense Of Freedom

Meanwhile we’re not feeling the sense of freedom the Grand Canyon evokes, these days.

But we want to.

We need to.

Night Time Walk Through Live…And Some UFO’s

Learn more in my night time walk through the campground in Grand-Canyon-Southwest-Masterpeice-Bob Davis Podcast 996.

Come Alive

Similarly when you’re staying at the park for any length of time you come alive.

Different Vibe

Certainly you realize this is a different feeling from the vibe at the mall, doctors office, and especially in traffic.

To sum up it’s a special place.

Finally thanks to great camp hosts, and everyone working very hard to get the place open and ready for summer.

I’ll go back!

New-Mexico-American-Tibet-Bob Davis Podcast 995

Is New Mexico The American Tibet?

Above all the states I’ve visited New Mexico feels like the American Tibet. Details in New-Mexico-American-Tibet-Bob Davis Podcast 995.

Not Really Tibet But…

Firstly I am not suggesting at all that a US State would actually BE Tibet.

Lots Of Travel

However I’ve traveled a lot.

Secondly I never spent too much time in The Land Of Enchantment.

The Land of Enchantment For Sure

Certainly now I have begun to understand why New Mexico owns that motto.

Mountains

For example the Manzano mountains. Not the first thing you’d think of when you consider New Mexico.

Sunsets

On the other hand driving through these mountains and sunset was a mind blowing experience,

History

In addition maybe it’s the history in the state going way back.

Unique Experiences

But if the middle part of the state isn’t your thing there are other unique experiences waiting.

Albuquerque

I mention it but then, there’s Breaking Bad. So…

Roswell and Taos

Of course Las Cruces, Roswell, Santa Fe, and Taos.

Heading North and West

To clarify I took 285 North out of Roswell. connected up with 60 West, then to 41 North.

Hey Wait! This Is Like…American Tibet!

After riding along these US and State Highways I started to come to the conclusion New Mexico has a sort of Tibet like quality.

Vistas

For instance wind swept vistas at any time of the day. And the most mysterious of all, White Sands.

National Forests

During this part of the trip I ended up in national forest campgrounds in the Cibola, all the way up to the northern part of the state in the Carson National Forest. Not to mention some of the best Bureau Of Land Management sites I’ve seen anywhere.

Amazing.

Travel’s Real Value

Finally I’ve certainly talked about the value of travel.

Wander Without A Schedule

And yes, sometimes it feels spiritual. Especially when you can wander without a schedule.

In the same vein it’s the wandering.

Forget The Gotta Haves Just Go

Moreover the wandering without worrying about getting somewhere or the ‘gotta haves’ in life.

Happy Accidents

In conclusion sometimes those happy accidents make all the difference in the world.

To sum up I have never been to Tibet.

Meditation

However the wind, mountains, sunsets and the solitary nature of my own personal travel plans brought the Land of Enchantment up a notch in my mind.

Vast Distances and Views

Most importantly remember New Mexico travelers are dealing with vast distances. In addition a long history.

Overall a very different experience.

Beating The Travel Blues In Arkansas

Firstly you would be forgiven for wondering why I would even need to beat the travel blues in Arkansas. Above all other places. But the travel blues can bite you in the ass without warning. Learn more in Beating-Travel-Blues-In-Arkansas-Bob Davis Podcast 993.

Goal Oriented

Secondly we live in a goal oriented culture.

Need Must Do Or Die

Want to becomes need to. Must do. Do or die.

Relentless

More importantly when I’m pursuing a goal I can be relentless.

Frustrated

Consequently I found myself in Arkansas the other day, frustrated and ticked off.

Preconceived Notions About The Day

To clarify I had this image in my head of just how the day was going to go. I would end up at the perfect campsite, right by the side of the road!

Arkansas

Certainly I had meticulously planned my transit through Arkansas.

Coffee Filters?

And then I ran out of coffee filters.

Haywire

As a result my day went haywire.

Off Intention…Off Course

In short I ended up on a highway I never intended to be on and wasn’t sure where I was going.

Change Your Attitude Brah

On the other hand it ended perfectly. Find out how in Beating-Travel-Blues-In-Arkansas-Bob Davis Podcast 993.

Ride Up Front With Me

Even more in this podcast you get to ride up front with me!

Lessons Learned

In the same vein there are many lessons I learn on the road.

Where’s The Fire?

For one thing I can forget I don’t have a tether and I don’t need to press on as though there’s no tomorrow.

How I Learn

Moreover this is how I can learn lessons that have applications to every day life.

Bliss Isn’t Always As Easy As It Looks

In addition though I talk about travel zen, reaching that state of bliss isn’t always as easy as I think it will be.

Ouachita National Forest

Finally I had to shift gears as I headed through the gorgeous Ouachita National Forest on my way to Dallas, Texas.

Short But Complex

In conclusion this is a short podcast about a complex issue.

Plans?

To sum up what happens when life doesn’t quite go the way we planned and expected?

We Don’t Need No Stinking Plans

In short sometimes the best things in life are the results of mistakes and miscalculations.

Now About Those Coffee Filters!

Or because someone runs out of coffee filters.
