Mercury Retrograde Incommunicado

Firstly welcome to Mercury Retrograde Incommunicado in the desert. When your device fails and you have no replacement. Details in Mercury-Retrograde-Incommunicado-Bob Davis Podcast 1085.

Planets Don’t Stop In Their Orbits

Secondly planets don’t stop in their orbits and go backwards. Or do they?

Skeptical But

It just looks that way from our perspective on Earth.

However I am skeptical of these things.

It Got Me

But I admit this Mercury Retrograde got me.

My Device Went Kaput

At least that’s my story and I am sticking to it!

Procrastination Kills

On the other hand I procrastinated getting a new device.

Physical Abuse Of Phone

And there’s the physical abuse of my device.

Incommunicado In The Desert

I think this might have contributed to being incommunicado in the desert.

Not Easy

Therefore getting me a new phone out here is not an easy.

When when everything goes my way.

New Phone New News Cycle

Of course once I got my new phone the first news I read was about my experience.

No More Than Five Hours Without Phone

Adults can’t go more than five hours without their device these days.

Withdraw

In the same vein I came face to face with the modern condition of device withdraw.

Do Something Else

Certainly there are other things one can do, right?

Alone Time and Silence

For instance spending time in silence and alone.

Or reading.

Doing something creative.

Oh Wait! No Hot Spot!

But out here in the desert everything I do uses the so called hot spot.

Resorting To A Screen

And what about experiencing other human beings without being able to resort to a screen when it gets boring?

The Days Before Phones

Above all I have observations about my nomad lifestyle back in the day.

For example I found it difficult not to be checking for news and stock market updates regularly.

Sync Hell

In addition I still have problems syncing old contacts and messaging.

To sum up I see why this is one of the top subjects for nomads around the fire.

Finally communications are important.

But I will have future observations about what this level of being connected does to all of us.

Meanwhile, I have YouTube to catch up on.

Happiness-Versus-Contentment-Bob Davis Podcast 1084

Happiness Versus Contentment in The Desert

The question of happiness versus contentment has certainly been on my mind lately. Learn more in Happiness-Versus-Contentment-Bob Davis Podcast 1084.

Barnstorm

Firstly my history for travel has been an almost frenetic barnstorm back and forth across the country.

High Fuel Prices

Secondly the specter of high diesel prices has me in a bind.

Restricted Travel

As a result I made a decision more than a year ago to restrict travel to the summer months.

Arizona Deserts

And to hang out in the Arizona desert in the meantime.

Enriched Life

As a result my life has been enriched by relationships and experiences I did not expect to have.

Not Easy

However adjusting to this temporarily stationary approach has not been easy for me.

Contentment By The Fire

Certainly the feeling of contentment is strong after a great meal by the campfire.

Coffee Anyone?

And a big cup of strong coffee helps too.

Does This Mean I Am Happy?

Therefore I wonder whether the feeling of contentment also means I am happy?

Good Question

It’s a good question.

Especially these days.

Urge To Hit The Road

On the other hand the urge to hit the road again calls me from deep inside.

Slow Decline Of Fuel Prices

Meanwhile I wait as fuel prices begin to decline.

Long Way To Go Yet

We’re not all the way there yet though.

Darkest Days

Above all they say this time of year features some of the darkest and depressing days.

In the same vein this shows up for me as frustration.

That is to say I am chomping at the bit to get started on the back roads again.

But sometimes the best thing to do is stick with a good plan.

Difficult Time

To sum up these are difficult days for everyone.

However I don’t see any reason to change the plan.

Or my approach to how I plan what I do.

Podcasts About Economic Conditions and The Nomad

Furthermore if readers, listeners and subscribers are interested I’ve done more than a few podcasts about economic drivers to the decisions I’ve made.

You can find them here and here.

Goodbye-2022-Hello-2023-Bob Davis Podcast 1083

Goodbye 2022 Hello 2023

Firstly Goodbye 2022 Hello 2023. Cue the fireworks for Goodbye-2022-Hello-2023-Bob Davis Podcast 1083.

Many Thanks

Secondly many people to thank for contributing and sponsoring.

Supporters and Mentors

In addition every year on New Year’s Eve I do a podcast and thank everyone who lent their support to help mentor me way back in 2009 when I started this podcast.

It’s Been A Year

Certainly this has been a year.

That is to say it was difficult.

Maybe It’s Been 2 Years

And it has been difficult going back to 2020!

Major Transition

Above all while I think we’re going through a major transition on many levels New Year’s Eve isn’t the best time to chronicle all that.

New Year’s Eve Is For Thank You’s

In fact New Year’s Eve is great for sending thank you’s.

Look Ahead

And a look ahead for 2023 travel and challenges.

Tough Times

To clarify the elephant in the room has been inflation.

For Nomads Too

Furthermore I’ve done more than a few podcasts about inflation and what it means for the nomad.

Economic Issues

Most importantly economic issues have made 2022 difficult.

Optimistic For 2023

I prefer to remain optimistic for 2023.

Challenges

In the same vein though I think there are economic challenges ahead that can be good and bad for different people around the world and the country

On the other hand this podcast will not be going into economic stuff too deeply.

Parties!

Because we have parties to get ready for!

Artistic Business Challenges

In short there are people to thank.

As well as some talk about running an artistic business.

Change Is An Ongoing Theme

To sum up 2022 has been tough. I’ve had to change how I travel.

Barnstorming

Certainly that means less barnstorming around the country.

Enriched

However my life has been enriched by relationships with other nomads formed because I was forced to stay in one place more than I would have liked.

Grateful

Finally there are things to be grateful for.

Maybe more so because of the kind of year we all had.

In conclusion change seems to have been a theme this year and is certainly on the horizon next year.

Happy New Year

Therefore Happy New Year.
