What-Kind-Of-Nomad-Are-You-Bob Davis Podcast 1036

What Kind Of Nomad Are You?

Firstly too much advice for nomads kills the vibe. Learn more In What-Kind-Of-Nomad-Are-You-Bob Davis Podcast 1036 it’s time to talk about the independent spirit of being a nomad.

Advice Spewing Nomads

Secondly we may as well talk about the sudden proliferation of advice spewing nomad ‘gurus’.

Disclaimer

Most importantly there is a disclaimer.

Above all recently I slowed my travel roll.

Community

And I’ve met many people in the so called nomad community.

So when I point out something I think kills the independent spirit I am not talking about specific people.

Tribal Chiefs

However It’s becoming obvious there are nomad ‘gurus’ out there becoming chiefs of traveling bands of wanderers.

What Kind Of Nomad Am I?

Therefore I ask myself what kind of nomad am I?

Freedom

Certainly I began this mission to get away from people telling me what to do and how to live.

Self Discovery

Even more this is a mission of self discovery.

No Advice Please

For example I am the kind of nomad that doesn’t want advice even if it hurts me!

Learning Through Experience

In the same vein I want to make mistakes because I learn through experience.

Do What We’re Told Now?

Moreover what kind of nomads are we if we buy what we’re told to buy.

Go where we’re told to go.

Live the way someone else tells us to?

Why Did You Hit The Road

To sum up isn’t this the reason many of us hit the road? To be free?

YouTube

Finally I hear so many people talking about what so and so said on YouTube.

Shh. Listen!

I wonder whether we’re still hearing that voice within.

A Long Line Of Explorers

That is to say we join a long line of explorers and travelers who started with nothing and learned everything along the way.

Self Discovery

Including learning to discover themselves.

Mistakes and Learning

To sum up making mistakes is part of learning.

Why Do You Wander?

Moreover most people wander for various heartfelt reasons.

Be Prepared

It might not be all about what kind of batteries you have or whether you use a down blanket or not.

Be prepared.

But be prepared to be wrong, to make mistakes and discover yourself.

Gratitude-Attitude-2022-Bob Davis Podcast 1035

Gratitude Attitude 2022

Above all we’re living through confusing times so having the Gratitude Attitude in 2022 is the right approach. I’ll tell you all about it in Gratitude-Attitude-2022-Bob Davis Podcast 1035.

Thanking Those Who Have Helped In 2021

Firstly I have a lot of people to thank for getting me and the podcast through a difficult year.

First Year As Nomad

Secondly if you want to hear more about my first year on the road permanently click here.

Second Year Of Nomad Experience Already Underway

But we’re now well into the second year of the nomad experience.

New Vibe

Already it’s a completely different vibe.

Constantly Moving In 2021

For example in my first year I traveled almost the entire year, stopping down only to deal with my mother’s death.

Slow Down

On the other hand I decided recently to slow down and get to know the places I’m interested in a little.

Discover Community

Consequently I have discovered the nomad community.

Quirky Quartzsite

In addition I’ve come to love the quirky place I have called home the last few weeks, Quartzsite Arizona.

And The People

Therefore as I look back over 2021 I see there are many people as well to be grateful for.

Clients and Contributors

Certainly clients and contributors to the podcasts.

Friends and Family

Likewise friends and family who have been very supportive throughout this process.

Some of 2021 Is A Blur

But some of 2021’s events are a blur to me.

Dreamy

To clarify there’s something dreamy about the nomad experience to begin with.

Process

Even more things like a death in the family take a little longer than a few days to process. Shockingly I don’t remember most of last winter due to dealing with my mom’s death.

Incredible Moments and Dreams

And yet there have been some incredible moments which also surprisingly feel like a dream.

Time Is Different For The Nomad

Finally my analysis is that the nomad does not experience time the same way as those back in the world.

Rome Bob, Rome

Certainly our concept of the New Year’s on January 1st goes back to Roman Times.

Lunar Calendars

Before that people operated on lunar calendars and told time with the stars.

Chinese New Year

As a result the so called Chinese New Year usually happens around February.

Farmers No More

Back in the day most of us were farmers.

Beginning Of Spring

Therefore the powers that be decided the New Year should also herald the beginning of the planting season.

Milestones

To sum up I am not one for marking these milestones.

Grateful

But I think it is good to recognize and be grateful for the good in life.

I am lucky to have so much of it mostly due to the people in my life.

Happy-Nomad-New-Year-Bob Davis Podcast 1034

Happy Nomad New Year

Firstly last year’s Happy Nomad New Year was down on the Arizona Mexico Border. I was alone. This year there will be lots of community and friendship. Learn more in Happy-Nomad-New-Year-Bob Davis Podcast 1034.

Long Time Friends

Secondly I am joined in this podcast by long time friend John Holland.

Considering The Nomad Life

These days there’s a lot of people considering the nomad life.

Certainly John is not alone in this interest.

New Year’s

So he rented a van, threw his gear in the back and headed out to the desert to join us for New Year’s.

Above all that’s a great opportunity for a podcast and we didn’t miss it.

Quartzsite Everybody

Therefore in Happy-Nomad-New-Year-Bob Davis Podcast 1034 we talk about John’s tour of Quartzsite Arizona.

2022 Desert Hang Out

During this podcast I realize I’ve been talking a lot recently about where I am hanging out right now.

Appreciate Where I Am

Most importantly as I reevaluate what I am doing and make plans for the second year of the nomad experience I certainly have come to appreciate where I am.

Partial To The Quirky

That is to say I am partial to what some might call quirky and dusty desert towns like this one.

Details

But we also share quite a lot of details about what first timers deal with on the road.

Fun

And have some fun in the process.

Nomad Mecca

Consequently it ended up being a fun audio tour of what has become the nomad mecca.

Serving The Nomads

Further we talk about many of the small businesses here that do such a great job serving nomads of all stripes and walks of life.

For example the Coyote Market and Road Runner markets and my personal favorite the MAGA Campground.

Yes there is a MAGA campground.

Desert Rats

Even more John and I believe we have discovered a tremendous business opportunity in ridding campers of the scourge of desert rats!

But you’ll have to listen to the end for that.

To sum up I probably won’t be in this spot forever but I am having a blast for the time being.

Grateful

And very grateful for the community, friendship and fun.
