Authentic Creativity and Nomad Travel

First of all authentic creativity and nomad travel go together. Secondly we’ll talk about it in depth in Authentic-Creativity-Nomad-Travel-Bob Davis Podcast 989.

Authenticity

Most importantly while people value authenticity, there isn’t much of it around.

Thought Processes of Creating

Certainly I consider thought processes as a part of creating content.

Lots of Content

On the other hand there’s a lot of content on various platforms.

Not Genuine

Even more much of this content doesn’t seem genuine, creative or authentic.

No Time To Think and Dream

To clarify I don’t think content creators have enough time to think and dream.

Too Busy To Create!

In short many creators are too ‘busy’ to create.

Enter the nomad lifestyle.

Above all there’s no tether for the nomad. There’s no ‘coming home’. Because the nomad is home where ever he is.

The Zen Of Nomad Life

Moreover I’ve learned there is a zen to this life.

More Time Somehow

In the same vein there’s more time think and to think about what you’re thinking about!

In Depth

At least that is how I have experienced it. And, I talk about it in depth in Authentic-Creativity-Nomad-Travel-Bob Davis Podcast 989.

Untethered

Finally there is something about the pace of ‘untethered‘ travel.

Whim Is Real

For example the ability to decide to go South or North, East or West depending on your whim.

Time Slows Down

In other words time does slow down. You are alone with your thoughts.

No Peace In Today’s Culture

To sum up sometimes it seems as though you can’t get a moment’s peace in our day to day culture.

Not Easy

For instance we’re always listening to watching something. Texting. Communicating. Stop and go traffic.

In addition it feels like most people are just irritated just about all the time.

Nothing Is Easy

Not A Care In The World

Likewise I have had some bad days traveling but for the most part it’s like I don’t have a care in the world.

Happy?

In short the other day someone asked me if I was happy.

“Happier than I have ever been”, I said.

Truck-Stop-Cooking-Talking-Bob Davis Podcast 987

Truck Stop Cooking Talking

Above all there’s nothing like Truck Stop Cooking and Talking. Reviewing the Spring Break Road Trip so far in Truck-Stop-Cooking-Talking-Bob Davis Podcast 987.

No Small Talk

Most importantly I don’t do small talk.

Taking Stock

First of all as I think about the trip and some of the experiences so far it’s a good time to take stock.

The Flying J

Secondly the setting is a rather worn Flying J in Georgia, just off I-95 near the Florida border.

Driving All Day

Certainly I’ve been driving all day.

The Other Florida

People think of Florida as palm trees and beaches. And it has those things.

But much of Florida and especially northern Florida is largely rural and agricultural.

Recent Interviews and Experiences

Therefore my thoughts turn to one of the interviews in a recent podcast.

Holding Space

During the podcast I interviewed the owner of a coffee shop in a small town.

Someone who seemed to be doing what I call ‘holding space‘ for the community and her own passion for the work.

Take The Detour

Moreover this was one time where I allowed myself to take the detour and spend some time in the community.

Small Is Beautiful

In the same vein the idea of ‘small is beautiful’ comes to mind, and I wanted to talk about it in Truck-Stop-Cooking-Talking-Bob Davis Podcast 987.

Growth Obsessed

For instance small business people these days are beset with admonishments to grow.

Over Motivated

Even more we small business owners can be over motivated and ‘amped up’.

Win

Striving for growth. To win.

Losing Themselves?

On the other hand what if all this motivation causes a business person to lose themselves?

Community and Clientele

What happens to the community and the clientele as a result?

The Great Experience

In short we’re all looking for that ‘great experience’.

Where Does The Great Experience Come From?

In conclusion I am beginning to think that singular experience comes from business people who are more concerned with ‘holding a space’ or ‘holding space’.

Exceptional

To clarify ‘small is beautiful’ doesn’t mean poverty. It might just be a better way to create something truly exceptional.

Even more it’s not for everyone.

Small Can Be Beautiful

To sum up if you’re feeling down because your business isn’t on it’s way to being traded on the Dow, just remember small can be beautiful and truly special.

And A Pan Fried Steak

And so is a steak perfectly pan fried in the corner of a truck stop in Georgia.

Road-Trip-Back-Roads-Only-Bob Davis Podcast 839

Whenever I feel like I am in a rut these days, a road trip is always the best medicine. Even more a road trip on the back roads. I’ll tell you all about it in Road-Trip-Back-Roads-Only-Bob Davis Podcast 839.

Mobile Podcast Command has been up and down both coasts. I’ve traveled in this old ambulance across the Midwest, out west, out east, around Florida and the gulf coast many times. Lately though I have become a back roads snob.

Especially relevant is my new mantra. Unless it is absolutely necessary, I prefer the old National Highway system, state roads, county roads or even rural routes. I feel this is where you really get a feel for what’s going on in this country.

Moreover big city people and especially big city media people seem to harbor a belief that there is something sinister and dangerous about rural America.

In Road-Trip-Back-Roads-Only-Bob Davis Podcast 839 I wonder whether some people can travel back roads, and see small town and rural America for what it is, without judgement. Because there is a lot to like about some of the places I have been.

It’s most noteworthy that the lessons you learn hitting America’s back roads seem to coalesce in your mind a few weeks after the trip is over. In addition, I have crisscrossed parts of this country so many times I’ll remember an experience I had, but forget just exactly where it happened.

What’s important in rural America? For one thing, small business and local business.

As I blog I am sitting in a shopping center parking lot about fifty miles south of Roanoke. I’ve rolled through Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and now Virginia.

Truth is some of those back roads are really back roads. Switchbacks through the mountains.

In conclusion, the best part of it all? You get to enjoy all this amazing scenery without being bothered. Usually you’re the only vehicle on the road.

It’s been that way most of this trip, and it’s well worth the effort.
