Stoked For The Road

I am as stoked as a kid can get at the beginning of a trip. These days you hear so much about ‘The Midwest’. Seems like none of the New York and Washington reporters ever go there. That’s the mission in Backroads-Adventure-Minnesota-Iowa-Bob Davis Podcast 877.

First Rule Of Roadtripping?

Already posted the actual plan for the trip so I don’t have to do that again. Except for one thing. First of rule of road tripping? A plan is only a plan. More than once I’ve had to make ‘audible’ calls.

US And State Roads Not Always Well Marked

It’s especially relevant for future road trippers to realize the people responsible for these things don’t mark US Highway and State Roads very well in urban areas.

Google Maps and Real Maps

Moreover I do not like google and apple maps. Yes, they’re efficient. However they take the romance out of navigating your way through cities like Des Moines in an effort to stay on course.

Going There Beats Seeing It On You Tube

First of all if you want to see the mythical ‘Midwest’ you have to actually go there. Second navigating the backroads allows the traveler to ‘angle’ up or down. On the Interstate the traveler is often shunted in hard angles.

Back Roads Save Fuel

Yeah it sure seems like you’re going fast. Truth is the traveler can save time and fuel by using our complex network of local and state roads, and the old national highway system.

You Have To Pay Attention

Furthermore it works pretty well. The problem is you have to really pay attention. More details on this subject in Backroads-Adventure-Minnesota-Iowa-Bob Davis Podcast 877.

Road Thoughts

Finally I don’t want to limit myself to simple travelogue podcasts. You’ll know where I am and what I am doing. It’s the thoughts that come to a person when they’re hitting the road at Thanksgiving that are more memorable.

Summer and Winter Road Tripping

Consequently you’ll hear all about the difference between winter and summer road tripping, driving during the night this time of year, and more.

How Independent Are We?

Even more, after driving through one of the most productive farm centers of the United States, and seeing the federally funded development in more than one small town, I wonder how independent we really are.

Burlington Iowa Development

Certainly I was thinking along these lines when I stopped in Burlington, Iowa on the Mississippi, just before heading into Illinois.

Indiana, Illinois and Ohio Next

In conclusion to hear the whole plan for the trip go here. Stand by for more podcasts on the road this holiday season from Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, next.

No-Small-Talk-Agorafest-2019-Bob Davis Podcast 863

No Small Talk

I’ve never been good at small talk. These days conversation is safe. Sports. Weather. Don’t discuss religion or politics at party. Above all there’s one group where the reverse is true. Learn more in No-Small-Talk-Agorafest-2019-Bob Davis Podcast 863.

Live In South Dakota

I am live in Mobile Podcast Command in Gary South Dakota at the Buffalo Ridge Resort. It’s especially relevant that I am hanging with my anarchist friends at a little festival they put together called ‘Agorafest‘. And Buffalo Ridge is a great place to have it.

Ongoing Conversations

In contrast to pointless weekend conversation I come to Agorafest for the discussions about everything from home brewing to the meaning of life. In this podcast subscribers and listeners will get a little taste of our style of conversation.

Let’s Face It. Anarchy is Fun!

For political listeners most noteworthy is the question what is an anarchist? Moreover what brand of anarchism is the primary focus this weekend?

Anderson, Johnson and Davis

First of all to give you an idea of our fireside chats Cole Anderson and Mark Johnson join the podcast.

Life Is Suffering. Or Not!

Above all Mark and I have been debating whether life is suffering all weekend. That debate continues in this podcast, with some asides about home brewing and politics. How’s that for small talk?

Agorafest Stays With You

Certainly you’ll hear anarchy isn’t as threatening as some people think. Indeed maybe you’ll hear something you’ll think about weeks from now. That’s usually the case with me.

History

Even more most of us feel we’re at a turning point in history. That deserves more than small talk.

Talk It Out As Friends

It’s great when people with very different ideas about how the world works to come together, hash it out and still be friends.

Community

Everyone probably agrees that affecting change in your own community is more satisfying. Therefore learning how to do that constructively is a byproduct of these weekends.

Cooking Dinner

Join me while I cook dinner and talk about the mega trip I just took. These days no one does anything alone, and I have a lot of people to thank in Parting Shots-Backroads-Roadtrip-Bob Davis Podcast 845.

Thanking Sponsors

First of all I have to thank the sponsors. Ryan Plumbing and Heating of Saint Paul and Reliafund Payment Processors.

Thanking Subscribers and Supporters

In addition many people donated cash to the Bob Davis Podcasts through the donate button, over there to your right under the pic of Mobile Podcast Command.

Critical Help

These contributions are most noteworthy because they meant a fill up at critical times. Especially relevant is how those contributions became critical, when I lost an alternator and had to pay for service calls. Learn more in Parting Shots-Backroads-Roadtrip-Bob Davis Podcast 845.

Travel Layers In Lessons

Moreover lessons learned from travel do not live on the surface of our minds. Perceptions of reality change because of overall experience. I do these travel podcasts, and travel this way, because we’re drowning in a sea of partisan persuasion. Someone needs to take the time to travel and experience America without judgement. I don’t think too many analysts or commentators are following this path. It’s time consuming, expensive and it is not a vacation. But so worth it.

Antidote To Motivated Reasoning

I have learned getting out there on the back roads goes a long way to break down motivated reasoning processes about what is actually happening out there.

New Shakedown

It’s been awhile since my mega trips of 2016 and 2017. Mobile Podcast Command needed another shakedown. All this in preparation for the mega trip of all time which will be to run the border between Brownsville, Texas and San Diego, California.

Shameless Pitches

To a certain extent this podcast is a shameless pitch for businesses to sponsor that trip. For the record, the travel podcasts I do have great demographics and interest. A great platform for advertisers. Direct Message me through this website if you’re interested.

Home

Truth is it’s nice to be home pan frying a steak in an iron skillet on my own stove.
