Vanlife-Nomad-Backlash-Bob Davis Podcast 980

VanLife Nomad Backlash

Suddenly there’s a Vanlife Nomad Backlash. Certainly it’s fun to be free and living out on the road. What’s the problem? My reaction in Vanlife-Nomad-Backlash-Bob Davis Podcast 980.

Full Commitment

Firstly I’ve just recently made a full commitment to living on the road. Learn more about that here.

Extended Travel

Secondly extended travel has been a part of these podcasts since the beginning.

Social Media…Again

However recently some have taken issue with some over the top social media accounts.

Hollywood Has Discovered The Modern Nomad

To clarify reporters and Hollywood have suddenly discovered the nomad trend.

Blame It On Instagram

As a result it seems like detractors want to attack the whole lifestyle as ‘fake’ because of a few over the top Instagram accounts.

Not For Everyone

Meanwhile my experience has been it’s not a lifestyle for everyone.

Demanding And Tough

In fact the nomad lifestyle can be demanding and tough but be very rewarding at the same time.

Nomad Life Is Hardscrabble

In the same vein I haven’t met too many nomads driving around in vehicles costing at least six figures.

The Majesty Of A Walmart Parking Lot

For example a nomad might experience the majesty of a campground in a national forest one week. And the majesty of a Walmart or Truck Stop lot the next.

Adventure and Fun

To sum up it’s not always glamorous. But it’s always an adventure.

Back Out On The Back Road

Most importantly while I am stuck in a driveway in Virginia as we deal with a death in the family I can’t wait to get back on the back road.

Real Experience

In Vanlife-Nomad-Backlash-Bob Davis Podcast 980 it’s time to talk about the real experiences I have had as a newly minted ‘nomad’. And most importantly the depth of those experiences.

Family and Friends

Even more I realize many nomads are interrupting trips with long stays with family and friends. Why? Because we can.

So What?

On the other hand. Who can blame us?

Shore Power and A Hot Shower

After months of taking showers in truck stops and cooking over campfires, shore power and a hot shower at ‘home’ are pure luxury.

All About The Vibe

Most importantly is the reality of a true positive vibe that comes from travel in any form.

Doesn’t Matter What Rig You Have

Whether you’re rig is a broken down conversion or a Prevost, you’ve experienced that vibe.

No Commitments

Finally, think about travel without commitments. And going where you want. Just plain fun.

Many People Hitting The Road

In conclusion it’s true there are many people hitting the road for various reasons. As a result the nomad lifestyle and Vanlife have become a trend.

Tear Down Something Just Because Lots Of People Are Doing It

Why is it necessary to attack and tear something down just because a lot of people are doing it?

Nomad-Uses-Downtime-Bob Davis Podcast 978

Firstly how a nomad uses downtime is key. Most importantly a family emergency has pulled me off the road for the short term. Learn how I plan to use the time in Nomad-Uses-Downtime-Bob Davis Podcast 978.

Secondly truth be told; I am already hearing the highway song.

On the other hand I am finding some valuable uses for this time.

Certainly I am never restless on the road.

And I was surprised to find myself sleeping more deeply no matter where I stopped for the night.

To clarify I’ll just say there is a beautiful simplicity to being a nomad. I am never bored and I welcome each day’s brand new challenge.

On the other hand now that I am ‘static’ the challenge is how not to go stir crazy.

Therefore Nomad-Uses-Downtime-Bob Davis Podcast 978 is about using this time to take care of my family. Even more to plan and prepare for when the adventure begins anew!

As the result of this experience I really believe now that travel raises our consciousness significantly. There are interesting ties to near death experiences I talk about in this podcast.

Consequently I have been able to produce yet another podcast that doesn’t ruin the great travel vibe with political chatter. Nothing makes me happier.

In short while these are difficult times the nomad in me remains optimistic and excited about returning to the back roads again.

In conclusion while nomads have enough trouble defending their lifestyle to relatives, there’s a powerful urge to plan, prepare, repair and revive.

My mom wouldn’t have it any other way.

Rolling-With-The-Changes-Bob Davis Podcast 977

Rolling With The Changes

Firstly there’s a lot of change and we’re rolling with the changes. Especially when there is a family emergency. Learn more in Rolling-With-The-Changes-Bob Davis Podcast 977.

Abrupt Change Happens In Everyone’s Life

Secondly abrupt and surprising developments visit everyone sooner or later.

Flexibility Is Called For

Most importantly you have to be flexible enough to deal with abrupt change, even when you’re nomad.

Not Easy

Certainly I was having a great time. From Minnesota to the Gulf Coast, across the desert to Southwestern Arizona.

Plans Shift and Things Change

Even more, I had plans to head further west to an big off road race in Johnson County, California.

Things Happen

But things happen, as they say.

Whatever It Takes

Above all when your family is in crisis you have to do whatever you can.

Nomad Travel Rewind

In my case that required me to rewind all my travels in just a few days.

Interstate Driving

Subsequently I drove East on the I-10 to I-17 North, to 40 East all the way from Arizona to Virginia, and then I-85 North to the Richmond area.

All A Blur

As a result there were a lot of truck stop stays which I don’t remember. In addition a number of sights that were a blur, like the Cadillac Ranch.

Marathon Trek

In fact I didn’t even think to record anything for this podcast in Mobile Podcast while making that marathon trek.

Massive Change

Finally the point here is that we’re going through massive change. Some will applaud the changes. Others will not.

Flexible Enough To Roll With The Changes

Likewise as I have pointed out in many recent podcasts, during periods of intense change and challenge, one has to be able to roll with the changes.

To sum up, flexibility is required.

Attached To Outcomes?

For example right now I am dealing with a number of strong and independent personalities, myself included. Being rigid and attached to a certain outcome doesn’t really help in this environment. I’ll explain in Rolling-With-The-Changes-Bob Davis Podcast 977.

Listen And Learn More

In conclusion clearly there’s something going on here. You’ll have to listen to find out.
