Seven States

First of all after hitting seven states in less than three weeks, it’s time for a break. Learn more about my latest mega trip in TruckStop-Washday-Four-States-24hours-Bob Davis Podcast 905.

Questions About Travel

These days I am asked a lot of questions about my travels.

Food and Laundry

Certainly the best questions are about simple stuff. What do you eat? Where do you do your laundry? Is Mobile Podcast Command an RV?

Truck Stops

Let’s start with two friends of the traveler. WalMart and Truck Stops.

Pilot!

When it comes to Truck Stops I have my favorites. Flying J, Pilots, Loves and T/A’s. Even more, some of the truck stops with names I can’t remember are great. Pilot is my favorite.

Wash Day At The Truck Stop

In TruckStop-Washday-Four-States-24hours-Bob Davis Podcast 905 we spend wash day at the Pilot south of San Antonio, Texas. The music’s classic rock, the People’s Court is on TV and there’s a full range of stuff to look at.

Travel In An America You Don’t See On TV

In addition in this podcast I make some observations about travel in an America saturated with political ‘news’ coverage.

Stressed Drivers and Travelers Need Calm

In contrast at most of the truck stops there’s no CNN, or Fox News or talk radio. There’s country, and classic rock, and a generally calm atmosphere for stressed truckers and travelers.

Back On The Road

Fill up. Get Something to eat. Take a shower. Do some laundry. Back on the road.

24 Hours of Driving and Back To Minnesota

Four states in one day in this podcast. From San Antonio to Dover, Oklahoma, and then onto Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, to finally end in Minnesota on an unusual sunny and warm day in February.

Unsung Heroes

Here’s to the unsung heroes on the road. The drivers, the people at the Pilot, the WalMart, the guy in Oklahoma who stopped to talk to me about my T-shirt.

No Academy Awards Here

Especially relevant is the fact that none of these people will probably ever win an academy award, run for congress, or even make a speech beyond funerals or their kids’ birthday parties.

On The Job

Above all though, they’re back on the job every day. All across this vast country.

Real America

Finally it was a great relief to see real America after two weeks of speechifying and media coverage of politics in Iowa.

Cooking Dinner

Join me while I cook dinner and talk about the mega trip I just took. These days no one does anything alone, and I have a lot of people to thank in Parting Shots-Backroads-Roadtrip-Bob Davis Podcast 845.

Thanking Sponsors

First of all I have to thank the sponsors. Ryan Plumbing and Heating of Saint Paul and Reliafund Payment Processors.

Thanking Subscribers and Supporters

In addition many people donated cash to the Bob Davis Podcasts through the donate button, over there to your right under the pic of Mobile Podcast Command.

Critical Help

These contributions are most noteworthy because they meant a fill up at critical times. Especially relevant is how those contributions became critical, when I lost an alternator and had to pay for service calls. Learn more in Parting Shots-Backroads-Roadtrip-Bob Davis Podcast 845.

Travel Layers In Lessons

Moreover lessons learned from travel do not live on the surface of our minds. Perceptions of reality change because of overall experience. I do these travel podcasts, and travel this way, because we’re drowning in a sea of partisan persuasion. Someone needs to take the time to travel and experience America without judgement. I don’t think too many analysts or commentators are following this path. It’s time consuming, expensive and it is not a vacation. But so worth it.

Antidote To Motivated Reasoning

I have learned getting out there on the back roads goes a long way to break down motivated reasoning processes about what is actually happening out there.

New Shakedown

It’s been awhile since my mega trips of 2016 and 2017. Mobile Podcast Command needed another shakedown. All this in preparation for the mega trip of all time which will be to run the border between Brownsville, Texas and San Diego, California.

Shameless Pitches

To a certain extent this podcast is a shameless pitch for businesses to sponsor that trip. For the record, the travel podcasts I do have great demographics and interest. A great platform for advertisers. Direct Message me through this website if you’re interested.

Home

Truth is it’s nice to be home pan frying a steak in an iron skillet on my own stove.

Podcast 568-BobDavisPodcastRadioShow-51

Podcast 568-BobDavisPodcastRadioShow-51. Setting the stage for the final two podcasts of Election 2016. Observations from the Fall 2016 mega trip. Fom Minneapolis to Seattle, down the PCH to Los Angeles, across the desert to Phoenix, across New Mexico to Roswell, up through the Texas Panhandle, through Oklahoma and Kansas back to the upper midwest. A circuit of the country that leaves an indelible impression on the eve of the 2016 election. In Podcast 568-BobDavisPodcastRadioShow-51, extemporaneous talk in four segments about the effects of travel. Seeing the country softens your judgements and opinions and strengthens the conclusion that the worldview we’re being fed in the media is not the real world. In reality people are going about their business, raising their families, living their lives. In reality America’s economy is a force of nature that does not react well to government attempts to stimulate or control it. In reality the roads and bridges are not crumbling. In reality people are not at each other’s throats. What is happening is a political realignment. Election 2016 may be the first indication of the coming realignment that may take a view cycles to work itself out. With so much focus on former ‘rust belt’ states and cities like Ohio and Michigan it is almost as if there’s a denial of the juggernaut that is the west coast, from Los Angeles to Seattle, or the industrial agriculture and energy producing states like Texas, Oklahoma, North and South Dakota. In the end, the election will be a state by state affair. In the end there could be surprises, or it may turn out to be a pretty conventional election compared to the last three or four cycles. While the media loads new story lines meant to control you, and push you into a decision, take a moment and allow this podcast to set the stage for what is about to happen. Or not.
