Above all this new attitude about hitting the road is the result of the success of that kind of sentiment.

Challenges

Certainly there are challenges.

But Rewarding

However it remains very rewarding for those who have the yen for travel and adventure.

Two Weeks Is Not The Nomad Experience

Moreover renting a van for a couple of weeks and writing about it isn’t what the experience is all about.

All Kinds Of People

For example I’ve met all kinds of people with a variety of reasons for choosing the nomad life.

Surface Observations

Most importantly surface observations are deceptive out here in the land of the nomad.

Inaccurate Assumptions

Even more they lead to incorrect assumptions about what’s really going on.

Rejecting American Dream Scares People

In the same vein I think there’s something about rejecting life back in the world that frightens some.

Yes It’s Hard

To clarify life as a nomad can be challenging.

There are setbacks and problems, just like in every walk of life.

Finally as I like to say, nobody said it would be easy.

To sum up I would say much of the so called #vanlife and #nomadlife backlash is because of its success.

Social Media

For example Instagram and other social media posts and content.

Distorted Picture

In short the success of this life on social media has presented a distorted picture of how great it is.

There Are Many Moments

But I have certainly had moments which are great.

Something Going On

In conclusion there’s something going on in America.

Search For A New American Dream

Certainly many are rejecting the so called American Dream.

Why is it a problem if they want to hit the road in search of a new dream?

First of all it’s time for a Springbreak Roadtrip and part 1 is Virginia through the Blueridge Mountains. Secondly long time listeners know I’ve been handling some personal business in Virginia for the last few weeks. Heavy Energy

Most importantly I find driving long distances is the best way to process heavy energy.

Sunshine And Warmth On The Agenda

Consequently I would have been happy with a trip to anywhere but I want sunshine and warmth.

Florida!

Therefore Florida it is.

Panama City Beach Life

When you consider Florida and spring break, certainly Panama City Beach and Pensacola come up. This part of the state is easy to get to on the Interstates.

Back Roads

Blue Ridge Switchbacks

So my plan takes me through Southwestern Virginia through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Tennessee. North Carolina. Alabama.

Mountain Roads

In short, mountain roads. Detours. Two lane state and US Highways. Truck Stops. Walmart Parking lots and maybe some camping.

Paths In Life

Above all this gives me a chance to share some thoughts about why we choose certain paths in life.

Choices

In addition the idea that sometimes the universe or higher power, or God checks back with you to make sure you’re confident of the choices you’ve made.

Are You Sure?

That is to say, are you sure?

Nomad Lifestyle

For instance in my life, my commitment to the Nomad Lifestyle and what that means.

Why?

In the same vein, why do some of us choose this approach to life? Why do others choose another way.

Meanwhile there’s the road and a steak dinner at a truck stop!

More Depth

Finally I love travelogue podcasts however I think listeners deserve a little more depth from these podcasts. That’s one of the reasons I travel, and want to get out on the back roads.

Chomping At The Bit

Firstly still stopped down in Virginia dealing with family matters. Secondly I am chomping at the bit to get going.

Travel Means Full Engagement

Certainly I’ve noticed that when I am on the road I am fully engaged. Up early.

Bored Sitting Still

Most importantly the longer I am stationary the more bored I get.

Up Late

Up late. Watching COPS on YouTube. Sleeping late.

Nomad Thing

Secondly it reminds me how fully committed I am to this ‘Nomad Thing’.

Short Trip Ahead

Meanwhile I plan a short trip to Florida in the coming weeks. Certainly just getting back on the road will make me feel better.

Back To The Pacific Soon

In the same vein I’m excited at the prospect of getting back to Quartzsite, Arizona to continue my wandering across California’s deserts and up the Pacific Coast.

Questions

But interesting questions have come up.

Why Does The Universe Throw Us Curve Balls?

Most importantly I’ve noticed when someone makes a decision to go ‘all in’ does the ‘universe’ throw curve balls every now and then just to test me?

Here’s a Nice House

For example I now have the opportunity to say here in a nice house if I want to. Essentially free.

Don’t Take The Easy Way Out

And people wonder, why wouldn’t you take a free house rather than driving around in that truck?

Choose Adventure

On the other hand I choose the adventure. Don’t want to take the easy way out.

What Does The Heart Want?

Finally I believe a firm choice in the direction my heart wants to go is the right choice.

Follow Your Passion

Moreover I think the ‘universe’ rewards those who follow their passion. Mine happens to be to move.

Buh Bye House

Therefore we’ll be selling the house.

Nomad Adventure in Three, Two…

In short it won’t be long before this great nomad adventure continues.
