Surviving Winter-Minnesota Winter-Tips-Bob Davis Podcast 775

Winter starts on December 22nd. In my neck of the woods it’s already cold and snowing. Time for some most noteworthy ideas about getting through the darkness in Surviving Winter-Minnesota Winter-Tips-Bob Davis Podcast 775.

From Deer Hunting to Ice Fishing

I am not a fan of the season. Some are. Deer Hunting. Ice Fishing. The usual. Minnesota winters are long. Lasting from November through to April. Oh yeah. March is the snowiest month, supposedly. These days it needs to be said. Winter in the Great Northwest is a psychological and physical challenge. Even for you folks in Alaska, half the time it’s colder in Minnesota than Fairbanks in the winter.

When The Going Gets Tough

Yes people from the northern tier of the United States pride themselves on ‘getting through’ the winter. How? Many leave. That’s right. When the going gets tough the tough head to the Caribbean, Mexico and other places that are warmer than Florida and Arizona in the winter. Learn more in Surviving Winter-Minnesota Winter-Tips-Bob Davis Podcast 775.

Get Hot

If you’re stuck here then you do the next best thing. Hot Yoga The hotter the better. During the dead of winter when there is no light, hanging out in rooms warmed up to 105 degrees with 40 percent humidity is as close as it gets to the beach. Of course there’s always the famous immersion into the summer sounds from The Bob Davis Podcasts.

Get Out

Others opt for winter vacations. Skiing. Usually in Colorado, Montana, Wyoming or Idaho. Especially relevant here is skiers from California often comment on how cold Idaho is in December and January. Truth is to Upper Midwesterners its considerably warmer and sunnier than home out west in the early winter months.

Hunker Down

Most of us just hunker down. If you can’t afford some exotic getaway then you’re stuck here.

Beached Whales

Eating is key. I’ll tell you about the best suggestions for what to eat to stay warm without ending up as a beached whale when the sun finally comes out. Moreover some ideas about how to avoid the pitfalls of feel-good social events which revolve around…food.

What To Wear

Above all what do we wear? Certainly coats, gloves and hats, but which ones? Not everyone can afford NorthFace. Even more I’ll tell you where to go to get the good stuff.

Driving

In conclusion there’s really only one more subject that is key. Driving. Almost as an afterthought I have to review to do’s and don’ts of winter driving. Especially in the early weeks of the cold and ice, otherwise tough Upper Midwesterners make some of the dumbest mistakes on the road.

Podcast 608-Political Talk Gets Harder Every Day For Me

Can We Have The Room?

Time to clear the air. It’s getting harder to talk politics every day. On the heels of a presidential address to a joint session of congress things seemed to calm down. Then President Trump tweeted from his rooms at Mar A Lago. Trump alleges President Obama spied on him at Trump Tower. Suddenly it’s the end of the world. We’ll talk about it in Podcast 608-Political Talk Gets Harder Every Day For Me

During the election Republicans told everyone they would repeal Obama Care. Now suddenly ‘conservatives’ like Charles Krauthammer are telling people attempts by some republicans to repeal an entitlement are bad because “you can’t repeal an entitlement“. Isn’t that why people voted for republicans? In Podcast 608-Political Talk Gets Harder Every Day For Me.

Parallel Universe

We live side by side. Speak the same language. Shop the same stores. However, we live in different countries. Use completely different information sources. Believe completely different histories. Listen. Read. Watch only things we agree with. Tumult. Confusion. Frustration. We’re told what will happen not given news. News is a recitation of facts about things which have happened. Not a recitation of predictions about what’s going to happen.

Proof In The Pudding

People getting their jobs back at the factory? Economic growth at 4 percent? Respect for the United States across the world? Draining the Swamp? Making America Great. Again? Time will tell. In Podcast 608-Political Talk Gets Harder Every Day For Me.

Digging In

Wanna talk politics? Dig in. Help your audience dig in. Pick your poison. Dictator. Fascist. Racist. Or, Great Man. Elected by a landslide. Keeper of a mandate. A revolution. That’s not politics. Not discussion of policy with an open mind. This is riding on a train. North. South. East. West. Pick a track.

Cowards

I don’t like any of them. They’re all cowards. Doesn’t matter if there’s an R or a D in front of their name. Say one thing. Do another. Demand the media defend them. Demand the people defend them. Pass more laws impossible to understand or debate. Engage in one intrigue after another. Another investigation. Trial. Debate. Protest. Outrage. Rinse and repeat. In Podcast 608-Political Talk Gets Harder Every Day For Me.

Advancing The Story

Hard out here for a Podcaster. Best thing. One on one talks. Challenge. Try to make sense out of it all. Grow our thinking. Enjoyed our one on one. Ok you guys. You can have the room back.

Podcast 347

Summertime in Scottsdale. At least that it was feels like if you’re from the upper midwest, for Arizonans this is just the beginning of the heat, but it sure feels good to a boy from the Midwest, after winter. The second of two podcasts for your Wednesday from the Shore Powered Mobile Podcast Command Unit 8. From time to time its a good idea to just sit down in the studio and wing it. Sometimes a lot of effort goes into doing podcasts that are news, or topic oriented. March was a taxing month for The Bob Davis Podcasts, as we cold hardly wait to get our hot little hands on the brand new remote broadcast truck. Response has been great and as capabilities are brought up to speed, the podcasts are going to become more and more fun. In this podcast, a behind the scenes look at the struggle to get Unit 8 up and running through the month and get on the road, before having to return before April 25th, when Bob Davis is scheduled to speak to the SD48 Republicans at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. We may roll up the night before, fresh from Cali, and camp out at the theater, preparing for the big speech. Actually a lot of good discussion in this podcast about work ethic, how we learn to work, and how we work. And a lesson in patience for Bob Davis. And, an opportunity for sponsorships of the Remote Podcast Command Unit 8. Sponsored by Ryan Plumbing of Saint Paul.
