The Bob Davis Podcasts Radio Show 24. I’ve been doing a syndicated radio show for about 6 months. It is distributed through GCNLIVE.com. The Bob Davis Podcasts Radio Show 24 airs in Minneapolis on AM1280 The Patriot at 4PM on Saturdays. As we get new affiliates I will announce them. People often ask me, “How do I hear the radio show”, so I thought I would post it as a podcast so you can hear what it sounds like. Another reason for posting it here as, syndicated radio shows are audio processed before they air on satellite, so they can be aired from the satellite by radio stations. As a result of all the audio processing the final product on the radio sometimes is not as good technically as the original. The great thing about podcasts – especially the Bob Davis Podcasts – is our attention to detail and specifically detail when it comes to audio processing and quality. I am posting the show here because I want people to be able to listen to it as it actually sounds, before all the processing for the satellite, and on the radio. It’ll give you a little idea of why I am such an evangelist for audio delivered on demand over the Internet. For listeners of the Bob Davis Podcasts, the weekly show condenses some of the content from the podcasts into a weekly radio show format. There is additional content not heard in the podcasts, especially the first segment and comments leading into each of the segments. This week I devoted a little time to the recent announcement by Senator Ted Cruz of Carly Fiorina’s new status as his ‘running mate’. Is this a good move? In this show we cover issues related to the ‘Just Getting By Economy’, a condensed version of my summary of the presidential preference primaries coming up, and some of the discussion this week on all the TV Binge viewing we all seem to do, which received a lot of great reaction. A Jeb Bush Event. Live from Sumter, South Carolina The Bob Davis Podcasts joins the Bush campaign for a Jeb Bush Event featuring Senator Lindsay Graham and Governor Bush. Originally planned for a local diner, the campaign had to move the event to the University of South Carolina, which was a shame since the potato soup at Baker’s Sweets in Sumter is amazing. Another feature of this podcast is to set the record straight regarding Jason Lewis’ appearance in Bob Davis Podcast 404, in which he stated he generally supported the President’s Iran deal with caveats. Lewis’ campaign for Congress in Minnesota’s Second District is apparently scaring his opponents so much, they’re excerpting liner notes about his foreign policy views, rather than actually listening to what he said in the podcast. There will be a new editorial note on podcast 404 which everyone can read, clarifying what Jason said. What is amazing about the current controversy surrounding Jason’s view that the country cannot have limited government at home and big government abroad is that when you’re on the campaign trail you hear republican candidates walking right up to the line advocating another war, and apparently Republicans love it. Maybe the 2nd District’s Republican candidate for congress is correct to question this impulse among all the GOP candidates? (You’ll hear it in this podcast too.) How can talk show hosts and commentators compare the current crop of bellicose campaigners with Ronald Reagan who negotiated, and kept the United States out of major military commitments and war for 8 years. Thus, a local congressional district issue dovetails beautifully with what a candidate says on the hustings in South Carolina. In any case, the Reagan era is over and is not coming back. The challenges of our current time are multi-polar, not bi-polar. Even the economic challenges are different. All these challenges will require new and different solutions that can only come from people who are able to consider opinions that might be unorthodox. Coffee by The Fire. It’s finally starting to feel like October in the upper midwest with temperatures dropping, leaves falling and scudding grey clouds. The days are shorter, the nights longer, and that means its time for a podcast, with coffee, by the fire in the Broadcast Bunker. In podcast time, this is being posted on a Friday. The last week or so has been a rush of technical issues, crazy political stories, parties, lunches, client calls, late night discussions about everything under the sun, and reading a lot of news. Sometimes it’s good to just sit down in front of the microphone and do a podcast. All the ‘podcast manuals’ say you’re supposed to ‘know what you’re going to talk about’. Years of experience in talk radio taught me that sometimes the best thing to do is walk into the studio with no notes, no paper, and nothing in mind. In this podcast I talk a little about my current love-hate relationship with politics and media, media coverage of politics, review the technology issues I have been having lately, present a on-the-spot theory about social disruptions caused by operating system updates pushed out to your computer (Editor’s note: Say no, unless you know all the implications of updating your computer’s operating system.) Anyone ever say to you, “People are acting weird today”? Maybe its because there’s a rolling effect from all the updates blowing out people’s phone apps, peripherals and generally messing with us. What will happen when someday driverless cars, autonomous machines, androids, robot manufacturing and remote controlled bulldozers update and just stop? Hiring people to monitor all that stuff and keep systems operating might – gasp – actually create jobs! Finally, a discussion of the joys of being in business for yourself and how weird it is for a ‘creative’ type to be enthralled with the business side of his business.
