Inflation For Nomads

You might think inflation for nomads is something we don’t think about. However we nomads might be in the best position to deal with inflation. Learn more in Inflation-For-Nomads-Bob Davis Podcast 1024.

Hitting The Road

Firstly I have been hitting the road for extended periods of time since 2014.

Life On That Road Forever

Secondly about a year ago I decided to chuck it all and hit the road permanently.

Will Higher Prices Kill The Vibe?

However as oil and food prices rise some people wonder how long any of us nomads will be able to continue.

Surprise

But it might be surprising to learn I think nomads are in the best position to deal with rising prices.

Disclaimers

Certainly I have some disclaimers in this podcast.

No Politics

That is to say this podcast isn’t about politics.

For example I am not going to tell everyone what ‘the government’ should do to deal with this problem.

System Of Thinking

On the other hand I have been employing a system of thinking about these things that has yielded some observations that can help anyone concerned about rising prices.

What Might Be Going On

Even more I conducted an organized observation of grocery stores and truck stops from coast to coast in the last few months and I learned a few things about what’s going on with consumers.

For Nomads

Finally for nomads the real question is where the most significant price increases are coming from and how long they can last.

Changing Up The Vibe

In short the ‘go where my intuition sends me’ vibe is the first casualty.

What’s The Mission

Moving further along that line of reasoning the only task left for me is the mission for the second full year of nomad life.

Slowing Down

And slowing down the velocity of travel.

Careful Planning

Above all careful planning and controlling expenses suggests nomads can get through this insanity and prevail.

Pollyanna

In conclusion there’s something about then nomad experience that allows us to forget the rest of the world.

For a time.

Reality Breaks In

Every now and then reality breaks through the bliss.

Most importantly this doesn’t have to be a death sentence for the mission or the experience.

Only The Disciplined Can Be Truly Free

In short what is required is a disciplined way of thinking and operating to stay on the road and in the flow.

Amazing

Secondly it was an amazing trip.

Game Changer In Sioux Falls

Most importantly I had a game changing business meeting in South Dakota that solved my connectivity problems in one fell swoop. In addition I’ll be telling you more about this fix in future podcasts.

Oregon Coast To Washington State

But it was a great trip up the Oregon Coast, to Washington’s Mount Rainier then across the Yakima Valley.

Idaho to Montana

Even more Idaho and Montana take the cake.

Grasslands

And the grasslands of North Dakota!

South Dakota In 100 Degree Heat

Finally the trip across South Dakota in one hundred degree heat was one for the books.

One Day to Minnesota and Wisconsin

Further still a quick one day trip across Minnesota to Wisconsin for Father’s Day 2021.

Fading Restrictions and Burgeoning Optimism Across America

Above all a trip across the northern tier of the United States at a time when Covid restrictions are beginning to face for the time being, and people seem more optimistic.

Record Visitors At The Parks

Certainly the national parks have record visitors and are packed while the National Forests and Bureau of Land Management campgrounds are deserted.

Lassen Mount Shasta and More

Moreover I was able to enjoy Lassen National Park and Mount Shasta before quite an adventure in the Rogue River Siskiyou National Forest in Oregon.

Logging roads, coast line, rain forests, arid valleys and more.

Back Roads Forever

To clarify I am struck by how much running across the country this way on back roads is similar to binge watching a series on HBO or Netflix at the height of the pandemic last year.

Travel Velocity

Certainly I wonder if I am one of the few nomads moving across the country at various levels of travel velocity, covering so much ground all on the back roads.

How Far and How Fast

To sum up I wonder how the rest of the my nomad friends listening and reading this blog travel. How far and how fast.

Running Fast Can Be Fun

In short I’ll say it again. I don’t like to travel this fast. It’s exhausting. But it can be fun as well.

In the same vein I hope listeners and subscribers enjoy some of the stories and experiences from this mega trip.

Plans Change

In addition I’ve changed my plans a bit, I think, for the rest of the summer.

Florida and Outer Banks

First of all, just returned from my trip to Florida and along the Outer Banks.

Podcast Avoidance

In addition I avoided doing a podcast for at least week.

Coming To The End Of Family Work

Most importantly we were coming to the end of our work here in Richmond related to family.

No More From The Driveway Podcasts

Secondly it did not feel right to me, doing another spate of podcasts from my mom’s driveway in Richmond.

Back On The Road

Consequently I made the decision to get back on the road.

Questions About Nomad Life

Meanwhile time for a podcast with some of the questions people keep asking me about my decision to go nomad

Future Travel

And some plans for future travels.

Normies With Questions

For example people wonder why I don’t “live somewhere” and travel for a few weeks and “come home”.

We’re Worried About You

Moreover I’ve been told people are “worried” about me.

Getting The Nomad Thing Explained

Finally it’s clear the so called normal world just doesn’t get the nomad thing.

No Half Million Dollar RV For Me

Certainly I did not sell a big house and buy a half million dollar RV. Nothing even close.

Actually Having Fun

However people I’ve met actually having fun are driving aged trucks in various states of disrepair.

Flight Of Fancy

Lots of flights of fancy in Nomad-Relaunch-Go-West-Bob Davis Podcast 990 to clarify some of these ideas.

Pure Freedom Through Forever Travel

In the same vein there’s really nothing that compares to the feeling of pure freedom which is part of travel without having to come home, because you are home.

Are We Really Free?

In short I wonder whether we are truly free in this country.

Burdens

Burdened with debt.

Uncomfortable

Forced to work in situations we don’t feel comfortable in.

Restrictions

Restricted in one way or another these days.

We Can Drive If We Want To

In conclusion for the time being the one thing we can do is drive. See the country when, where and how we want.

I can’t wait to head back out.
