Montana-Yellowstone-Idaho-Bob Davis Podcast 1145

Montana Yellowstone Idaho

Firstly I’m on another big trip from Wisconsin through to Montana, Yellowstone and Idaho. Ultimately I’ll be pulling into Quartzsite, Arizona earlier than planned. But this is a great route south. Details in Montana-Yellowstone-Idaho-Bob Davis Podcast 1145.

Custer National Battlefield Monument

Secondly my Montana visit was punctuated with a visit to the Custer National Battlefield Monument. For details on that experience check out my YouTube channel here.

Soul Happy

Above all when I am traveling my soul is happy.

Juices Flowing

That is to say when the wheels are turning the creative juices are flowing.

Much To See

Also there are always amazing things to see.

Observations

Another key point is my observations on what I have experienced on the trip so far.

Old Story From Yellowstone

Certainly a ‘pass-through’ this year was a lot different from a old story about pushing a VW Bug through the park in the middle of the night.

This experience differed markedly from the VW experience so many years go.

What’s With The Bison?

For one thing people these days seem to be mad to get through the park so they can get pictures of Bison.

I’ve witnessed behavior in the same fashion at the Grand Canyon.

Jewels

As much as it is important to celebrate the fact that we Americans have these wilderness jewels to marvel over…

On the negative side I’m not sure people are actually experiencing these parks.

Selfies

They are too busy taking selfies.

Camping Booked

On the other hand I am glad the park was too busy for camping.

Pass Through

Because a pass through was just what the doctor ordered at this point in the trip.

Land Of Sky Blue Waters

Because I camped all summer as I like to say on the shores of a lake in the ‘Land of Sky Blue Waters’…

After that I am not so keen to camp.

Truck Stops

All in all truck stops are my go to these days.

Recording In Flying J’s Lot

Basically it’s pretty hard to miss in this podcast since I recorded in a Flying J Parking Lot.

Oil Cheaper

Overall oil is getting cheaper…

Winter Travel

Therefore the winter looks promising for more travel and adventure.

By all means getting down to Quartzite is my priority…

115 Degrees

But when I last checked the weather it was 115 degrees in the desert out there.

By all means the subject for my next podcast.

Updates-Loose-Ends-Clarifications-Bob Davis Podcast 1069

Updates Loose Ends and Clarifications

Firstly from time to time I do updates clarifications and tie up loose ends. Find out why in Updates-Loose-Ends-Clarifications-Bob Davis Podcast 1069.

Dream World

Secondly nomad life is a dream world.

Sailing On The Sea

That is to say this life is more like sailing between islands.

Doesn’t Matter What Day It Is

Certainly when you’re out on the water you don’t care what day it is.

Series

Because I have been doing podcasts on the inflation and economic issues facing nomads since the beginning of 2022 they have become kind of a series.

Fighting Complex Topics

And every now and then I find myself struggling with the complexities and left brain nature of finance and economics.

Dreamy Nomad Life

Even more due to the dreamy nature of nomad life.

The Great Basin

So I am up in the mountains above The Great Basin.

Food and Fuel Prices

Considering the intensity of food and fuel prices this is a perfect time and place to make some corrections updates and clarifications about these issues from podcast 1068.

Taking A Pause

However as usual it is also time to take a pause.

Sounds Of The Night

Listen to the night sounds.

Sundown In The Mountains

Enjoy the sundown and late evening dusk here at Great Basin National Park.

Talk About Prices

But it’s also a perfect time to clarify why I believe prices will continue to go down.

Slow Down Coming

Moreover why I think we’re headed for a major economic slow down in the near future.

Complex

Finally I will warn listeners the second half of this podcast might feel little complex.

No Political Rhetoric

On the other hand you usually don’t find these explanations free of political rhetoric in most places.

Cheaper Food and Fuel

Above all my goal is to give hope to fellow nomads rooting for cheaper food and fuel.

Simplify

In addition my goal is to try and simplify a bit of the talk about the economy.

Information You Can Use

Therefore we’ll have some information we can use.

What To Look For

In the same vein at least we will know what to look for in coming weeks to confirm some of my conclusions in Updates-Loose-Ends-Clarifications-Bob Davis Podcast 1069.

Last Economic Podcast For Awhile

To sum up this will be the last so called economic podcast I’ll do for awhile.

Full Travel Vibe…Next

So we’ll be back to the full travel vibe until we hit another turning point.

Celebrating-One-Year-As-Nomad-Bob Davis Podcast 1025

Celebrating One Year As A Nomad

Above all finding the right time and place to celebrate one year as a nomad is a challenge. Sooner or later you just have to record. Therefore listen to the celebration from Scottsdale, Arizona in Celebrating-One-Year-As-Nomad-Bob Davis Podcast 1025.

All A Blur

Firstly it’s all a blur to me.

Never Regretted It

Secondly I have never regretted selling, donating or throwing away everything I owned to hit the road.

Overall Mission

Even more lately I have been working on an overall mission statement for the second year of nomad travel.

Enlightenment

However a friend told me recently she thought I was searching for enlightenment.

Halloween 2020

Maybe seeking enlightenment will do for this first year of nomad travel, starting on Halloween Night 2020.

Felt Trapped Back Home

In Celebrating-One-Year-As-Nomad-Bob Davis Podcast 1025 I talk about feeling trapped back home.

Suburban Lifestyle

And feeling there was nothing keeping me in the suburban lifestyle.

Learned A Lot

Certainly I have learned a lot this first year of solid nomad travel.

For example frustrations and problems are unavoidable.

But you learn to deal with them as they come up.

On The Road

In addition in the beginning I was on the road a lot.

Hit all the lower 48.

Death In The Family

During the New Year’s I dealt with a death in the family.

Start All Over Again

After that it seemed like I had to start all over again.

How Nomads Are Changed By Travel

In short all the podcasts since Halloween 2020 have dealt with the internal processes and experiences of nomad travel.

No Politics

In the same vein I am proud that none of these podcasts have focused on political issues.

Nothing But Travel

Moreover nothing but travel.

No Advice On Your Rig

On the other hand I don’t tell you how to get to the Grand Canyon or how to empty your black water tanks.

No Wrenching Or Builds

To clarify I don’t do RV wrenching and won’t talk about my ‘build’.

But what almost no one talks about is how this kind of lifestyle effects people on a day to day basis.

And I think there’s a place for that kind of talk about the nomad lifestyle.

Small Towns

Finally I have to say the one big takeaway is how much I have fallen in love with the everyday small towns in this country.

The People

The people you meet on the back roads.

The Towns

For instance towns like Ely Nevada or Lubbock Texas.

Search For America

In short if you’re searching for America and you decide to do it as a nomad I think you’ll learn a few things.

Fact is the United States is a vibrant and complex economy and an incredible people.

On the other hand the America we see through our small screens and social media seems like our worst effort.

Can’t Get Enough

To sum up whether I’m in a truck stop or magnificent national forest I can’t get enough of the road.
