Mount Rainier to Sioux Falls in 4 Days

Firstly I don’t like to travel this fast but I just rolled from Mount Rainier to Sioux Falls in 4days. Learn more in Mount-Rainier-Sioux-Falls-4Days-Bob Davis Podcast 1002.

Amazing

Secondly it was an amazing trip.

Game Changer In Sioux Falls

Most importantly I had a game changing business meeting in South Dakota that solved my connectivity problems in one fell swoop. In addition I’ll be telling you more about this fix in future podcasts.

Oregon Coast To Washington State

But it was a great trip up the Oregon Coast, to Washington’s Mount Rainier then across the Yakima Valley.

Idaho to Montana

Even more Idaho and Montana take the cake.

Grasslands

And the grasslands of North Dakota!

South Dakota In 100 Degree Heat

Finally the trip across South Dakota in one hundred degree heat was one for the books.

One Day to Minnesota and Wisconsin

Further still a quick one day trip across Minnesota to Wisconsin for Father’s Day 2021.

Fading Restrictions and Burgeoning Optimism Across America

Above all a trip across the northern tier of the United States at a time when Covid restrictions are beginning to face for the time being, and people seem more optimistic.

Record Visitors At The Parks

Certainly the national parks have record visitors and are packed while the National Forests and Bureau of Land Management campgrounds are deserted.

Lassen Mount Shasta and More

Moreover I was able to enjoy Lassen National Park and Mount Shasta before quite an adventure in the Rogue River Siskiyou National Forest in Oregon.

Logging roads, coast line, rain forests, arid valleys and more.

Back Roads Forever

To clarify I am struck by how much running across the country this way on back roads is similar to binge watching a series on HBO or Netflix at the height of the pandemic last year.

Travel Velocity

Certainly I wonder if I am one of the few nomads moving across the country at various levels of travel velocity, covering so much ground all on the back roads.

How Far and How Fast

To sum up I wonder how the rest of the my nomad friends listening and reading this blog travel. How far and how fast.

Running Fast Can Be Fun

In short I’ll say it again. I don’t like to travel this fast. It’s exhausting. But it can be fun as well.

In the same vein I hope listeners and subscribers enjoy some of the stories and experiences from this mega trip.

Plans Change

In addition I’ve changed my plans a bit, I think, for the rest of the summer.

Toss Up House Elections 2018 Part 2-Bob Davis Podcast 754

Second in a series of podcasts detailing the so called toss up races in the 2018 midterm elections. Most noteworthy here are my observations about whether many of these elections are actually toss ups. Find out why I say this in Toss Up House Elections 2018 Part 2-Bob Davis Podcast 754.

Trump’s Future Hangs In The Balance

From Iowa, to Illinois. Kansas to Kentucky in this podcast you’ll find out why the media says the future of Donald Trump’s administration hangs in the balance. You’ll also find out whether the predicted ‘blue wave’ could be reality. Or not.

Details Without Partisanship

As I have said many times, one of the things our media loves to do these days is predict the future, The reason I am producing this series of podcasts is to give you the existing conditions in each of these districts without partisan comment or predictions. This series includes the Senate toss ups, and the Governor’s toss ups and part one of the house toss ups.

How Close Are They?

How close is the race in Illinois’ northwestern suburbs that make up the 6th district? What about all the predictions about 12th district which stretches from the working class Saint Louis suburbs across the river, all the way to the southern tip of the Land of Lincoln? Especially relevant here are predictions about Kentucky’s 6th district, which the president won by 17 points. When a candidate for president wins a state by over twenty points, is there a potential for backlash? Learn more in Toss Up House Elections 2018 Part 2-Bob Davis Podcast 754.

Telling The Voter What’s Going To Happen Before The Vote

These days it doesn’t matter whether you’re on network television or You Tube. If you have a national talk radio show or are a podcaster. Everyone wants to tell the voter what’s going to happen before it happens. If you listen to this series of my podcasts you’ll know the situation in these districts. You’ll know what races to watch on election night.

What IS The Situation?

Once the voters decides for themselves who their voting for on election night, they can sit back and watch the results knowing what races to look for. Why? Because someone looked at all the key races and without partisanship or rancor laid out what the situation is.

Fortune Tellers

Finally, many of these districts have no polling unless its done by partisan groups or political parties. Predictions are being made based on the 2016 election or because one party or another said they were ‘targeting’ that race. In conclusion our politics are too fluid for political fortune tellers to be accurate.

Late Summer-Early Fall-State Fair Throwback-Bob Davis Podcast 748

Every year where I live when the leaves start changing, it’s State Fair Time. Moreover for Minnesotans this is the passage from summer to fall. Time for some thoughts about the Minnesota State Fair and a throwback to audio from a fair many years ago in Late Summer-Early Fall-State Fair Throwback-Bob Davis Podcast 748.

Our State Fair Is A Great State Fair

These days our State Fair is still a great State Fair but it has become more a community celebration than a farm convention. The Minnesota State Fair wasn’t always a food fest.

My First State Fair

Sure the Midway is still there with it’s carneys and rides but the tone of the fair is different. My first state fair was a far different fair than 2018’s.

Recording At The Fair

Especially relevant is an audio project I embarked on with three friends back in the day. We spent ten days interviewing and recording raw sound on tape. The result is a piece of audio that now feels like a faded photograph from the 80’s.

Back In The Day At The Race Track

Remember when the fair still had a race track? Machinery Hill in all its glory? Finally, in those days there were lots of breakfast nooks where fair goers and fair workers convened at 7 in the morning. Who remembers the ‘Epiphany Diner‘?

To be sure change is the one constant in life. Minnesota State Fairgoers for the first time to the fiftieth still love the fair, in spite of and because of the changes.

Himalaya Throw Back

In conclusion join me for some thoughts about the current fair, and a trip back in time to a fair long ago in a galaxy far far away. Hard to believe but, back in the day people talked different. They rode the Himalaya, checked out the bearded lady and the race track. And we have it on tape.
