Future-Dreams-After-Covid-Bob Davis Podcast 979

Future Dreams After Covid

Firstly it’s time to talk about our future dreams after Covid. We’ll do that in Future-Dreams-After-Covid-Bob Davis Podcast 979.

Live From The Driveway

Secondly I am podcasting live from my mom’s driveway in Virginia for the time being. Learn why by listening here.

Dark Time

Most importantly we’re living through a dark time. I don’t think anyone disagrees with that statement.

Brittle and Emotional

In addition the way we talk to each other is often brittle and emotional.

Collaboration and Rationality

On the other hand we’ll need to communicate in a more collaborative and rational style in the future.

Social Media Sucks

Certainly social media emphasizes stark differences.

Remember When Optimism Drove Us?

On the other hand after the Spanish Flu, optimism and enthusiasm drove the country.

Positive About The Future

Finally I’ve had a lot of support from friends and business contacts recently. As a result I feel more positive about the future.

Tech Stepped Up

Moreover technology really helped us during the Corona Pandemic.

How Has Work Evolved

In conclusion we need to ask how, where and when our work has evolved positively.

Networking and Working For A Nomad

For example remote work for my tribe of nomads. In addition small towns are seeing growth as people move from large population centers. Why? Because they can.

Tired Of Negativity

To sum up I am tired of down in the mouth, nasty, brittle and angry.

No More Fighting Over The Past

In short fighting over the past does nothing for me.

All About The Future

It’s all about the future now. I think we need new ways of communicating and thinking to create a future that works.

In contrast I don’t think the old ways of thinking and communicating serve anyone anymore.

Covid Refugees Head Up North

For people in the upper Midwest summer means ‘Up North’. Especially relevant to Rural-America-Urban-Covid-Refugees-Bob Davis Podcast 934 even city people might find Up North a little crowded these days.

Not Just An Old Cabin In The Woods Anymore

Even more cabins in the woods these days are becoming sophisticated enough to qualify as second or even first homes.

Designated Meet Up When It All Goes Down

Firstly for most extended families ‘The Cabin’ or ‘Up North’ is the designated meet up if things go south.

Relatives Who Bugged Out

Therefore Father’s Day weekend seemed like a perfect time to get together with my son who bugged out from New York City.

Pandemic Panic Brought Them From Big Urban Centers

Secondly since then other family members from New York, Chicago and Los Angeles have jumped on the refugee bandwagon.

We’ve Been Here For Generations

On the other hand we have a lot of relatives who’ve lived ‘Up North’ for generations.

How Are The Rural People Getting Along With The Urban Denizens

Consequently I wondered how everyone is getting along.

Chicken, Steak and Conversation

Time to grill out and have some conversation.

Getting Along

You might think fur would fly between the locals and the refugees but it turned out great.

Millennial Approach To Collaboration

Moreover one of the things I was impressed with is how the millennial generation handles working together across cultural lines. We’ll talk about it as we get the ‘Up North Experience’ in Rural-America-Urban-Covid-Refugees-Bob Davis Podcast 934. This a standard topic on the podcasts these days.

Plenty Of Room For Everyone

Certainly there are funny stories and things to talk about. However as my nephew put it, there’s plenty of room here for everyone.

Not Done With ‘The Covid’, Though

Finally I think it’s fair to say we’re not done with Covid.

Second Wave?

For example spikes are reported already in areas that have opened up. Of course there’s also the official ‘second wave‘ predictions to think about.  Not to mention unrest in the cities.

No Urban Or Rural Emphasis

In conclusion I am impressed with our ability to pivot to working from home and anywhere, and doing it successfully or even better. Maybe the future doesn’t have an urban or rural emphasis.

Ending Personal Finance Delusions-Road To Recovery-Todd Rooker-Podcast 719

These days there’s a great deal of positive talk about ‘the economy’. Moreover, the focus is on government and big companies. Not a lot of realistic talk about our ‘personal economy’. We’ll talk about it in Ending Personal Finance Delusions-Road To Recovery-Todd Rooker-Podcast 719.

Unvarnished Observations Of Someone Who Knows

In Ending Personal Finance Delusions-Road To Recovery-Todd Rooker-Podcast 719 we hear the unvarnished observations of an experienced corporate and personal financial advisor.

Forget Wall Street. How Is Our Personal Economy?

What are the pitfalls for small business owners? How are families and individuals doing when it comes to personal finance? How is our personal economy these days?

Living The Dream. I Mean Delusion

When it comes to day to day financial management, it’s especially relevant to learn it’s pretty easy to live in a delusion, apparently. That goes for personal finance and business finance. Especially small businesses. This is just one of the key takeaways from our talk about why small businesses fail.

Spartan Lifestyle

To be sure financial advisors love to talk about retirement and living your dreams and passions. Thing is, living the dream requires a spartan lifestyle. When you’re living high on the hog, spartan is not something you want to do. So, business owners sometimes find it easier to avoid accounting for all expenses.

Todd Rooker’s observations are important for younger adults and small businesses. One of the most useful is a detailed explanation of how to account for all spending. I was surprised to learn some of the most knowledgeable and self aware see only what they want to see, when it comes to expenses. Delusions. There’s that word again!

Psychology 101. Our Own Worst Enemy

Human psychology determines what we’ll admit when we start totaling up the monthly budgets. Effective planning means short circuiting our own biases.

Following Our Passion

People want to follow their passion. How do you do that? Why doesn’t it always work out? Lots of great suggestions in Ending Personal Finance Delusions-Road To Recovery-Todd Rooker-Podcast 719 along these lines.

Day To Day

Truth is, most people are living day to day. Businesses started to serve a passion can fail. The root cause may be a surprise. Most noteworthy, is the idea it may be all about accounting for all the details and potential pitfalls when you first start out.

How do we plan and prevail?

Surviving and prospering is what it’s all about!
