There-Is-Something-Going-On-Bob Davis Podcast 954

Have You Ever Felt Like There Is Something Going On?

Firstly have you ever felt like there is something going on? Something you can’t quite put a finger on. More importantly a feeling welling up from deep inside. That’s what There-Is-Something-Going-On-Bob Davis Podcast 954 is all about.

Feelings Rule In This Podcast

Second I know this is weird. Therefore this is not a ‘fact-based’ podcast. This is about feelings and trusting your feelings or intuition.

Wanting To Go!

Most importantly many people seem to have this instinctive urge to ‘get away’. To ‘Go’. So this podcast is for them.

Everyone Wants to Go To Ground

In addition real estate in rural and exurban areas is hot right now. Lots of houses in the city up for sale. RV’s sales and prices are through the roof.

All At Once

Seems like everyone wants to hit the road, move to the country. All at once.

Is There Something Going On?

Certainly this begs the question. Is this some kind of animal instinct. Like going to ground before an earthquake?

What Do We Do With Our Instincts?

Moreover do we listen to our instincts or rationalize them away? And, what happens when we do that?

Not Everyone Can Be A Nomad Or Buy A Farm

Meanwhile life goes on. Not everyone can become a nomad or buy a farm.

The Rational And The Sensitive

Finally some do not feel the urge at all.

Doesn’t Mean There Isn’t Something Going On

On the other hand if some feel it and some don’t one doesn’t invalidate the other.

Feel The Feels

In the same vein I’ll just say I feel this urge strongly.

Trouble Ahead

Even more, my instincts tell me there’s more trouble ahead and this might be what some people are reacting to.

Mayhem And Madness…Seem Normal Now

In the same vein, fill in the blank with whatever mayhem you think we might have to face.

2020 Is A Very Strange Year

Given what we have already dealt with in 2020, I don’t think anyone can say, “That’s not going to happen”, with any degree of confidence!

Strange Brew

In conclusion, I don’t know what I’ll do with these feelings.

Speak My Truth And Move On

Finally I do know that I can’t move on with my regular podcast schedule without getting this off my chest. That is what I do in There-Is-Something-Going-On-Bob Davis Podcast 954.

Riots-A-Slippery-Slope-Bob Davis Podcast 951

Riots Are A Slippery Slope

First of all protests and riots have everyone talking though they are a slippery slope. Cooking dinner and sitting on the deck seems to be a great venue to talk about it. Learn more in Riots-A-Slippery-Slope-Bob Davis Podcast 951.

Civil War Talk Just As Dangerous

Second I don’t like using the term ‘civil war’ in the same context, but some very foolish people are.

Real Talk

In the same vein it’s time for some real talk about what’s going on and what it might mean.

Recent Content Rich Podcasts

Moreover I’ve done some pretty content rich podcasts lately about political realignment and presidential polls. It’s also time for a more relaxed conversation about serious subjects.

I Never Know

On the other hand when I do more relaxed podcasts I never know what I’m going to talk about.

Buzzing On Social Media

Specifically what kicked off this talk are people buzzing about ‘civil war’ on social media.

Dangerous Talk

Most importantly I think this is very dangerous talk, even for so called analysts and commentators. We’ll get into it in Riots-A-Slippery-Slope-Bob Davis Podcast 951.

How The Draft Riots Ended

In addition I use an example from history about the New York City Draft Riots, as depicted in the movie The Gangs Of New York.

It Wasn’t Pretty

To clarify the book, “The Gangs Of New York” was written by Herbert Asbury. A part of the book focuses on the Federal Government’s response to complete anarchy in New York City during these riots, at the height of the Civil War. It wasn’t pretty.

A Lot Of Silly Talk

Above all we don’t need a lot of silly inflammatory talk right now. No matter where it comes from.

Yeah It Could Get A Lot Worse

Finally many of us find ourselves thinking about how tough things are right now. Certainly we can all agree that an actual civil war would make things a lot worse. Like, you can’t imagine how much worse.

Cavalcade Of Idiots

Can we please stop using that term to describe street violence and cavalcade of idiots on both sides responding to it.

Delusional America

In conclusion I have certainly talked about a delusional America. The fact that we’re on the cusp of a change in epoch. I don’t think any of us can say with any degree of confidence where we’ll be in five years.

Meanwhile life goes on.

Rural-America-Urban-Covid-Refugees-Bob Davis Podcast 934

Covid Refugees Head Up North

For people in the upper Midwest summer means ‘Up North’. Especially relevant to Rural-America-Urban-Covid-Refugees-Bob Davis Podcast 934 even city people might find Up North a little crowded these days.

Not Just An Old Cabin In The Woods Anymore

Even more cabins in the woods these days are becoming sophisticated enough to qualify as second or even first homes.

Designated Meet Up When It All Goes Down

Firstly for most extended families ‘The Cabin’ or ‘Up North’ is the designated meet up if things go south.

Relatives Who Bugged Out

Therefore Father’s Day weekend seemed like a perfect time to get together with my son who bugged out from New York City.

Pandemic Panic Brought Them From Big Urban Centers

Secondly since then other family members from New York, Chicago and Los Angeles have jumped on the refugee bandwagon.

We’ve Been Here For Generations

On the other hand we have a lot of relatives who’ve lived ‘Up North’ for generations.

How Are The Rural People Getting Along With The Urban Denizens

Consequently I wondered how everyone is getting along.

Chicken, Steak and Conversation

Time to grill out and have some conversation.

Getting Along

You might think fur would fly between the locals and the refugees but it turned out great.

Millennial Approach To Collaboration

Moreover one of the things I was impressed with is how the millennial generation handles working together across cultural lines. We’ll talk about it as we get the ‘Up North Experience’ in Rural-America-Urban-Covid-Refugees-Bob Davis Podcast 934. This a standard topic on the podcasts these days.

Plenty Of Room For Everyone

Certainly there are funny stories and things to talk about. However as my nephew put it, there’s plenty of room here for everyone.

Not Done With ‘The Covid’, Though

Finally I think it’s fair to say we’re not done with Covid.

Second Wave?

For example spikes are reported already in areas that have opened up. Of course there’s also the official ‘second wave‘ predictions to think about.  Not to mention unrest in the cities.

No Urban Or Rural Emphasis

In conclusion I am impressed with our ability to pivot to working from home and anywhere, and doing it successfully or even better. Maybe the future doesn’t have an urban or rural emphasis.
