Summer-Sounds-2023-Bob Davis Podcast 1088

Summer Sounds 2023

Firstly it’s the peak of winter over North America and therefore time for a Summer Sounds Podcast. Put your headphones on for Summer-Sounds-2023-Bob Davis Podcast 1088.

Recording Summer Sounds For Years

Secondly since around 2015 I have been recording summer sounds.

Spring Is Around The Corner

And then when spring seems right around the corner.

But Winter Is Still Here

But winter proves resilient.

Time For Summer Sounds

It’s time for a Summer Sounds Podcast.

Immersed In Summer

Above all listening to these summer sounds podcasts immerse the listener in summer.

Colorado

Whether it is a beautiful Mountain Town in Colorado.

Ten Thousand Feet Up

Or the delicious sound of the wind on a ten thousand foot mountain peak.

Lakeside

Certainly the sounds lakeside.

Bugs

The bug and birds.

Truck Stops and Lawn Mowers

Finally a truck stop in the southwest somewhere, a lawn mower and a drum circle.

Monsoon

Of course there’s a full on summer monsoon storm in Utah and the sound of the crackling campfire.

No Talk

Furthermore after the introduction there’s no talk until we say goodbye near the end of this podcast.

Winter Can Be Just Too Much

To sum up when we get this close to warmer weather it seems like winter can be just too much.

Loam Of Summer’s Eve Beckons

Even more the loam of a summer evening is immersive and peaceful in the midst of a difficult time.

Love Producing Summer Sounds

I enjoy producing these podcasts as much as I hope you enjoy listening to them.

A Life Outside

In addition now that I travel full time I am outside all the time and all through the seasons.

Grateful For The Back Roads

Above all I am grateful I’ve had the opportunity to experience the mountain peaks, small towns, national parks and back roads of the United States these past years.

Wild Things

In the same vein there’s a lot of wild things to see and hear.

Great To Share

And it’s great to be able to share with subscribers and listeners.

Original Content

In conclusion it gets more difficult every podcast to do something original.

Certainly when you’ve done over a thousand podcasts.

And when the standard talk topics we hear out there don’t fit in this venue anymore.

Passion For Travel

On the other hand I know we all share the passion for travel and the desire to hit the road.

Even if it’s just every now and then.

Especially during the glorious summer months.

Headphones On

In short grab a beverage, put on your headphones and turn it up.

Prepare to be transported to the peak of summer.

Even if it’s just forty minutes.

Pipeline-Fire-Flagstaff-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1058

Pipeline Fire In Flagstaff Arizona

Above all I am about 3 miles from the Pipeline Fire in Flagstaff Arizona. However my experiences South of here inform what happened here. Learn more in Pipeline-Fire-Flagstaff-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1058.

Coconino National Forest

Firstly I was camping in the Coconino National Forest about 20 miles South of Flagstaff.

Blatant Disregard

Secondly what I saw there was blatant disregard of the no fire rule by campers.

Freedom?

Of course we all want freedom.

Rules

Certainly nobody likes rules.

Don’t Be An Idiot

But freedom doesn’t mean being an idiot.

Negligence Caused Pipeline Fire

For example a local was arrested leaving the scene of the fire in Flagstaff. He had ignored the burn ban and started the fire.

Park Ranger View

I had a great conversation with a park ranger in the same vein.

Too Many People

To clarify there are too many visitors and according to the ranger they don’t listen.

And she said the rangers would rather tell people what they can do.

Due to the number of visitors in paid sites the National Forest shunts people to dispersed camping sites North of Sedona and South of Flagstaff.

Dispersed Camping Is Primitive

As a result there are no vault toilets or trash facilities.

Modern Americans Don’t Do Primitive

Apparently modern Americans don’t know what to do with that.

Let’s Have A Campfire!

Furthermore if they want a campfire then they light one.

Stories To Tell

In Pipeline-Fire-Flagstaff-Arizona-Bob Davis Podcast 1058 I’ll tell some stories about some of the things that went on in that dispersed campground this weekend.

Forest Service

Moreover things that provoked a visit in force from the Forest Service.

These Are Spaces To Appreciate

To sum up it’s amazing to me that people don’t fully appreciate how lucky we are to have these spaces to experience.

Not Destroy

Even more a forest fire is incredibly destructive during and after the burn.

Sad

And it’s sad when the fire starts because someone just wants to do what they want to do.

In conclusion I don’t get into the debate about how they manage these forests. Truth is there is a generational drought in the west.

A sign that says no fires means no fire.

Sad that has to be said.

Post-Eclipse-Take-A-Breath-Bob Davis Podcast 1055

Post Eclipse TakeĀ  A Breath Bob Davis

Firstly eclipses put out a lot of energy so post eclipse it’s good to take a breath. We’ll do that in Post-Eclipse-Take-A-Breath-Bob Davis Podcast 1055.

Front And Center Witness

Secondly as a nomad I have been front and center to witness three big eclipses.

Scope And Power Of An Eclipse

Above all very few natural events compare in their scope and power with a eclipse.

Tex-Mex!

For example as for this eclipse we had a big Tex-Mex Nomad dinner.

Coffee and Conversation

We drank gallons of coffee and talked for four hours.

Energy Dropped After

Finally after it was all over all of us dropped.

More Sleep Please

Even more two or three days later we’re still grabbing more sleep.

That’s how it is.

New Friends

Most importantly I am again reminded about getting to know new friends.

Community

Certainly the community aspect of slower travel is one of its major benefits.

Barnstormer…But

That is to say I am a barnstormer.

I think nothing of travel from west coast to east.

High Price Of Fuel

However the high price of fuel currently has us all stopped down in the desert.

Million Dollar View

Meanwhile I have a million dollar view here at the Imperial Dam Long Term Visitor Area. Right on the border of California and Arizona.

Learning

Therefore I am learning more about other nomads and campgrounds.

Planning

In the same vein this was part of my plan anyway.

In short when I blaze trails without stopping I don’t get the feel of an area or its people.

Yuma And Other Towns

When I stop after that I learn about Yuma, Arizona. Or some other southwestern towns.

And I love it.

Total Lunar Eclipse

To sum up all of this was accentuated by a beautiful total lunar eclipse on the evening of May15th 2022.

Count My Blessings

In addition it is an opportunity to count my blessings at this location.

Future Plans

And look ahead to plans for the rest of the summer.

In conclusion will I continue my nomad journey?

Above all I am watching economic developments like a hawk. For a synopsis podcast click here.

But I don’t think I’ve even started on my nomad journey!
