Happiness Is A Clean Windshield and A Full Tank Of Gas

There is a sense of peace that only comes from seeing the highway through the windshield. Seeing The Real America

The media is full of locators. This happened in California. That happened in Florida. Atlanta. Chicago. LA. New York City. York PA. The news gives us a sense of the United States as either exclusively urban or hopelessly rural. Travel on the highways and backroads reminds us how vast and actually empty our country is.

Family Stories

One of the missions of this road trip is to visit the hometown of my grandparents and great grandparents, great uncles and aunts and cousins. Most of my life I’ve been hearing apocalyptic stories of coal mining in southern Ohio. I don’t know about your family get togethers but mine are punctuated by confirmations of some of those stories, and guffaws. “Grandpa made that up!” is a common refrain. Doing a long road trip? You’re mind will wander. Thoughts will come in and go out just as quickly. Months later you’ll be doing something and a thought and experience will come to mind. Podcast 564-Trying Not To Talk Politics. Live from the Desert in Scottsdale, Arizona in Podcast 564-Trying Not To Talk Politics. After two intense political podcasts, time for an easy talker to start your week out. The real challenge of what I call an ‘easy talker’ is not to talk about the easy stuff, which or me is usually political. This time though, I got into some great content about travel. I feel a motivation to travel and have an increasing desire to cut the tether completely and roll. For good. What would I need to make that happen? About midway through the trip across the Great Northwest, now into the Great Southwest, a sense of well being and relaxation has set in. It’s great to visit friends and family all over the country living their lives, caught up with various pursuit. No matter what you see in the media about the tone of the country life goes on. There’s something reassuring about that reality. Coming through Eastern Los Angeles, into the California desert was a great contrast to a week of rain and wind on the coast. Joshua Tree National Forest is highly recommended. The desert itself is hypnotizing and I have the feeling the most dramatic part of the trip is ahead as we head east on two lane roads through Arizona to New Mexico and then Texas. From the plains of North Dakota to the mountains of Montana, Utah and Washington State, on over to the pacific coastal highways, down through the redwoods to LA, and now headed east in the desert I want to live in so many places! I have always loved road trips and you would think I would get them out of my system, but after a few days in Arizona, I feel like I am starting out the trip all over again. Podcast 411 – New Audio Book – The Chieftain 2021

Introducing The Chieftain 2021. I’ve been promoting a change for the Bob Davis Podcasts for a few weeks. The Bob Davis Podcast IT Specialist Mitch Rossow joins Podcast 411 to introduce a brand new fiction story, and a brand new page to serve fiction by Bob Davis. The Chieftain 2021 is a story about an American family embroiled in a national political upheaval in the not to distant future. I’m taking a few risks with this story. So what else is new? This podcast tells you how to help us beta test the audio book delivery system from the Bob Davis Podcast from the Pay Pal process to getting the podcast onto your PC, Mac or smart phone. The first ‘episode’ of the Chieftain 2021 is posted because subsequent episodes have not been written. Oh, they are outlined but I will be writing them in real time, with input from people who have bought and listened to the story. I have come to the conclusion that you can say more, do more, and have more fun writing fiction than dealing with the so called ‘reality’ in the day to day news. The people and situations in this story are fiction, and any resemblance to real people alive or dead is coincidence. Some of the places though, are real.
