I’ll-Have-A-Casa Grande-Bob Davis Podcast 1018

I’ll Have A Casa Grande With Caramel Please

Above all it’s great to visit friends which is why I say I’ll have a Casa Grande! I’m in Casa Grande Arizona for this podcast with my friend Don Anger. Join us for some freewheeling conversation in I’ll-Have-A-Casa Grande-Bob Davis Podcast 1018.

Don Anger Joins The Bob Davis Podcast

Firstly I met Don in radio years ago. Now I am on the road and he is in the oil industry. We’ve done a few podcasts together.

Oil Patch Meets Nomad

Secondly Don shuttles back and forth between the oil patch in Midland Texas, and his home in Casa Grande Arizona.

Because I always said I’d visit him in Casa Grande, here we are.

We certainly do like doing podcasts together every now and then and as long as Don’s wife Stacy allows the microphones and other equipment on the back porch, we’re good.

Why Is There An Ambulance In My Driveway?

Even more hopefully she won’t ask why there is an ambulance in her driveway, but that’s another story.

Topical and Fun

Meanwhile when we do podcasts we’re often topical.

Current Events

So there’s some discussion of current events in I’ll-Have-A-Casa Grande-Bob Davis Podcast 1018.

Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito

For instance as I post this the whole country is talking about a missing young woman who has unfortunately been found deceased.

Person Of Interest

Even more her fiance is a person of interest in the case of the death of Gabby Petito.

Celebrities From Casa Grande?

Meanwhile we talk about the celebrities from Casa Grande.

Dealey Plaza

In addition Don recently made the pilgrimage to Dallas to tour Dealey Plaza, the site of the JFK assassination in 1963, so we’ll get into that issue as well.

#Vanlife Murders

Finally on a recent podcast I interviewed a young author who’s written #Vanlife Murders.

Current Van Life Story

Most importantly I am sure Taylor Cluster never expected the current Van Life story to be taking the country by storm. Her interview on the Bob Davis Podcasts is here.

Van Life and Williston

Even more Don started in the oil industry in Williston North Dakota. He feels there are some similarities between the current Van Life Nomad craze and the sudden concentration of oil workers in a small town more than ten years ago.

Mix Things Up

Finally listeners and subscribers know I like to mix things up.

Consequently it’s great to have a correspondent like Don Anger.

Pop Culture

To clarify Don is much more into pop culture than I am.

In addition he is very excited to talk about these subjects, so it’s a great mix for a podcast.

Visiting Friends

Most importantly it’s just great to visit friends every now and then.

(Editor’s Note: We talk at length in this podcast about a breaking news story. However Podcasting is not a breaking news medium. Of course it should go without saying, but it is necessary to point out that breaking news stories require constant updates. This can’t happen with this particular podcast. So if you want breaking updates on a breaking news story, this is not the place to get them. Suffice it to say it came up in freewheeling discussion and will be forever memorialized here, without updates.)

Nomad-Meetup-New-Mexico-Bob Davis Podcast 973

Firstly holiday season means many avoid travel restrictions with a road trip so it’s a perfect time for a nomad meetup and New Mexico is the place. Join us for Nomad-Meetup-New-Mexico-Bob Davis Podcast 973.

Secondly Las Cruces New Mexico turned out to be the perfect place.

Most importantly I’m doing the nomad thing and my friend Don Anger is doing a variation of the nomad thing.

Don works in the oil fields in Midland, Texas and lives in Case Grande, Arizona.

Even more my old radio buddy works two weeks on, and gets a week off.

Certainly like a lot of other workers these days no one’s taking any risks. Therefore Don is not alone migrating from the job, down the I-10 and back again at least twice a month.

On the other hand I am thoroughly loving the whole nomad experience. Having spent the last week or so in New Mexico, it was easy for me to head to Las Cruces.

Therefore my friend and I could meetup in Mobile Podcast Command for some coffee, and conversation.

As a result we got to share stories of the road and life’s challenges.

Above all how do we deal with issues like where we park at truck stops or Walmart parking lots. What about showers. Food. Do we travel at night or during the day?

In addition why do guys do what we do? For Don it’s about feeding a family and doing what has to be done.

But for me it’s about the open road and pure freedom.

Most importantly in this time lots of people are on the road.

Whether they’re working in one city and commuting to another or hitting the road in the same vein as I am, it doesn’t matter.

Finally even though it seems foreign, strange or even scary to some…It’s home to us.

To sum up we both get a lot of questions about life on the road. Time for a freewheeling conversation with two road warriors about what it’s like, why we do it and why we love it.

Podcast 566-BobDavisRadioShow-50

Podcast 566-BobDavisRadioShow-50. October final State By State Poll roundup.┬áPodcast 566-BobDavisRadioShow-50 covers the hysteria around polling these days and what to watch for in the final two weeks of campaigning. Charlatans abound in the political world. Almost everyone telling you one candidate, or the other, is going to win has a hidden agenda. Some want to make themselves famous. Some are shilling for a candidate. Ignorance on what political research actually is has now commingled with Trump’s claims the polls and thus the election are rigged. My response to a subscriber email about push polls is typical. Someone, somewhere talked about push polls so now everyone thinks the polls are push polls. Or, the John Podesta email suggesting internal polling over same democrats has everyone convinced all the pollsters are in the tank for Clinton. Sigh. The polls used on Real Clear Politics, and the polls I use for┬áPodcast 566-BobDavisRadioShow-50 are polls taken by media organizations or university political science departments. A push poll is a poll designed to ‘push’ a respondent into voting one way or another. Usually there is very little polling data collected in so called Push Polls. Are the polls right? A good poll isn’t right or wrong, it is reliable. Listen to this show and you’ll know more about polling than anyone on your block. Listen to the other podcasts about polling I have done and you’ll understand more about what is going on. First, it is not a popular vote that elects the President of the United States. The US Election is an electoral affair so all the action is in the state by state polls. You can aggregate these polls. You can average these polls. However, you cannot aggregate and average them and place a probability on whether one or the other candidate will win. All the poll averaging does is give you a birds eye view of the battlefield. The must win electoral states change election cycle to election cycle. No predictions will be made here. I will give you a truthful and honest analysis of where the mainline campaigns stand on the eve of election day, 2016. Sponsored by Hydrus Performance, Ryan Plumbing and X Government Cars.
