Congressman-Tom-Emmer-Part1-Bob Davis Podcast 873

Once Upon A Time…

Once upon a time in a galaxy far, my friend Tom Emmer and I had a radio show. These days Tom is a US Congressman. Join us for a the first installment reunion podcast in Congressman-Tom-Emmer-Part1-Bob Davis Podcast 873.

Looking Back…Then The Issues

At the top of the list in Part 1 are some fun stories from back in the day and then we get to the issues. After that it gets heavy as we tick off each one of the local and national issues.

It’s All About The Money

One of Emmer’s duties these days is running the republican effort for House races in the 2020 election. Most noteworthy is at least one congressman who lost his bid for reelection in 2018 blamed John McCain and ‘Green Money’ for his loss. It’s all about the money when it comes to these house races. Will there be enough in 2020? Find out in Congressman-Tom-Emmer-Part1-Bob Davis Podcast 873.

Emmer’s Reelection Bid

Moreover as the top republican congressman in the state of Minnesota, what does Emmer’s bid for reelection look like in 2020? One of the issues is whether Emmer has what it takes to disagree with President Trump. For his part, Emmer says he does. In addition he tells a story about how the president reacted to one of his recent votes.

Emmer’s Ok With Trump Being The Issue

As far as issues for 2020 are concerned, first off is the question of what it is like to run in an environment where Trump and Trump’s personality is the issue. Tom makes some predictions for the outcome of the next election that should be noted.

Impeachment Is A Dead End According To Emmer

Second, what about impeachment proceedings? Emmer condemns the democrats saying they’re fabricating evidence and not allowing elected republican officials to see evidence.

The Big Issues…Besides Trump

Even more what issues will candidates be dealing with?

On Health Insurance, Democrats are promoting Single Payer Health. How does Emmer explain the republican plan for Health Insurance Reform?

Kicked Out-‘Pan O Prog’ Parade-Teaching Podcasting-Bob Davis Podcast 740

Summer in Minnesota means small town parades. For Mobile Podcast Command this summer also means getting kicked out of a parade. Find out how and why in Kicked Out-‘Pan O Prog’ Parade-Teaching Podcasting-Bob Davis Podcast 740.

A Minnesota Classic

The Bob Davis Podcasts has been part of a classic Minnesota small town parade for years. This year the Pan-o-Prog parade added itself to the prestigious list of places and events this podcaster has been kicked out of. That experience is the most noteworthy part of this podcast.

Podcasters Get No Respect

Above all in a free wheeling and fun podcast with one of my best friends, I’ll give you the low down.

Moreover I never sweat it. We podcasters get no respect. Not like traditional broadcast vehicles. Even more that’s part of the charm of podcasting. Check out Kicked Out-‘Pan O Prog’ Parade-Teaching Podcasting-Bob Davis Podcast 740.

Podcasting Is Growing Up

I am joined by an old friend on this podcast.

‘Jack’ is an instructor at a swanky eastern university. He teaches broadcasting. Because so many more people are listening to podcasts these days, I wonder why he still teaches young adults radio.

Rather than take the bait, Jack tells us about teaching his kids broadcasting and podcasting. Above all broadcasters in general have taken a sudden and intense interest in podcasting.

Furthermore when an industry on the ropes like broadcast starts taking a serious look at a disruptor there’s only one conclusion. We’re growing up, podcasters.

Summer Is Good For Seeing Old Friends And Doing Podcasts With Them

Finally Summer! Staying up late. Lighting the Tiki Torches. Sitting on the deck. Getting kicked out of a parade!

When the weather is this good, nothing bad can touch you.

Podcast 332 – Congressman Tom Emmer

Congressman Tom Emmer. Tom Emmer joins the Bob Davis Podcast to talk about his recent vote for the DHS funding bill, which has generated so much controversy with some constituents in Minnesota’s 6th District. Tom talks about the original budget bill known as ‘CROMNIBUS’, and the bill defunding DHS the House was asked to vote on recently. Also discussed is the need for an overall strategy to address presidential executive orders and memoranda, by President Obama. Problem is, since it is President Obama issuing the orders, he picks the time and ‘place’ of battle, forcing Congress to react, rather than act. Emmer also talks about the controversy on his vote for the Speaker, and disagreements with some leaders and members of the North Metro Tea Party recently. It was recently suggested that Minnesota’s 6th District is one of the most republican in the United States (Editor’s note: I made the suggestion.) In reality, while Minnesota’s 6th district is one of the most republican in Minnesota, with a +6 generic republican vote, there are districts in some states in the range of +20 for the generic republican vote. So no, Minnesota’s 6th district is not ‘like Texas’. Emmer says he understands people are angry and frustrated. Those who are angry and frustrated don’t want to talk about the complexities surrounding votes like the recent DHS vote, they’re just angry. The Congressman suggests conservatives need to lead with logic and not emotion on these issues, and the right needs a strategy for the next 18 or so months, and 2016. He says it will be different when the Senate has a 60+ majority of republicans, a wider republican majority in the House and a republican President. Tom says he has been talking with constituents pretty much non-stop since the vote. This podcast did not represent an opportunity to argue with Congressman Emmer, but an opportunity for him to respond, and to give listeners an idea what it might be like to have a conversation with the Congressman on the phone. Emmer and Davis also talk about the Authorization for Military Action the President is asking for, and whether he thinks arming the Ukraine is a good idea, given the fact that a group of Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate are asking the President to do so. Also discussed is trade policy, and the recent ‘Snowmageddon’ that has hit the Capitol. Sponsored by Baklund R&D
