Back To Minnesota

I am on the road heading back to Minnesota. These days the name of the game when it comes to back roads is avoiding the weather. It’s most noteworthy that I avoided the snow and ice. I did not avoid the rain. Learn more in Backroad-Weather-Adventure-North Carolina-Bob Davis Podcast 880.

My Radar And More Help For My Back Road Adventure

Especially relevant is an AP called ‘My Radar‘. Really helps to be able to track storms, so they can be avoided. Unlike summer storms, winter storms mean icy road conditions and that is no fun.

Weather Is More Important When Back Roading In Winter

Moreover since I am all about the back roads staying abreast of the weather situation, especially temperatures, is important.

Back Roads Are Fading? What?

What I have learned on this first leg of the trip home? First of all, back roads even in places like North Carolina are starting to fade. I’ve been talking about this on all the podcasts from this trip.

Growth Means Interstates

As a result of the growth in the South freeway systems we used to associate with big northern cities are becoming the norm here. Bottom line? If you want the back roads in some parts of the south you have to fight to stay on them.

Two Lane Roads And National Highway System

Even more this says something about the argument against big highway systems in general. The classic American two lane road is usually associated with the National Highway System built after World War One. I’ll explain in Backroad-Weather-Adventure-North Carolina-Bob Davis Podcast 880.

An Interstate Is Not A Back Road

Google ‘national highway system’ today, and you’ll get articles about the Interstate system. Decidedly not two lane roads. Consequently the highways people often associate with ‘back roads’ might just be Interstates that cut through less urban areas.

No More Cruise Control Please

Certainly for me it’s all about those two lane roads. And I do fight to stay on them. The scourge of freeway driving known as ‘cruise control’ makes driving on the Interstate a pain.

The Route South and West From Richmond Virginia

Finally, join me as I roll south through Virginia on the classic and perfect US 360, to US 29, on through Western North Carolina on the way to Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Real-Talk-2020-Election-Issues-Bob Davis Podcast 871

Political Chatter

These days there’s a lot of political chatter. We’ll talk about it in Real-Talk-2020-Election-Issues-Bob Davis Podcast 871.

Who the candidates are.

Who’s going to be nominated.

Which ones will win. It seems to change every week.

Not Much Real Talk About Issues

In contrast there hasn’t been a lot of talk about the issues. We’ll do that it in Real-Talk-2020-Election-Issues-Bob Davis Podcast 871.

Our Dream State Of Politics

This podcast opens with a quote about the dreamlike nature of our politics. Then there are the pundits who seem to want to break it down with percentages and numbers. To advocate. The desire is to make a call and tell you who’s going to win.

I won’t do that.

Art Not Science

Politics is more of an art than a science.

Personalities and Partisanship

In 2020 it may come down to personalities and partisanship, not polling and elections data from yesteryear.

Emotions Make Bad Decisions

Moreover I don’t think people driven by emotion, and armed with conspiracy theory, make decisions based on the so called ‘issues’.

Fluid Issues

Issues are also fluid. Killing a famous terrorist changes the fortunes of a president.

In addition so can a series of bad economic numbers or an economic crisis.

One day’s high is the next day’s low.

Long Lists Of Issues

I researched issues. Got long lists of ‘issues’. Certainly many of those ‘issues‘ are included in this podcast. Do they mean anything?

What The Media Is Selling You Already

Will these issues drive the election? That’s what most of the media is selling you.

Not me.

In contrast I’ve picked four key themes I think may have a big impact on what happens in 2020. Let’s not forget we don’t directly elect presidents in the US. We do directly elect congress and our statewide representatives and governors. Those elections are important too.

Themes

In conclusion it’s necessary say again I am not supporting or fighting against any candidate. I am not trying to convince listeners and subscribers we need to move a certain way in this country. You listen. Make your own calls.

Trump-Democrats-Ruin-Thanksgiving-Christmas-Bob Davis Podcast 865

Toxic

I don’t think it matters where you come down on the process of impeaching Donald Trump. What’s especially relevant is the fact that the media has been praying for this. Due to this, politics will only continue to permeate our culture. Has it reached terminal toxicity? One can only hope. Learn more in Trump-Democrats-Ruin-Thanksgiving-Christmas-Bob Davis Podcast 865.

Live From My Garage

I did not want to do an overtly political podcast about this nonsense in Washington. So come with me to run some errands and we’ll talk about it, as we go live from my two garages.

High Crimes Expertise

Even more I wasn’t on the call with the President of the Ukraine, so I don’t know what was said. Sure I can read the so called ‘transcript’ but I’m not an expert when it comes to high crimes. What about you?

Run Its Course

Consequently whether you see what is going on now in Washington as the Democratic Campaign for the Presidency or a Witch Hunt, this thing has to run its course. Unfortunately.

Not Going Away

Certainly this whole thing isn’t going away anytime soon. Find out why in Trump-Democrats-Ruin-Thanksgiving-Christmas-Bob Davis Podcast 865

Ruining Christmas and Thanksgiving

Therefore prepare to have your crazy uncle Joe and your Brother In Law ruin Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.

Latin America Style Corruption

As far as I am concerned and above all, I have come to the conclusion that the United States Government is pretty well shot through with corruption, legal and illegal.

For Some Time

Furthermore I can make the case this has been true for some time.

Government Too Powerful

It’s all due to the growth of government power we the people have allowed.

Shut Down Santa and Mrs Claus?

Who wants to shut down Santa Claus?

Perfumed Princes In Washington DC

Consequently I won’t be breathlessly relating the latest development in the impeachment saga, attacking or defending the president or any of these other perfumed princes and princesses in the capitol.

Cancer

Finally my biggest concern is how these kinds of issues spread to our screens like a cancer.

Battlegrounds

My own analysis of the president’s current approval ratings in battleground states is key.

All Bets Are Off

The democrats may have had the president in 2020 in those battlegrounds. Too bad for them. Now all bets are off.

Gossip Is News

Maybe someday the American People will turn away from this constant barrage of political gossip. Don’t hold your breath, though.
