Podcast 536-Midnight Thoughts. Back in the studio after a long road trip. The excitement of travel gives way to scanning the news and wondering what to talk about in this podcast. Hence, Podcast 536-Midnight Thoughts. Midnight Random thoughts perhaps? But. No. Specific observations about the role of podcasting and transcending the nonsense in day to day politics. In fact the more I talk about politics the more I feel physically revolted by it and physically almost unable to talk about it. Why? Because what is going on distracts and obscures. Our politics in the United States no longer enlightens and illuminates. Our politics is no longer a soaring bird, but a slithering ‘thing’ down in the mud and dirt and grime. It’s depressing, boring, frightening and at the same time ridiculous. While I have not lost my passion and interest in what is going on politically, I find more people inexplicably joining tribes committed to convincing those in the opposing tribes with one ridiculous argument after another, spitting out what has been drummed into them hour after hour from social media, 24 hour cable TV news, talk radio and so on. Not wanting to harp on those same themes, all I can say is it is truly Orwellian; like there really is a little man behind a curtain pulling on levers. For me, the antidote to all this is travel; actually witnessing events. When you see it go down ‘for real’, you realize many things you see and hear are designed for video. The protests at the conventions? If you were there you had to go find them because you could hardly tell they were happening. The guy climbing Trump Tower in New York? If you were on Wall Street, or on the subway, or in the Bronx you didn’t even know it was happening. Did it? Did it mean anything? What’s important? I think it’s a the conversation podcasters have with their listener/subscribers one on one, based on the inner thoughts we share. It’s one of the things podcasting can do that radio doesn’t do anymore. Maybe the best thing we can do is provide a venue that helps you have that conversation. The news these days seems more like greek theater and less like, well news. Reporting on events, gathering facts and making observations based on those facts. You all know this, because I talk about it too much. I realized while traveling and while thinking about this podcast tonight that so much of what is happening in 2016, I’ve already done detailed podcasts about. For example, podcasts about the death of the conservative ‘movement’  over the years, and we’re just starting to see people write and talk about it. So, use the search window to listen to those podcasts. Meanwhile, the travel podcasts, the podcasts reporting on breaking local news, the podcasts about deeply felt emotions are the ones that resonate with me and hopefully with you. Finally, all this feels like its leading up to something; some big thing that is epoch changing, and you know, historically pivotal. Something we’ll talk about for decades after. Podcast 534-Bob Davis Podcast Radio Show-38. Posting this week’s radio show, with new content, from Rapid City, South Dakota. The radio show produced in Wall, South Dakota just outside the famous Wall Drug…which is actually pretty cool. In Podcast 534-Bob Davis Podcast Radio Show-38, a number of topics covered during this week’s podcast with new content added. For one thing, the rumors that somehow the republicans will ‘Dump Trump’ persist. It’s more than pure comedy when people who supported the Republican establishment’s embrace of Trump with full throated enthusiasm are scrambling to distance themselves from the Republican Candidate after his comments regarding the parents of a muslim American Serviceman who was killed in action. Add to that the fact that more and more people are suddenly interested in the political process, and are sending me emails and asking me, “Who should I vote for?”, or “What’s going on”? I share my answer with listeners in this podcast, although some of you won’t like the response. Once again, we have an over stimulated population well informed on the political gossip, but poorly informed on issues; the issues that we’re actually picking a president to deal with. This doesn’t even include congressional elections. With republicans defending some pretty competitive senate races, the potential for Donald Trump’s candidacy to cause a loss of control of the Senate for the GOP, could be devastating. Remember, Trump was ‘the one who can win’, and ‘the one who can take the fight to Hillary’. Has anyone thought about the prospect of Donald Trump as president with a democrat senate? The man who has pledged to ‘spend more that Hillary’ on government stimulus? This prospect, or even worse, the specter of Trump losing the presidency and republican control of the senate has apparently just dawned on the very establishment leaders that so lovingly embraced the New York Developer as their presidential nominee just a few short weeks ago. Only time will tell what the outcome of this election will be, but it could be death knell of the republican party. The republican establishment has already killed the so called conservative movement. In the final segment of this week’s show we come to local elections. Specifically, a local election in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, challenging the current speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives, Kurt Daudt. An Elk River man is alleging that a local tea party chapter and its associated political action groups has violated Minnesota State Election Law. (Editor’s Note: I am working to validate the allegations made by Matt Stevens of Elk River. In this effort I have already uncovered some discrepancies in the citations of evidence, and some questions as to whether Stevens fully understands how the Tea Party Alliance and its associated PACS are constituted. This is material when considering whether they have violated state campaign laws. Moreover, Stevens has refused any further comment or interviews ‘until the primary’, adding fuel to the suggestion by some that this was nothing more than a dirty trick to derail the campaign against the Speaker. Those involved in the Tea Party and its PACS refuse to comment until after the primary. By law, the State of Minnesota can’t even reveal whether a complaint has actually been filed.) Podcast 528-Bob Davis Podcast Radio Show #36. Taking listeners from northern Minnesota, through Wisconsin, to Michigan’s UP, down the Lake Huron coast of the Great Lakes State, onto Cleveland, Ohio for RNC 2016. The Great Lakes Region is still the Industrial Heartland of the United States, perhaps the world. At one time though, this part of the country was like a magnet for workers from all over the world, and the US, looking for a better life. The so called ‘Rust Belt’ is soon to be a focal point for campaigns competing to win the presidency in 2016. Donald J. Trump – the Republican nominee – has pledged to bring the jobs back to this region, and Hillary Clinton will spend a lot of time campaigning in democratic strongholds in the industrial urban giants in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin. In Podcast 528-Bob Davis Podcast Radio Show #36 we’ll take listeners on a brief part of the trip through the Upper Peninsula on the road to Cleveland. No doubt, RNC 2016 was a bruising affair for the so called principled conservative, as the GOP establishment rolled over, climbed onto the bed and willingly gave itself to Trump’s campaign. So intense is the GOP’s desire to ‘win’ — and at any cost — it’s capitulation might not be a surprise to some. What’s surprising is the twenty-four-hour vilification of Senator Ted Cruz — himself not without sin — for staying true to his base and refusing to ‘endorse’ Trump. These are the two biggest stories to come out of the convention and they all add up to the same story; The Trump Bandwagon has become a train and ‘loyal’ republicans are supposed to get on board. Or else. Principle? We don’t need no stinking principle!  We’ll get an inside view after the convention’s tumultuous first day, with The Blaze’s Mike Opelka. Then, reaction from Minnesota Cruz Organizer Mandy Benz, who talked to The Bob Davis Podcasts just after the Ted Cruz speech, Wednesday night. These events will have grave consequences for republicans. Some who threw their support to Trump will have to defend a potential Trump presidency’s decisions for four years. They will have to do this without really knowing what Trump is actually for. Wonder how that plays for Newt Gingrich and Scott Walker, as well as others who’ve climbed aboard a runaway train, without knowing where it’s going. If Trump loses, these same experts and pundits will have a lot of explaining to do. For the grassroots, the scales have fallen from their eyes as they get a strong dose of political hardball in the big leagues. Think you’re a conservative?
