#Nomadlife-Lessons-Part One-Bob Davis Podcast 1139

#Nomadlife Lessons Part One

Altogether after many years as a nomad it’s time to share some lessons in #Nomadlife-Lessons-Part One-Bob Davis Podcast 1139.

With this purpose in mind I set out to cram all the lessons into one podcast.

But it turns out I have a lot of content to share when it comes to nomad lessons.

State Of Mind

In #Nomadlife-Lessons-Part One-Bob Davis Podcast 1139 I begin with our state of mind when we first test the nomad waters.

Accordingly there’s some discussion about economic conditions these days.

Conditions Before You Go

That is to say conditions which might drive people out on the road and into #Nomadlife.

Firstly there is the fact that housing has not decreased in price despite the reduction of inflation.

Triggers

Even more most working people have thirty to forty percent less buying power than they did in 2019.

Certainly part of the reason I got rid of just about everything I owned was the increasing price of rent.

And the overbearing nature of efforts to contain the pandemic.

After that being on the road meant being free.

No More Free Money

In addition back in 2020 there were a number of pandemic relief funds and incentives which helped many to adopt the nomad lifestyle.

All of the sudden those measures are no longer available…

Back To Work Peasant

Significantly as well these days more businesses are exhorting workers to return to the office.

So I think the bloom might be off the rose slightly when it comes to hitting the road…

On the other hand this reality can also be a trigger for chucking the nine to five suburban lifestyle.

Especially when you consider some commutes are now seventy minutes long.

Romance Is Still Strong

However that does not diminish the romance of this alternative lifestyle.

Revenue Stream

Therefore these days one has to have some kind of revenue stream to do this.

Obviously retirees have savings, pensions and social security.

Contrarily younger people might not have those resources.

And you don’t want to hurt your own savings or future retirement.

Temporary Jobs

In view of this fact I spend a little time sharing what I know about some of the temporary jobs available ‘out there’.

Forget YouTube

On the negative side many future nomads imagine themselves making bank from their YouTube channel.

Of course if you have experience creating content that’s one thing…

But chances are a YouTube channel or Instagram is not going to foot the bill for a nomad life.

Most Nomad Content Include Lists

Finally I see a lot of content on line about ‘the three things you have to do before becoming a nomad’ or ‘the sixteen things you need’ and so on.

Certainly some of this is good advice…

Adventure

Equally important though, is the sense of adventure that comes from not knowing too much about something before you do it.

Enlightenment

And realizing you’re getting a lot out of something as you do it.

Detail

I’ll give you a little more content in detail about what this experience is like in the first of these two #nomadlife lessons podcasts.

No Regrets

In conclusion unlike many of the posts these days decrying the lifestyle I have not regretted doing this for one day.

No-Politics-Better-Path-Bob Davis Podcast 1138

No Politics A Better Path

Firstly it’s time for some real talk about why No Politics is the better path for me. Check out No-Politics-Better-Path-Bob Davis Podcast 1138 for details.

Secondly in order to explain this I do have to spend a little time talking about political science.

But no personalities or issues in this podcast.

No Political Content

Or any podcast or YouTube video I do.

In fact this has been my policy for more than three years now.

Metamorphosis

To clarify a metamorphosis for me began around 2020…

which at length changed my approach to content on my podcasts.

Long Time Listeners Already Know

All things considered my subscribers and listeners know this has been my policy.

On the other hand I have new listeners and subscribers both on these podcasts and through YouTube.

Why?

Even more people have been asking me why I don’t talk about politics…

Don’t ‘Should’ me Brah

Or in like manner suggesting I “should”.

Better Path For Me

Therefore it’s time to say again why the no politics content rule is a better path for me.

Political Science

More importantly it’s necessary to discuss political science for a little bit of time in this podcast.

Rancor

Because of course so much of social media content is devoted to back and forth arguments and rancor about national personalities and national issues.

Easier To Listen

Above all I can’t really write it the way I say it in this podcast…

Socially Corrosive

but so much of this socially corrosive rancor in on the social media platforms where people complain about ‘the media’.

Useless Energy

With this in mind a great deal of national government in the US is not subject to individual votes in the same manner local government is.

Yet so many of these ‘arguments’ have to do with national issues.

Ruining The Vibe

Overall though the reason I think this is the best path for me is that political talk ruins the travel vibe.

Four More Years

Thirdly I have been a nomad for four years now.

Positive Vibe

The first thing to remember about the nomad lifestyle is it carries a very high positive vibe.

We Are More

Furthermore this experience taught me we can be and are so much more than yelling and screaming at each other across the back fence.

Why Bring The Nightmare To The Dream?

In the final analysis when someone chooses a lifestyle that is unique…

It’s most important that one of the drivers of the decision to choose this lifestyle is to experience more and be more.

In the long run, why bring the nightmare to the dream?

Finally I do not feel all this political yelling and screaming is positive at all.

Certainly not for the kind of content I have grown to love.

Unhappy-#Vanlifers-Doing-It-Wrong-Bob Davis Podcast 1133

Unhappy #Vanlifers Doing It Wrong

Are unhappy #Vanlifers really doing it wrong? A recent Wall Street Journal post about the hash tag Van Life again points out the obvious. Details in Unhappy-#Vanlifers-Doing-It-Wrong-Bob Davis Podcast 1133.

Nomad Coverage

Firstly I have rarely seen positive coverage of the nomad experience.

Hard Life

Secondly the recent Wall Street Journal piece reports on a few #vanlife people complain about how hard the life is.

Instagram

And say Instagram has it all wrong.

As a result I’ll ask again whether anyone actually believes anything they see on social media?

Best Foot

Of course we put our best foot forward.

Or show our best face to the world.

In other words analogous to cleaning your house before guests arrive.

But there’s more.

Negative Experience

Because the article in question illustrates a number of negative experiences for the vanlifers interviewed.

For example, no place to sleep.

And not being able to take showers.

Or being lonely because the dating life out here sucks.

Finally the unexpected costs of mechanical problems and fuel.

As I have said many times in many different podcasts…

Not A Bowl Of Cherries

In general life is not always a bowl of cherries.

Overcome

In fact part of the experience in #nomadlife is overcoming setbacks and solving problems.

Won’t Quit

To sum up the article on a positive note all of the van life people interviewed said they won’t quit.

Great Potential

All in all I believe there’s great potential in nomad life.

And as I have noted as the infrastructure for digital nomads gets better…

In time more may choose this lifestyle.

Establishment Media Hates Nomads

However I don’t think the establishment back home or the establishment media will give our lifestyle a break.

Presently reporters and editors seem to love the idea that social media is ‘lying’ about living on the road.

Don’t Dream

In essence don’t dream of a different life.

It’s too dangerous.

Stay Back In The World

Meanwhile keep paying ridiculous amount of rent and commuting four hours a day.

By and large living in huge expensive cities and stepping over homeless people to get to the subway.

Of course doing a digital job and being required to work in an office…

When even in the present time you can work from anywhere.

Just In Case

Just in case you’re thinking about buying a van and dumping your absurdly expensive efficiency in said large city…

Take a look at these poor idiots in this Wall Street Journal story without delay.

After that you’ll accept your life as it is.

Reality

In reality over time nomad life can be easy and satisfying.

Lots To Learn

Of course there is a lot to learn.

Yes You Can

But if you can do it and you want to try.

Go for it.
