#Nomadlife-Lessons-Part One-Bob Davis Podcast 1139

#Nomadlife Lessons Part One

Altogether after many years as a nomad it’s time to share some lessons in #Nomadlife-Lessons-Part One-Bob Davis Podcast 1139.

With this purpose in mind I set out to cram all the lessons into one podcast.

But it turns out I have a lot of content to share when it comes to nomad lessons.

State Of Mind

In #Nomadlife-Lessons-Part One-Bob Davis Podcast 1139 I begin with our state of mind when we first test the nomad waters.

Accordingly there’s some discussion about economic conditions these days.

Conditions Before You Go

That is to say conditions which might drive people out on the road and into #Nomadlife.

Firstly there is the fact that housing has not decreased in price despite the reduction of inflation.

Triggers

Even more most working people have thirty to forty percent less buying power than they did in 2019.

Certainly part of the reason I got rid of just about everything I owned was the increasing price of rent.

And the overbearing nature of efforts to contain the pandemic.

After that being on the road meant being free.

No More Free Money

In addition back in 2020 there were a number of pandemic relief funds and incentives which helped many to adopt the nomad lifestyle.

All of the sudden those measures are no longer available…

Back To Work Peasant

Significantly as well these days more businesses are exhorting workers to return to the office.

So I think the bloom might be off the rose slightly when it comes to hitting the road…

On the other hand this reality can also be a trigger for chucking the nine to five suburban lifestyle.

Especially when you consider some commutes are now seventy minutes long.

Romance Is Still Strong

However that does not diminish the romance of this alternative lifestyle.

Revenue Stream

Therefore these days one has to have some kind of revenue stream to do this.

Obviously retirees have savings, pensions and social security.

Contrarily younger people might not have those resources.

And you don’t want to hurt your own savings or future retirement.

Temporary Jobs

In view of this fact I spend a little time sharing what I know about some of the temporary jobs available ‘out there’.

Forget YouTube

On the negative side many future nomads imagine themselves making bank from their YouTube channel.

Of course if you have experience creating content that’s one thing…

But chances are a YouTube channel or Instagram is not going to foot the bill for a nomad life.

Most Nomad Content Include Lists

Finally I see a lot of content on line about ‘the three things you have to do before becoming a nomad’ or ‘the sixteen things you need’ and so on.

Certainly some of this is good advice…

Adventure

Equally important though, is the sense of adventure that comes from not knowing too much about something before you do it.

Enlightenment

And realizing you’re getting a lot out of something as you do it.

Detail

I’ll give you a little more content in detail about what this experience is like in the first of these two #nomadlife lessons podcasts.

No Regrets

In conclusion unlike many of the posts these days decrying the lifestyle I have not regretted doing this for one day.

2018 House Toss Up Races-Story Lines-Predictions-Part 1-Podcast 716

Will republicans maintain control of the US House Of Representatives in 2018’s Mid Term election? Or are those predicting a Democratic Wave right? Find out in 2018 House Toss Up Races-Story Lines-Predictions-Part 1-Podcast 716. For part one click here.

Media Creates Confusion

These days the media is obsessed with predicting the future. Moreover they’re so busy telling the future viewers are left confused about where the close races are and why they are considered close.

West Coast To The Mississippi

In two epic political podcasts, I lay out the battle ground for the most vulnerable house races in 2018. Part 1 covers the west coast to the Mississippi. Part 2 (Podcast 717) covers districts east of the Mississippi to the Atlantic. Political Junkies these two are for you. If you want the same thing on the US Senate Toss Up Races, check out Podcast 712.

Skipping The Story Line

In 2018 House Toss Up Races-Story Lines-Predictions-Part 1-Podcast 716 it is most noteworthy that I don’t buy into a story line. On one side it’s a blue wave. On the other all is well. It is far from clear what the result of this election will be. That doesn’t stop the shills bought and paid for from telling you what’s going to happen before you’ve even had a chance to consider it.

Primaries Play A Role

Election Day is Tuesday November 6th, 2018. Many districts have primaries in May, June and August. The results of these primaries will determine the tactical situation in key districts. A sober look at these races goes a long way to clarifying the situation for listeners and viewers.

An Ocean Of Time

Moreover, there’s an ocean of time between May 2018 and Election Day. Will local or national and international events have the most impact in the tight races? How many seats are republicans defending? What about local personalities? Most of the time, all the information isn’t in one place where it can serve as a baseline for future discussions.

No One Can Consistently Predict Elections

Bottom line? No one can predict elections. We learned that in 2016. What’s more, House elections are even more difficult to predict. 435 members up for election. The Democrats have 193 seats, the republicans 237. Both parties 200 or so seats solidly democrat or republican. That leaves about 30 races which can be considered toss ups. This is where we focus.

Devil’s In The Details

As the old saying goes, the Devil’s In The Details. Did Trump beat Clinton in your district? How did your congressman do? What are the local issues? If it’s an open seat is your district Republican, Democrat or somewhere in between? From California’s 10th to New Hampshire’s 1st, From Oregon to Georgia.

Read Entire 1097 Page GOP Tax Bill-Part 1-Raw Reactions-Bob Davis Podcast 688

Both houses of congress have now passed the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Bill. After four hours and near blindness, I finished all one thousand plus pages. Every citizen should read this bill. In Read Entire 1097 Page GOP Tax Bill-Part 1-Raw Reactions-Bob Davis Podcast 688.

Big Little Reforms

Especially relevant is the public relations effort by republicans to convince voters this is a ‘sweeping’ reform of the US tax Code. In fact it is an amendment to a budget bill that further amends the 1987 Tax Reform Act.

Everyone Loves Or Hates

Moreover, if you read the bill, you should almost have a copy of the 1986 Tax Reform Act handy. Both sides of the so called political divide are touting how great this legislation is, or how it will end the world as we know it.  I’ll give you some details in Read Entire 1097 Page GOP Tax Bill-Part 1-Raw Reactions-Bob Davis Podcast 688.

Please Hold For Your Tax Attorney

Truth is if you are in business you’re still going to need an accountant and tax attorney advise you. Some businesses will see their taxes increase. Some individuals will see their taxes increase. Sure, the standard deduction has been doubled and tax rates reduced…but…

It Might Be Good…Then Again

There will be fewer deductions and thus fewer ways to legally reduce exposure to taxation. Depending on your specific situation you might see an increase or decrease in your overall tax. I explain some of this in Read Entire 1097 Page GOP Tax Bill-Part 1-Raw Reactions-Bob Davis Podcast 688. In addition, listen to my tax reform podcast to understand the political game going on under the guise of fixing the tax code.

Never Underestimate The Power of Free Beer

There are scores of pages concerning craft beer, wine and spirits. Guess all those receptions with free hootch for members must have worked! Finally there are lots and lots of new rules regarding businesses of all kinds.

Beware of Congressmen Bearing Cool Sounding Jargon

When congressmen and senators go out among the people and talk about all they have accomplished, you’re going to hear the words ‘pass-through’ and ‘average american will save’ such and such a lot. What does it all mean? Find out in Read Entire 1097 Page GOP Tax Bill-Part 1-Raw Reactions-Bob Davis Podcast 688.

More Government Control

In conclusion my final reaction is the sadness I feel that our federal government controls so much of what we do as citizens through the mechanism of taxation. Republicans who campaigned on a tax cut have certainly paid off on that promise, at least until 2025, but at what price. That is the 1.2 trillion dollar question. President Trump signed the bill into law Friday afternoon.
