Dumbest-Question-In-Politics-Bob Davis Podcast 944

Impossible To Predict The Future

Most importantly it is impossible to predict the future. However the media insists on trying. Learn more in Dumbest-Question-In-Politics-Bob Davis Podcast 944.

Dumbest Question

Certainly the dumbest question in politics provokes the need for me to do a presidential polling roundup every now and then before election day 2020.

Direct Elections

Firstly on that day voters will be directly voting for congressmen, senators and a range of local officials.

Electoral College Chooses Our President

Secondly voters will cast a vote for the president but they won’t be directly voting for the president. That’s the job of the electoral college.

Who Chooses The President?

We hold individual state and territorial elections. Electors chosen in each state actually choose the president. Therefore we have a geographic component to our elections. That’s key.

Battleground!

Due to this unique feature of our presidential elections it comes down to so called ‘battleground’ or ‘swing’ states.

Answering The Dumbest Question In Politics Is Nearly Impossible

Therefore answering the dumbest question in politics is almost impossible. Details in Dumbest-Question-In-Politics-Bob Davis Podcast 944.

What Matters In Election Coverage

In short that is why I do these podcasts detailing the most recent polls from each election’s ‘battleground’ states. Because at the end of the day, these are the states that matter.

Up For Grabs

Even more this month’s round up again shows the 2020 election is up for grabs, not already decided.

Wild Predictions Waste Your Time

Above all the media’s penchant for answering the dumbest question in politics produces wild predictions about the outcomes. Basically if you want your guy to win, you’d better go to work because it’s far from decided.

Current Polls

In conclusion if you want a discussion of what the current polls show without allegiance to a candidate or cause, I am your guy.

Pluralities

That is to say things are still close in key states. To clarify, victories will probably be by pluralities rather than majorities.

No Matter What They Say…It’s Still Impossible To Predict

Finally that makes the election of 2020, if it is held at at all, impossible to predict.

Jury Duty All Week, Campaigning All Weekend

First of all US Senators are the jury in the Impeachment trial of the president. Or so some of them say. So weekends in Iowa are for campaigning. Learn more in Election2020-Amy-Klobuchar-DesMoines-Bob Davis Podcast 896.

How Candidates Interact

Moreover these podcasts give listeners a sense of how candidates are interacting with potential caucus goers.

Senior Senator

Especially relevant? Klobuchar’s status as a senior Senator and moderate Democrat, running in a field of progressives.

Practical Progressive

She calls herself a ‘practical progressive‘.

Lots Of Talk

Certainly politicians talk a lot. Some of these events seem to go on forever.

Editing and Accurate Representation of Events

Due to this circumstance I have to edit. Hopefully these podcasts will be accurate representations of these events.

Taking You Inside Events So wear Headphones

Above all the effort is to take you inside an event so you can experience it. In addition with shorter length podcasts you’ll get an impression of as many candidates as I can record before caucus night!

Trump Is A Big Part Of Campaign

Seems like all the democratic candidates want to talk about the impeachment. They all talk a lot about the President.

Republicans Take Note

Because of this republican leaning listeners and Trumpers may find it difficult to listen all the way through.

Organization and Pivot Counties

However one of my takeaways already is the depth of democrat arguments and the detail of their proposed agendas, should they become president. Even more the level of organization I am seeing here.

Listen and Learn

Finally republicans and Trumpers would be well advised to listen to these arguments and ideas.

Democrat Strategy

In conclusion one thing is sure to be a factor in 2020. Democrats are targeting pivot counties here in Iowa in preparation for a national strategy along those lines later in the campaigns.

Testing Ideas and Arguments For Campaigning This Fall

Therefore it might be a good idea to hear and understand the arguments they’ll use.

Some of them are pretty good.

2018 Toss Up Elections-Final Thoughts-Podcast 758

The 2018 Midterm election season has been most noteworthy for its twists and turns. Now as we head into the final month of the campaigns, find out what to look for on election day in 2018 Toss Up Elections-Final Thoughts-Podcast 758.

Media Cherry Picks Stats

Then there’s the media’s habit of cherry picking statistics. They call it ‘political coverage’. Statistics prove the story line. Damn lies convince us none of this has ever happened before.

Predictions of Doom

The president’s approval rating has never been worse. Voters have never been more fired up. If things continue the way they are now, terrible outcomes are inevitable. The president’s political party always loses seats in a midterm. Are these predictions of doom true? Learn more in 2018 Toss Up Elections-Final Thoughts-Podcast 758.

Polls Don’t Lie. The Media Lies

Finally, in my experience making predictions about statewide and house elections based on national polls and baselines is problematic although some research suggests they may be reliable predictors in midterm elections. There just isn’t enough information to say one way or another what will happen. That’s why we wait and see what the vote actually turns out to be.

Labels and Beliefs

Meanwhile these days we’re awash in labels and broadly held beliefs in pure nonsense. So and so is a “transformational figure”. A “disaster” has changed voting in a district or state forever.

Be The Change

I believe it’s time to change how we cover politics and I am putting my podcasts where my mouth is in this series on the midterm election toss ups. A close look at the data. A fair shake for the candidates. Letting the listeners and subscribers decide for themselves. Putting all the data in the podcasts so you can compare on election night. That’s what it’s all about for The Bob Davis Podcasts for Election 2018 coverage.

In conclusion, through all of it, I have to say I have no idea what will happen on November 6th, 2018, and neither does anyone else.

That’s up to you.
