World-Gone-Crazy-Bob Davis Podcast 1044

A World Gone Crazy

Firstly extraordinary circumstances cause me to break down key issues in a World Gone Crazy. Find out what’s up with me out here in the desert in World-Gone-Crazy-Bob Davis Podcast 1044.

Financial Strain

Secondly someone needs to explain some facts as our financial system faces significant financial strain.

Most importantly this is as close as I’ll ever be to discussing politics.

Causes

However I am limiting myself to talking about what’s causing this financial strain.

No Picnic

Certainly what Americans are experiencing right now is no picnic.

Nomads are no exception.

Options

But we do have some options folks back home may not have.

Mobile

Importantly we’re mobile.

Free Camping

Even more we camp for free.

Fuel Prices Slowing My Roll

On the other hand the high cost of fuel has certainly slowed my roll.

And everyone else out here in the land of the nomad.

Stress Anyone?

Meanwhile a majority of Americans say they are under a great deal of stress right now.

A Mix Of Bad News

To clarify we’ve had a pandemic. Inflation has already made food, fuel and rent more expensive. And throw the Ukraine situation into the mix.

That’s a lot of stress.

But as a the result of hitting the road stress is a little easier for me to manage right now.

What’s Next?

Most importantly what happens next?

Financial Stress

Firstly our financial system is under a lot of stress

Stagflation

Stagflation is a concern.

Inflation

Inflation is ravaging all of us.

Deflation

On the other hand the cure for high prices may eventually be high prices.

No To Higher Prices

Even more I don’t think we can accept prices this high and eventually we will reject them.

Recession Ahead

That is to say eventually high prices effect demand to the point where an economic recession develops.

Certainly some economists think we’re nearing that point.

Weird Tension In The World

Above all with the situation in the Ukraine and Eastern Europe getting more tense by the day I feel like we have to take certain steps to protect ourselves. Details in World-Gone-Crazy-Bob Davis Podcast 1044.

Not Easy

Finally these aren’t easy times.

Take A Break

So give yourself a break every now and then.

To sum up I don’t like talking about these things.

Living Life Through My Podcasts

But I live as much as my life as possible through these podcasts.

And this is what I am living through right now.

News-Information Vacuum-Personality Cults-Propaganda-Podcast 731

I find it more difficult these days to talk about breaking news. Propaganda passes for actual news. Find out more in News-Information Vacuum-Personality Cults-Propaganda-Podcast 731.

Attack or Leaping To Defend

In addition correspondents are on the attack or leaping to defend the president’s summit with the North Korean leader. Furthermore, rather than report on the economy talking heads assert there is a ‘boom’ without new GDP numbers to support their contention.

The Narrative Is Controlled By The Wizard Of Oz

What happened to news reporting? Now the narrative is controlled by the president. Media personalities seeking relevance are expected to defend Trump’s increasingly bizarre assertions or say he can’t do anything right. Moreover the media seeks to predict elections before they happen.

Twitter and Catfights

Moreover, newsrooms don’t cover issues.

Reporters cover twitter feeds and catfights.

Since the president inflates any small accomplishment as a world beater it’s especially relevant to talk about actual results.

Results? We Don’t Need No Stinking Results

What are the results of the Trump-Kim meeting? The so called booming economy? The draining of the ‘swamp’? Find out in News-Information Vacuum-Personality Cults-Propaganda-Podcast 731.

Trump Political Vacuum

Welcome to the Trump Political Vacuum. You’re either defending or attacking Trump. Everything else is fake news. Trump is the antichrist. Trump is under the protection of God. The president is a child, or playing “four dimensional chess“. Take your pick. There’s no in between.

Welcome To the Delusion

In conclusion people suffer in the vacuum. Finding a good source is almost impossible. Discerning what’s real and opinion is even more difficult.

So, we live in a dreamworld of delusion.

Finally without facts surrounding an event a free society cannot make informed political choices. I can identify two times in history when it was this bad. Neither ended well. Moreover, this kind of situation erodes the foundations of a free society.

(Editor’s Note: These days in these rambling podcasts sometimes I make confused references. This time I made a reference to the Berlin Wall falling ‘in 1983 or 1984’. Of course I know the fall of the Berlin Wall occurred on November 9th, 1989. Subsequently the Soviet Union collapsed in December of 1991.)

Minnesota Road Trip-Progressives-History-Politics-Duluth 2018-Podcast 727

These days one of the things you learn on a road trip is how big the United States is. Then, how big individual states are. Finally the traveler discovers how each state is different. In Minnesota Road Trip-Progressives-History-Politics-Duluth 2018-Podcast 727.

Get Off The Interstate

Most noteworthy is what happens when you get off the Interstate and onto the back roads. That’s when you really see how it is.

Covering Politics In 2018

2018 is an election year. I said I would cover the Minnesota political scene this year. The first stop is the Minnesota State Republican Convention. Duluth. On the shores of Lake Superior.

Minnesota History

Furthermore some of the state’s old hands don’t know Minnesota’s unique social and political history. We’ll discover it together in Minnesota Road Trip-Progressives-History-Politics-Duluth 2018-Podcast 727.

Town Hall Is In Our Blood

Sure, we know our pioneer history. Especially relevant is the unique history of political grass roots and town hall style representation.

Minnesota’s first settlers were New Englanders and New Yorkers. They brought town halls with them. Later immigrants from Scandinavia, Germany and Ireland formed the bedrock of so called ‘progressive‘ politics in the state. Therefore, those ideas are still with us.

Yes Republicans Were Progressives and Populists Too

In addition while some people assume progressive politics these days is only the political left, republicans too have a long history of progressivism. Find out in Minnesota Road Trip-Progressives-History-Politics-Duluth 2018-Podcast 727.

Tim Pawlenty Tries To Derail Caucus Process

Will the grassroots system survive in Minnesota? Former republican Governor Tim Pawlenty isn’t attending because he’ll be clinking crystal with rich guys at the Minneapolis Club. Pawlenty’s operatives will push the convention to refuse to endorse a candidate for governor. This is the main issue in Duluth this weekend.

Do We Really Want To Dump The Town Hall?

Moreover populists and progressives go back to the roots of Minnesota Republicans and democrats. Probably a big part of that process has been town hall style politics in the caucus system. Most of all do we really want to get rid of it?

Surprises In This Podcast

In conclusion as I researched this podcast I learned a few surprising facts. I think you will too.

(EDITOR’S NOTE: Two things. First, it’s not 35W heading to Duluth, it’s just 35 North. Being a Twin Citiean, I have to get on 35W before 35 North. Second, for some reason I thought the State DFL convention – the democrats – was being held in Rochester, Minnesota the week after the Republican Convention in Duluth. Once again those sneaky democrats have managed to slip out of my grasp. It’s in the 40’s in Duluth and the 80’s in Rochester. Given the quality of the speeches in Duluth this weekend, I wish I had gone to Rochester!)
