World Survives Eclipse-Western Wisconsin Road Trip-Podcast 742

Sometimes an eclipse is just an eclipse. Friday’s ‘Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse‘ did not destroy the world as predicted. These days someone needs to keep track of the soothsayers! We’ll talk about it in World Survives Eclipse-Western Wisconsin Road Trip-Podcast 742.

Best Economic Growth Ever!

Friday also marked the release of first quarter Gross Domestic Product numbers. To hear the president tell it, 4.1 percent economic growth is historic. Hear my take on the first blush of reporting on the good economic news in World Survives Eclipse-Western Wisconsin Road Trip-Podcast 742.

Does It Matter?

On a desolate lake road in Western Wisconsin at midnight, in the full moonlight, one wonders whether any of that matters anyway! What’s more the silence here in the middle of nowhere is incredible.

No Rules No Prep

I took a short road trip to what we like to call “God’s Country” to talk about organic farming. I’ll take that up in the next podcast. Every now and then I have to do walk and talk podcasts. No rules. No Prep. I call these ‘consolidation podcasts’.

A Midnight Walk Is Good For Making Sense Of It All

Because things seem to happen so frequently, following the news can be a head spinner. I do these walk and talk podcasts, usually at midnight, to try to make sense of it all.

News Flash! World Doesn’t End!

Furthermore last week the boomers were predicting the end of the world after the big eclipse. On top of that we are whipsawed by reactive coverage of the news. Getting subscribers and listeners to the Bob Davis Podcasts on track at the beginning of the week is one of my missions.

Good News Is Good News

Most noteworthy for this podcast is the release of the new economic data. 4.1 percent GDP growth in a single quarter is not unprecedented or even historic. It is good news. The key here is what caused the growth? Moreover is the growth sustainable?

Finding Truth At Midnight

In conclusion this week you may hear a lot of chatter about the economic numbers. Due to partisanship equal amount of chatter passing for ‘analysis’ will be negative and positive. Above all listeners wonder what to look for to find information without partisanship.

Sometimes you find a little bit of truth on a quiet country road in the mist and moonlight!

What Is A Tariff Anyway?

Finally someone has defined what a tariff is. Moreover you might be surprised to learn the history of trade legislation in the United States goes back to 1789.

These days we are awash in charges and counter charges in the media. Trade Wars and Rumors of Trade Wars. This kind of coverage doesn’t serve anyone.

1945 Looms Large In Trade Discussions

Most noteworthy is the impact of World War 2 and the advent of nuclear weapons in 1945. Since then, trade deals have been  considered central to keeping the peace and stabilizing the world.

Trade Has Been A Political Football since Hamilton

Trade has been regional and national issue in the United States in every political era. None other than Alexander Hamilton was an advocate of high taxes on imports going back to 1789.

Trump A Throw Back To The 1840’s?

Moreover tariffs were an issue in local and national politics in the US until the introduction of the Income Tax in 1913. Is President Trump a throw back to the 1840’s? Find out in Trump Foreign Trade Fight-Free Trade-Protection-Bob Davis Podcast 737.

NAFTA China Mercantilism Free Trade

We hear so much in the news about trade but few of us understand it. China. NAFTA. Mercantilism. Trade Protection. Free Trade. As citizens we need to make informed decisions about what is best for each of us individually and the country. With all the noise about trade it’s almost impossible for people to do that.

Especially Relevant Today As It Was Back In The Day

In conclusion with yet another new trade bill in the offing the question of whether the US should protect its markets or open them is as relevant today as it was in 1789.

July Fourth Recovery Weekend-Behind Headlines-Podcast 736

Trump’s Trade Protection Podcast On The Way

This calls for a full podcast on trade protection, which is in the works. Meanwhile there are just too many crazy stories out there to ignore.

The Statue of Liberty Is In Las Vegas, right?

Everyone saw video of a naturalized US Citizen trying to climb the statue of liberty over the weekend. Did you hear that the United States Post Office used the statue of liberty in Las Vegas for their new liberty stamp? Listen for details in July Fourth Recovery Weekend-Behind Headlines-Podcast 736.

Why I Don’t Fly And Take The Back Roads

This was a week in which many Americans flew home for a few days for the holiday. If you fly you know it seems like there are more and more seats in the planes. It’s especially relevant that this is one of the top complaints of passengers.

The FAA says they can’t do anything about the number of seats on planes, until it becomes a safety issue. Furthermore, this is why I use Mobile Podcast Command for travel on the back roads because why bother with the stress of air travel unless you have to.

Tiki Torches and Coffee

We’re live from the deck on this perfect July Fourth Weekend podcast. Tiki Torches and coffee. In July Fourth Recovery Weekend-Behind Headlines-Podcast 736 a free wheeling podcast that touches on news behind the headlines as well as anything and everything that comes to mind.

These Days We Need More Sleep

It’s most noteworthy that I am nocturnal, so it doesn’t make any difference to me how much sleep I’m supposed to get.

Apparently modern life is so stressful we’re now being told we need more than eight hours of sleep. My recommendation? Get some sun. You’ll feel better.

Maybe It’s Morgellon’s

I don’t sleep because I lay in bed at night and watch You Tube. You can get lost in the seedy underbelly of America. Furthermore if you get the chance you might be surprised to find tons of videos on You Tube about something called ‘Morgellon’s Disease’. One more thing to worry about!

In conclusion, we still have quite a lot of holiday left to enjoy. This podcast will give you some fun topics to bring up during dinners at the lake and during the pontoon boat ride.
