Podcasting In A World Of Propaganda

I stay up all night. Especially these days. Time for a walk and talk podcast about podcasting. Learn more in Podcasting-In-Propaganda-Maelstrom-Bob Davis Podcast 921.

Podcasting

First of all I don’t often talk about podcasting. Above all this medium has taken me from one place to another in life.

Propaganda

Especially relevant? I don’t think I have ever seen amount of propaganda we’re exposed to now.

Anxiety and Negative Thoughts

In addition new research shows people in the United States are experiencing high levels of anxiety and negative thoughts.

Trauma

To hear a my podcast about the effects of trauma click here.

Uncertainty Rules

Also I think our biggest problem is the not knowing outcomes.

Walking and Talking Is Good

Consequently it’s always good to do a walk and talk.

Content Creators Struggling

My thoughts as a content creator are especially relevant.

Wading Through Crap

Even more how do content creators thread our way through unprecedented levels of propaganda.

Won’t Tell You What To Think

Furthermore I refuse to tell subscribers and listeners what to think.

Doing Our Homework To Avoid Mass Manipulation

I’ve explained how we can do our own homework. In addition I’ve shown how social media can be used for mass manipulation.

Won’t Follow The Audience’s Lead

Certainly I could tell audiences what they want to hear. Everyone else does, right?

Deeper Into The Darkness

To detail every little rift and latest conspiracy or story making headlines only takes us deeper into the darkness

Leading Rather Than Following

In Podcasting-In-Propaganda-Maelstrom-Bob Davis Podcast 921 I give you two unexpected examples of people who refused to follow their audiences and how they became leaders.

How Do We Get Out Of This Mess?

Finally it seems to me what we need is a way to start thinking how we’re going to get out of this mess we’re in.

Fussin’ and Fighting Won’t Cut It

Fighting about the latest outrage only takes us deeper into the darkness.

State Fair-Anxiety-Relief-Bob Davis Podcast 857

Weather Already Changing

Seems like all the media does these days is react to the President’s Twitter Feed. This creates stress. In Minnesota, the weather is already changing as we head to fall. That means it’s State Fair time. Many Minnesotans head to the state fair for anxiety relief. We’ll talk about it in State Fair-Anxiety-Relief-Bob Davis Podcast 857.

Working At The Fair

I don’t go to the state fair anymore. For me the especially relevant fact is over years I’ve spent hundreds of hours working at the fair. I’ve seen it change from an agriculturally focused event to a food fair.

Millions of Visitors But Not Me

Not that there’s anything wrong with a food fair. If that’s what you’re looking for Minnesota’s State Fair is probably the best in the nation. Moreover, switching to a more urban approach nets the fair hundreds of thousands of visitors per day, for the ten days it’s on.

Lost State Fair Podcast

Back in the day I recorded an audio project with friends at the Minnesota State Fair. A podcast before there were podcasts. I used to do a state fair podcast every year and drop in my ‘lost state fair podcast’, since it less than fifteen minutes long. No need to do that again. If you want to hear the lost state fair podcast, click here.

Freeze Baby

First of all when the weather changes my focus shifts indoors. I am what Minnesotan’s call a ‘freeze baby’. I don’t like being cold. Moreover I already miss the heat and humidity of late July. This year the humidity and heat departed the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes early in August.

Shifting To The Horrible Experience Of Social Media

As a result I am in the studio for State Fair-Anxiety-Relief-Bob Davis Podcast 857, late on a Saturday night. I can’t help but shift from telling some State Fair stories to talking politics and the reaction that subject garners on social media.

Running The Country From Twitter

In addition I single out the media again for seemingly reporting on a twitter feed. These days it feels like all the media does is report on the president’s twitter feed. Consequently we don’t report on outcomes anymore.

Telling Audiences What They Want To Hear

Even more it’s necessary for me to reinforce the fact that I refuse to join the ranks of partisan commentators either predicting the future or telling their audiences what they want to hear.

Focus On Society and Outcomes

As I have been saying, in contrast, my focus is increasingly on society. I am looking for outcomes. Conclusions. Things we can talk about that have some concrete presence in the world. I think the social media experience is increasingly negative, promotes anxiety, and gets us all nowhere.

Play The Game To Find Out Who Wins

In conclusion I refuse to do politician’s work for them. I think they rely too much on media magpies to formulate the explanations and excuses. Sometimes we have to play the game to know the outcome.

Cheese Curds and Something On A Stick

Finally sometimes it’s just good to take a pause at the end of the summer for some cheese curds and something on a stick.

Eyes On The Prize-Always A Student-Bob Davis Yoga Podcast-768

Distractions. We all have them these days. How do you keep your eyes on the prize. We’ll talk about it in Eyes On The Prize-Always A Student-Bob Davis Yoga Podcast-768.

Eyes On The Prize Please

Keeping your eyes on the prize means focus, goal setting and follow through. It’s all about reaching a positive result. A personal goal, or some kind of outcome.

More Practice Clearer Mind

Moreover one of the promises of a daily yoga practice is a clear mind. By refining and refocusing the mind through a yoga practice we hope to gain a clearer perception of ourselves.

Age Doesn’t Matter

It’s especially relevant that we understand we live in an age of swirling distractions. Despite all the talk about young people and their portable devices and screen time, age doesn’t matter. All of us are bombarded constantly with messages.

Judgements

News of the day. Friends and family. Our personal and business networks. In addition all the demands of modern life. Greater distractions we don’t see. Society and Politics. Personal pressures. Judgements we have to make to survive.

Transcending Day To Day Pressures

Our practice every day is supposed to be free of judgements. A time for us to take for ourselves to clear our mind and refocus. Yoga starts out as part of a fitness routine for many. For others a response to the pressures of life. After practicing for a while, something else starts to happen. We transcend the day to day pressures. Learn more in Eyes On The Prize-Always A Student-Bob Davis Yoga Podcast-768.

Needs and Wants

In conclusion there’s a sort of transcendence with yoga. I started to understand the difference between needs and wants. I realized I really didn’t need that much ‘stuff’ to be happy. Keeping my ‘eyes on the prize’ means planting seeds every day, rather than trying to harvest every day.

Quiet The Mind Quite The Mind

With distractions and judgements about everything everywhere these days, being able to quiet the mind can be the beginning of big changes.
