These days in my world I feel the need to start reading in depth again. During my talk radio days it wasn’t uncommon to read two to three hundred pages of information a day. Most noteworthy here is podcasting doesn’t require that level of prep. Unfortunately you lose the detail on key issues.

So it’s back to scanning, printing and reading. I feel like I am in summer school!

Partisan Coverage Is Killing Us

The heavily partisan nature of media these days has been a theme in these podcasts. I spent some time on my own website the other day and what I found surprised me. Much of it was prescient or oddly predictive.

Now, I can’t stand political commentators that try to predict outcomes. I actually try to avoid predicting outcomes. Thing is, when a person travels thousands of miles on backroads across this country as I have, there’s a huge takeaway. The rules of the walk and talk are no preparation, no plan. A throwback to the years when I would walk late at night with my grandfather.

Most noteworthy, experience and especially Yoga have helped me rise above the partisan debates. These days I can actually be more of a ‘fair judge‘ of the hypocrisy of our institutions and politics. Hurtling Down The Tracks To Somewhere

In conclusion, something I talk about in this podcast is the sense I have that we are hurtling down the tracks toward some kind of clarifying turning point. I have no idea when we’ll get there or when we’ll get there.

I have read enough history and lived long enough to know that this level of rancor and venom usually do not lead to good decisions or policy making. That suggests at some point, someone will make the kind of mistake that produces major shockwaves.

Midnight Walk
