Travel With Higher Prices

Back on the road for travel with higher prices. Time to talk about the basic causes of high inflation and what’s ahead for nomads. Revisiting some topics from earlier podcasts. Listen to Travel-With-Higher-Prices-Bob Davis Podcast 1048.

Euphoria Back On The Road

Firstly even a short trip back on the road delivers the same euphoria and excitement longer trips delivered last year.

Things Have Changed

Second things have definitely changed.

People Don’t Understand What’s Happening

Even more after many discussions with people I’ve met recently there is clearly a lack of understanding what’s going on and what’s caused these prices.

All The Key Information Assembled Here

In addition I have not been able to find all the key information assembled in one place.

Therefore that is the plan for Travel-With-Higher-Prices-Bob Davis Podcast 1048.

The Cure For High Prices

Above all most of the time high prices lead to a recession.

Learn The Word Monetary

Certainly as Milton Friedman said Inflation is Always and Everywhere A Monetary Phenomenon.

Too Many Dollars

That is to say too many dollars chasing too few goods.

Recession Ahead

And inflation often leads to recession.

Good News For Nomads

Due to the fact that recessions often lead to lower prices things might be looking up for us nomads.

California Gas Gouger

Meanwhile the media and politicians don’t talk about high fuel taxes irrationally gouge working Americans.

For example California’s tax on diesel is 68 cents. On gas it’s nearly 52 cents.

Exxon Should Take A Lesson From California

Even the oil companies could take a lesson on gouging from the State Of California.

Short Trips

In short I took a short trip into the so called Golden State intending to head to Los Angeles.

Cash Leaking Out Of My Wallet

However I turned right around and came back to Arizona due to the amount of cash leaking out of my wallet.

Longer Stays and Free Camping Please

Most importantly it’s short trips, longer stays and free camping for this nomad.

There Goes The Punch Bowl

In addition as the Federal Reserve takes away the punch bowl and pulls the slats out from under the economy I’m cheering.

Stock and Real Estate Market Shocks

Finally what’s ahead for the world back home might be stock and real estate market crashes and inevitable job losses we nomads have our fingers crossed for lower prices.

No House To Lose Here

In short if you’re on the road full time you probably don’t have a house to lose or high rent to pay.

Why We Hit The Road

Moreover this was the reason many of us decided to hit the road.

Nomad Story

It’s an important park of the nomad story.

Falling Off A Cliff

To sum up big market moves usually don’t happen fast.

But it’s kind of like falling over a cliff and grabbing branches on the way down.

As you fall you’re up and down but the general direction is down.

Good News The Media Won’t Tell You About

In conclusion that’s good news for nomads.

Maybe not so much for everyone else back in the world.

Plan Beats No Plan-Bob Davis Podcast 828

Political Winners Need A Plan

The 2020 presidential campaign is already underway. Democrats are already touting their plans from free health care to free college. Thing is, a plan beats no plan when it comes to politics these days. We’ll talk about it in Plan Beats No Plan-Bob Davis Podcast 828.

Calling Someone A Socialist Is Not A Plan

Certainly this week attention has been focused on the president’s statements regarding unions. Meanwhile lesser known state and local ‘conservative’ republicans attack democrats for being ‘socialist’.

The US Is Already Socialist

Especially relevant is whether this approach will work.

Come to think of it, doesn’t the United States increasingly have a “controlled market economy” meaning the government already ‘controls the means of production’?

Trade Protection and Government Built Infrastructure – Capitalist right?

Moreover President Trump touts trade protection, and lately government appropriation of 5G wireless technology. It’s also a republican president pushing for ‘infrastructure’ development. Republicans even have their own ‘Single Payer‘ health plan where big insurance companies implement the federal program. This is capitalism? Learn more in Plan Beats No Plan-Bob Davis Podcast 828.

…People In Glass Houses

State republican representatives and senators who are real estate agents, housing developers, doctors and lawyers find themselves voting for ‘socialist’ ideas from MAO Clinic funding to laws regarding how you use your cell phone while driving.

Moreover from TR to Trump, republicans have been advocating for ‘progressive’ and socialist policies. Would you believe German Socialists actually supported Abraham Lincoln back in the day?

GOP Voters Hate Democratic Socialists But Don’t Take Their Social Security Away

In addition rank and file republican voters rely on government pensions, social security, ObamaCare, Medicare, Veterans Benefits and all kinds of tax breaks for their businesses. Good republican ‘capitalists’ take every legal tax benefit they can get from real estate to Tesla’s in the driveway. Rural farmers who voted for Trump love their subsidies. But socialism? God no!

Capitalism Is Radical

Seems to me that a real Capitalist Agenda would be seen as quite radical these days. Most Americans haven’t experienced true Capitalism. The means of production, from stock trades to light rail, have indeed been controlled by local, state and federal governments for a long time.

Where’s The Plan, Stan

Finally if republicans are against socialism they’d better get busy designing a capitalist plan.

Name Calling and MAGA

In conclusion, sadly a republican capitalist plan will never emerge. Much easier to call democrats socialists and shout ‘build the wall’.

That’s a plan, right?

Podcast 529

First Night at EAA. Sunday nights are load in nights for exhibitors, fly-ins, and media at the EAA AirVenture Air Show at Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. I always celebrate with a regular podcast, live from just under the control tower as we start a new week, on the First Night at EAA. It’s late. Everyone is asleep, but I am getting in the last few thoughts on the coming show, and new developments in the political world this weekend. Having just come from the RNC at Cleveland and witnessing the divisions in the Republican party firsthand, it’s a little weird to see the same kinds of fissures developing with the democrats at Philadelphia with the specter of the democrat establishment killing the grassroots too. Throughout this hot and stormy Sunday I’ve been thinking about a recent email exchange with a Trump supporter that says so much about American politics today. A gentleman who normally sends me great jokes via email suddenly swerved into politics exhorting me and a few score others on his email list to ‘vote Trump’. Why? Because Trump is going to get rid of NAFTA and the TPP and bring all the jobs back to the United States. I decided to press him to find out exactly why he thinks what he thinks and why he would take the unusual step of pushing his friends to vote Trump. It took several emails to learn he just ‘feels’ Trump is the best guy, Trump is like Lincoln, Trump knows what to do and he’ll do it, and don’t make me explain this stuff, google it. Then he asks me what I think of the questions I asked him! That serves as a debate in the land of Trump. A place where everyone gets what he wants, when he wants it, because Trump said so. A place where one bright morning a box will arrive from China and everyone will open it up and find a note that reads, “Sorry about taking your job at the bucket factory way back in 1997 but we needed it. Here it is back, slightly used but we hope you’ll forgive us”. There it is people. Donald J. Trump is going to get Uncle Joe his job back at Bethlehem Steel so he and Martha can buy back the 1993 Buick Regal, which the GM plant in Flint will be making again thanks to old ‘I’ll make the trains run on time’ Trump. I realized, while ordering coffee at the concessions stand next to the beautiful B-25 out here on the airfield, that there are a lot of 50+ children out there. Thinking is just too hard. Researching facts takes too much time. Actually learning the contours of an issue is a job no one wants. Lots of final thoughts — for the time being — on the convention, the resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz as the DNC chair, and the impending Trump presidency. Or not. Thank God I can talk about airplanes for the next few days! Sponsored by Hydrus Performance.
